Members of the Long Hair Community (LHC), 90% of whom are female on average, are planning to meet in Washington DC on September 6th (a Saturday), and I would like to invite members of this board to join us as well, as nobody seems to ob ject.
There's no venue agreed yet, although the latest suggestion was the Spy Museum.
Please reply if you'd like to come.
Spy museum? You mean the white house?
LOL!
Sounds fun, but I'd rather stay away from real life internet meetings. I am only 14 :P
I understand your concern. You could bring a friend/relative if you like. In fact, I don't suppose you should travel into downtown DC on your own anyway.
We don't care if you bring someone with you who doesn't have long hair. One of the ladies is expected to bring her husband who has short hair and mountains of photographic equipment, LOL!
Of course, that raises another issue, but you can avoid being in the group pictures or have your face pixellated in them, if you now what I mean. At least half the pictures will be of the backs of our heads, anyway.
Another issue is that I'm in Alaska and have no interest in traveling down to Washington. Sorry :P
Hope you guys have fun though!
LOL! That's funny!
Perhaps I should have described it as a local meeting or something. Usually we can scrape together three or four members if we have a meeting in a major city in RL, but most of them don't travel out of their own area to get to it. We do get a few people who fly over from the opposite coast or from overseas sometimes, but to be honest I wouldn't do that myself either.
However, if you should ever fly to DC from Alaska I'm sure you would be very welcome. Sometimes someone will post that they will be in town and would anyone like to meet up, and that's not so rare somewhere like DC because we get tourists here for all the monuments/museums/whitehouse/capitol etc.
Hmm. I'm only about 5 miles from DC. I'd be interested, just depends how my schedule looks. The spy museum is really expensive though.
Other people on both boards have raised the cost issue
Sounds like fun. I had a good time back there when we went to the National Arboretum. The Zoo was also a blast. I'm pretty sure the Zoo was free, and I think the Arboretum is too.
Unlike other museums in DC, I seem to recall that the Spy Museum is not free. I've never been to it, so I can't comment on whether or not it's worth the price of admission.
I thought you'd moved to California?
You have a point about the entrance fee
Oh, I did; but I couldn't resist throwing in my $0.02. Sorry for the confusion.
Sounds very interesting, especially because long-haired women are one of my favorite forms of scenery [grin].
However, I'm getting ready to have surgery on my leg/hip which will cause some significant mobility issues, so I'll probably have to pass.
Jim
I'm not sure they'd like being called scenery! (But it's OK, I won't tell them)
Several people on both the boards have raised the cost of the Spy Museum as an objection. Apparently it costs $18 when purchased in advance, and it's $2 extra to buy the ticket on the net.
It's not certain that this will be the venue as yet, so we'll have to wait and see. I'll pass on any suggestions.
Please note that there's discussion of the venue in another thread
