Last December, I asked some girl I know who is a hair dresser, to thin my hair out. She esentially just hacked most of it off, and I clearly told her that I only want it thinned. Now my hair has grown back to the length it was, and as come back just as thick as it was.
I want it thinned again so I can manage it easier, but I'm afraid a hair dresser is just gonna hack it all off again like the last girl did. Can any one give me some advice?
I certainly would not go to that stylist again sounds very severe and thinning is not always the best with longhair that's for sure.

PS...Well trimmers I'm back from Germany!

There's my pic. Bear in mind I just straightened it before I came on to the board.
I have thick hair, too. I would suggest you just let it grow, and when it gets really long (below shoulders) then consider a trim of edges.
Gravity will eventually take over, and your hair likely doesn't look as bad as you think it does. Even if you have someone "thin" out your hair, all you are really doing is making a number of your hairs shorter. Defeats the ultimate aim of long hair.

Yep ... could we get a pic? Be easier to judge then.
Thick hair is healthy hair. Just let it grow and not think about it.

What I would give to have thicker hair. Try finding a stylist that specs in long hair. Or better yet ... don't trim and get used to it.
I really think you would be better off to avoid all kinds of trims and just let it grow. By having it thinned, what you get is thin at the ends (where thick would really help) and thick at the roots (which will make your hair look "large" for a while).
You've basically got some waiting to do. :) It's just the awkward stage that everyone refers to here. You can use gel or spray to help keep it stylish looking in the meantime. The "wet" look with gel/spray worked for me during worst of the awkward stage.
Best,
Bob
I second that. If you thin it out, it will actually end up looking more bushy because the shorter hairs will push the longer ones out. They're also less manageable. All thinning out will achieve is to prolong the awkward stage, so I'd suggest just living with it for now. A few months and you'll be through it. By the way, your hair looks great. It's in good condition and looks well under control, so why change it?
I know how you feel. I've got REALLY thick hair, and mine looked a lot like yours at that length, sorta poofy. As others have already said, that will tone down as it gets longer and the weight starts to take more effect. I'd worry more about getting to whatever length is your goal before I worried too much about trimming it.
