It's been a while, probably about 6-8 months since I've posted an update. From skin bald to these pictures it has been 2 years and half a month (zero trims or maintenance). I don't use shampoo, I've only used it once in the last 9-10 months, for conditioner I use infusium 32 fizzology and moisturology leave in, and sometimes the garnier fructis oil (comes in a clear sphere shaped bottle). I don't use combs or brushes, I detangle about once a week using my hands. I keep my hair in pig tails a lot, and it comes out nice afterwards. Hope everyones doing well.
I'm also growing out the beard, plan on doing a two strand braided jack sparrow kinda thing.
Wow, your hair looks great. I remember your previous update, and you have certainly made some nice progress. The last picture is really cool, the style suits you well.
Peace,
Ryan
Greetings Helgast. Superb looking hair...amazing for only a little over 2 years. Congrats.
Cheers,
Max
Wow! What a large amount of growth you have had! I think your hair may look even better this time around than it did last time. Either way, you have a very cool look going on, and I like the twin braids too.

Hi there Helgast!
Wow its been so long since we last heard from you but its great that you've decided to give longhair a try again:)I vividly remember that series of pics you posted when you went to the salon that fateful day to cut off your awesome longhair.I have to say that was a sad day for me at least as I always thought you made a fantastic longhair.Well that was then and now is now and I'm glad your back to being a longhair again.Your new care routine seems to be working well for you as your locks are killer!I hope this time you are happier with your hair and plan to keep it for the long haul. Thanks for posting your new pics as I like this one in particular.Take care my friend:)
Mark
Your hair has really nice curls. I like long haired men with curly hair. Just keep it growing.
Regardless
My MySpace - feel free to add me as a friend
Helgast, Awesome curl, color and volume(thickness).
Cool braided goat and a great smile too!
Congrats on 2+ years of healthy hair farming!
peace, jonalbear
Hey!! I love the goatee. Very good, and the hair as well of course! ;_)
Your hair looks fantastic. Ditching the shampoo has worked out well for you. In many cases curly hair does not like shampoo at all. (I don't use it on my beard which is very curly.) Keep growing it for sure.
Scott
Is it just me, or do you kind of look like Robert Plant?
Cool hair by the way.
Magnificent mane my friend! What amazing hair. You are an inspiration to us curly guys and gals out here. Thanks for the care tips. I'll try Infusium when I run out of my Garnier collection. Keep growin'.
Great update, your routine seems to work very well for your hair.
Keep it growing and looking forward to your next update.
Hi Helgast,
What a graet update, and your curls are thick and healthy, and have come such a long ways in only two months of growing!
Keep it growing,
David
Hey helgast !
Awesome update ! Beautiful curls, it seems you perfectly manage it. Good luck for the future growth. A Jack Sparrow-like beard will be nice ;)
Bye
Vivien
Simply wonderfull!
Thanks for all the positive feed back! I plan to continue growing it this time indefinitely, I would only ever cutting if I was having major hair loss, and even then I MIGHT go with a Devin Townsend skullet ;] We'll see when that time comes (if it does).
Ditching shampoo was THE best thing that could be done for hair of this type. I had some severe flaking, dandruff while I used it, tried head and shoulders but that made it worse. When I initially stopped shampooing my hair got really greasy very quickly, but after about a 2-4 week period things leveled out and stayed consistent even till this point now. It's funny some girls will say they love my hair, commenting on how great it looks, but when I tell them I haven't used shampoo in over 8 months they look shocked and appalled. Ha.
You have great hair which is an awesome length for two years! However it appears quite frizzy to me so I hope you are managing with that. My hair texture's really similar so I think I'll look the same with longer hair, incidentally lol...I even have blue eyes and same color hair!! Crazy :P
keep it up, we'd lvoe to see your updates!
Shawn
Wow, That is getting long! How long are you aiming for?
Mid-back =]
You've certainly learned how to handle your thick, curly hair...and with fantastic results!
Keep it growing!

Wow, I don't know which is more impressive - how long your incredibly thick & curly your hair has become or the fact that you can keep it under control! lol I especially liked the "nature boy" pic - pigtails, bandana, goatee & that mischievous grin. :-) You really look like you're enjoying life! Good luck with your fall college classes.
