Multnomah Falls. One of the largest waterfalls and most beautiful in the entire world is located right here in Oregon within the gorgeous Columbia River Gorge area. The falls extends 620' upwards and has a double-drop to it, making it all the more spectacular. I took a hike to the top of the falls yesterday and thought I would share with all of you guys some of the photos.
Here is the falls as seen from the parking lot with the lodge in the foreground. The day was a bit overcast with sun every now and then peeking through. The weather was ideal and the temp. right at 72 degrees. Just perfect for one of my favorite hikes.
At the base of the falls.
View along the way.
Enjoying the beauty of Nature.
A smaller waterfall is to be found atop the main falls.
On the platform above the falls.
Longhair and nature just seem to blend together.
620' above the Columbia River.
Ah..........just so peaceful to be at home within nature. Hope you have enjoyed these photos. My best to all of you guys.
Justin~
Hey Justin your hair looks superb, and in such a beautiful setting too. I was maybe 14 years old the last time I visited Multnomah Falls. I really wanted to hike to the top of it back then, but my dad, being concerned for my safety, did not want me to get too far away.
Scott
Hi Scott
What a wonderful comment about my long hair coming from you. Thank you Scott for this great compliment.
Too bad your Dad wouldn't allow you to take the climb to the top of the falls, but if you are ever up in this area I would be happy to take the climb with you. :-)
Until just a few years ago, the climb was all dirt and rocks. Then we had a few bad winters with so much rain that parts of the trail were washed away. The state came in and restored the trails and paved them! So, they are now actually the safest they have ever been to hike on.
My best to you Scott.
Justin~
Gorgeous! Looks like you had a great time.
Eric H.
Hi Eric H,
Yes, it is truly one of the most gorgeous areas on the face of the earth. I always soak up the beauty of nature and its wonders when I am in the Columbia River Gorge area.
Justin~
Hi Justin,
Thank you for sharing these wonderful photos, of a truly beautiful part of the state that you are blessed to call your home. Hopefully, I will have the opportunity to experience these views with my own eyes some day.
Of course, your hair is awesome, and a real inspiration.
Take care,
David
Hey David
You always have the nicest comments and are such a gem. Thank you for what you posted to my little excursion into nature.
Yes! Absolutely. When you make your trip this area is a MUST to see and is the type of area that once seen is never forgotten. I would be most happy to show you around this area and of other such fantastic things that you wouldn't believe how beautiful they are.
Take care-
Justin~
Hi Justin,
The waterfalls are beautiful, as well as your hair!
Cheers,
Peter
Thanks so much for the compliments Peter. Much appreciated and I was glad to share some of these photos of the wonders of nature with the other members of the MLHH. Take care-
Justin~
Hey Justin, those pics are stunning...wow! Never heard of this fall. I'll have to do some checking on that. Great pics, thanks for sharing and of course your hair is just as great. Hope I can get mine to that lenth in a few years...
Take care,
Max
Hey Max
Glad you enjoyed the photos so much and appreciated the glories to be found in nature. Your own hair seems to be doing just great and I hope you are able to reach my length as well. Alas, it takes so much patience...........but is it EVER worth it! :-)
Justin~
Great pictures there, Justin. Two of my favorite things: Nature and long hair! Superb. Looks like you had fun. Your hair looks amazingly good, as always. Take care!
Hegg
Thank you so much Hegg. But talk about amazing hair, what about your own? I believe you win the prize compared to the "quality" of my own. Keep it growing and all the best to you.
Justin~
Hey Justin. Beautiful pictures! I'll have to put Oregon on my list of places to see as the scenery is really breath taking. As always, your hair looks great. Your hair and that scenery make for incredible pictures.
Del
Hi Del
Yes, by all means put Oregon on your map for sometime in the future. I doubt you will have a single regret and that you would love seeing some of the sights of this portion of the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Beauty beyond words!
As to the falls, with your amazing gymnastic skills and strength you may very well be able to climb the trail upwards doing a "Cartwheel!" One thing however, I wouldn't advise going over the falls in a barrel! LOL :-)
Take care Del and best wishes to you always.
Justin~
Beautiful photos Justin and some mighty fine looking hair!
Frank
Thanks so much Frank for the compliments which are ever so much appreciated and glad you enjoyed the photos and appreciated the beauty of nature that abounds out here.
Take care and hope all is well with you.
Justin~
Wow Justin, I had no idea you had such a beautiful thing in Oregon. Of course given my shocking knowledge of geography and limited travel you could be hiding the Land that Time Forgot up there and I wouldn't know it! :)
Fantastic pictures all Justin! You are looking fabulous as ever, stunning hairfalls and waterfalls abound. But for some reason I really was struck by this one picture. The dark trees surrounding the distant open air and hills. Quite a beautiful picture Justin.
I am glad you are enjoying yourself nothing beats a contented smile :)
Take care my friend
Chris
Hi Chris! :-)
So glad you liked that particular photo that I took. It was my favorite of all as well. So many don't know about this area of the country. Before moving out here (as I had lived in New England all of my life) I had always thought of Oregon as being some kind of parched land with some tribes of Native Americans here and there/ Can you believe? How wrong I was!
