Does anyone know what happened to Gollan and his website?
That wasn't his real name, just his alias. He had a really nice website about his long hair growth, with lots of helpful information and photos about buns, etc. Thanks, Johnnie
Hi Johnnie,
Gollan has not posted to the hyperboard in well over two years, and he took his web site down about a year ago. My understanding was that was taking some classes in university, but that was only what I heard when I asked this question on the hyperboard about a year and a half ago. Perhaps someone else may have some more complete answers.
Hope this helps,
David
Did he not graduate and get a job with a law firm - then feeling he had to cut to ft in with lawyers' curious views on the world?
I work in a law firm and nobody has ever suggested that I get a haircut. Oh yeah, they can't, can they. The DC Human Rights Act protects "hair style". He should have got a job in Washington DC.
I entirely agree but I seem to recall he was under some pressure - whether self imposed is another matter.
He was in school to get his teaching degree. He got a lot of flak about his hair while doing his student teaching. He was told that he would have to cut his hair to get a teaching position. Gollan decided to cut his hair prior to interviewing for positions, but he indicated that he intends to grow it again after he gets established.
This really makes my blood boil! Why are people so anti-longhair? I was under the impression that education was long hair friendly.
I wish that I could say that is the case locally (here in Hampton Roads area of VA), but it took a friend of mine who did a great job working from January to June at our school all summer to get a job teaching in the area. He had great recommendations. His "weakness": his hair is to his waist. However, Marco always wears it pulled back and loosely put in a bun. It's a very professional and clean look, Sadly, some people just couldn't get past the long hair. I haven't talked to him since he got the job at a local middle school. I hope he didn't cut it to get the job.
That's the thing that seems to happen on the North American contiment and too many people with hangups and blinkers!
Cheers,
John.B
Personally, I think he made the right choice. Get established, then grow it. That's what I did (I'm a teacher).
