This is just a little update for the people who replied to my post a couple of months ago about the medication I was put on for my anxiety. The update is that myself and my doctor have decided that beta blockers are not helping me out, infact possibly making me feel physically worse. My doctor has refered me to a cognitive therapist which will hopefully be followed by group sessions to help me in the long term. I am quite happy to be off the beta blockers - I can do without permanent diziness : ) So, it's time to try new lines and plough on.
Take care guys and girls.
Neil

Hi Neil,
I am sorry to hear that these medications have not worked, and I hope that something can be found to make you feel a lot better. You can be assured that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Take care,
David
Hey Neil, I also have some experience with medications along the same line, but mine are for bouts of depression. I once tried to wean myself off of the drug, and I felt fine emotionally the entire time, but it turns out stopping the regular dosage results in almost constant dizziness.
This stuff is definitely a pain to deal with, and hopefully you can figure out a sound way of approaching your troubles.
Peace,
Ryan
Hi Neil,
Glad to hear your continuing to work on it, also that your off the Beta Blockers. We have enough dizzy people in the world don't need anymore. Humour aside I hope you can work through your anxiety and get back some semblance of normal.
We're all pulling for you.
Cheers
Kevin
Sorry to hear about this Neil, Hopefully you can feel better now that you're off the drugs. I suffer from severe anxiety and Insomnia with depression kicking me in the ass at times. The only thing that helps me is the drugs. I'm currently on Seroquel and Restoril. They both work wonders for me. All I can say is Hang in there and things will get better. Take care.
Hi Neil. I don't remember your last update, but if the drug does not work, it is best to not use it. Here's a way to reduce the anxiety. Just relax. Don't worry about anything that needs to be done. The therapy may be worth a try. Hope everything works out for you. And nevertheless, I like the curls in your hair.

Hi Neil
Sorry that they have not hit on the medication that would give you the greatest relief. Anxiety conditions are extremely difficult to treat for many, and all ends-up so often by trial and error under the doctors supervision. Unfortunately, one who has never suffered with such would never really be able to understand the intense suffering that goes along with this terrible condition. I truly hope that relief for your symptons will be found this time.
Hang in there.
Justin~
Neil, The best of luck with your recovery.
I think therapy will work much better than drugs.
peace, jonalbear
I'm sorry you're not feeling better yet. Hopefully the therapy can help. Hang in there.
Bruce
Hope this new treatment will work, but like you say at least you don't have any side effects this way.
Good luck and let us know how you are.
Hey Neil. The bad thing about some meds is that sometimes the side affects are worse than the illness. Wishing you the best. Man, that hair is awesome!

Glad to hear you are making some progress, that is, going a different route than the one that is not working. Beta-blockers are normally for blood pressure control anyhow. My dad used to take those and was very dizzy all the time. I bet the cognative therapy will be beneficial. be sure to let us know how things progress in the coming months.
Hope all is well in the "Wu"!
