Hi!
I know this question has come up several times. But maybe someone knows it.
It's normal to loose 100 hairs a day, but how do you count them? I'm not picking up every hair i find on my shoulders:)
After washing my hair today i went through it with my fingers and counted the hairs. I got to 30-40. Most of them were long, the rest about 3 inches. Is that a normal rate?

AT average, we have 100,000-150,000 hair strands on our head, some have 200,000. We normally lose between 50-100 hair strands a day. So we would lose 18,250-36,500 hair strands a year, with over 60,000 hair strands perfectly grown in that year.
Hair is very sensitive and prone to damage when it is wet, so it's perfectly normal to see alot of hair strands when you comb it. If you fall into the 50-100 hair strands a day area, you really have nothing to worry about, less than 50 a day is even better!

Hi !
Back in time, I used to count my hair in the brush. As I brush carefully every morning, I usually don't shed in the day. (or if so, as my hair is long and tied, I don't lose it everywhere :))
For the short hair, you should check that it's not broken strands. If you could see the "bulb", it's not (And it's good).

100 shed hairs a day is the "normal" or "average" for most people, but as with everything, there can always be an exception to the rule. Some lose more.......some lose less. Sounds as if you are in the "lose less" catagory. Nothing to be concerned about at all.