And yes, I have much to smile about and have never felt better and happier in my life as I do now. This thanks to the discovery of insulin in making the life of a Diabetic absolute heaven.....as long as they FOLLOW what is best for them. Following the diet is easy and not unreasonable at all.........but watching-out for the Sodium in foods has proven to myself the most difficult of all. Alas,so many I have talked to, (and they are everywhere) since being diagnosed do not follow the correct way to attack this disease and it is little wonder that they are having so many problems. Oh well, some people just will not follow directions no matter what they are told. Guess it has always been this way. But the disease can be sneeky as was the case with myself and I did not have the "normal" symptoms. Good thing it was caught just in time. But the most shocking of all. "If" the doctors and hospitals advice is ALL that is followed, one will in the end most probably go downhill for sure. Not all of the info is given. The patient has to research on their own such as I have and found out things unknown which HELPS restore them to the ultimate. It is a shame we live in a society in which this is the case.
I hope your own disease is getting better Chris. You have suffered enough.........too much, and it is about time that a break-through takes place.
If you are ever out this way I would gladly like to meet you.
My very best to you always Chris.
Justin~
Hi Justin,
I have to admit you must be living in paradise as those nature pictures are stunning. That is just some awesome scenery and I can only imagine what the falls sound like with the water crashing down from such a high altitude. Also incorporating your hair in the pics also adds to their beauty.Hey I wish I could have been there instead of slaving away at work!Oh well I guess some of us are lucky.LOL Thanks for posting your pics as I enjoyed looking at everyone of them.
Mark
Hey Mark
Indeed, it IS like living in paradise with some of the most fantastics sights in the world to behold right in your own backyard. I wish you could have been here too, but if you ever get out this way let me know and I can tell you of all of the most amazing places to see, and perhaps even meet you in person.
Glad you enjoyed these photos and thanks for being the great person that you are.
Take care
Justin~
Too cool...I had the pleasure of seeing this about eight years ago. That entire gorge is simply beautiful.
Hi Brad
So glad to hear that you have actually been to this area and seen it first hand. A camera could NEVER do it justice. One has to be right there in person to appreciate the full impact. Hope you are able to venture out this way again some day and visit the area again. It is the sort of place that is impossible to tire of seeing.
Best-
Justin~
Great pictures. You should go see the Snoqualmie falls in the Seattle area sometimes.
Regardless
My MySpace - feel free to add me as a friend
Hey Regardless-
Indeed I SHOULD see the Snoqualmie falls once and for all as I have heard of this area but have always passed it by on my way to the San Jaun Islands. So glad you enjoyed the photos.
Best wishes to you and continued success growing out your hair.
Justin~
Wow Justin. That's a very impressive picture. I've always wished I had a landmark like that to walk to and admire. That is a lovely sight.
Thanks for sharing this picture.
Take care
Neil
Hi Neil
It surely is a most marvelous sight, but I think everywhere one may live there is a certain beauty to be found within its own right. If you ever get out this way and see the Columbia River Gorge area it will remain with you in your mind as one of the wonders of the world of nature at its most beautiful.
Take care and all the best-
Justin~
Great pictures Justin, there is some beautiful scenery near you, I love moving water, everything seems so fresh.
And you seem to be looking younger by the week, soon you'll be 21 again!!
Thanks for posting these images Justin.
Cheers Dave
Hey Dave-
So glad you liked the photos and yes, the scenery is just so beautiful as to defy words. The sound of the rushing water and seeing the white rapids within the woods are just the most wonderful experience.
Ha Ha Ha. 21 again? Not quite. But I would be happy to settle to be only 100 again just as long as I feel as well as I do now. It is like heaven to feel alive once more.
Take care Dave and hope you are having a great weekend.
Justin~
Great photos Justin, and the setting shows off your impressive locks.
Sorry we did not connect wiht details for a meetup....I was within a few miles of you that day.....Been tramping around Mt. Rainier today and off to Port Townsend in the morning.
Take Care, maybe we will connect on another of my trips up the coast.
Walter
Hey Walter
Perhaps you never received my email to you with phone number for when you were out this way? The plants this year have grown now the BEST they ever have. (Trouble is this year there appears to be some trouble with a Blue Jay that attacks and bites off the tops! :-0
So glad you are enjoying where you are. All of that area is just so neat. Port Townsend so unique and the wonderful old mansions right there on the waterfront.
Thanks for the nice comments Walter and till another time.
Take care-
Justin~
"...Perhaps you never received my email to you with phone number for when you were out this way?..."
No, I never saw it and I was hoping to hear from you....
.....AW Shucks !!
Darn! Because I didn't have your email address,I sent the email via the users directory right after I saw your posting about the plants. Maybe it somehow ended up in junk mail? Lately I have had a series of ligit emails landing there on my computor, but I don't know why.
Excellent update Justin, your hair is lookin' great as always! Thanks for the tour of your little section of the world.
Bruce
Hey Bruce
Good thing I scrolled down this far as I thought all of the comments were through.
Glad you liked the little tour and as always, your comments about my long hair are very much appreciated. Thanks! :-)
Take care-
Justin~
