Has anyone ever been to the site, the Haircut Reserves? If you have been, did you search the whole site? And if you did that, didn't you just laugh and laugh at the site?
yes! i went through pretty much the whole site. usually when i read something i disagree with, i do not laugh, because i try to see it from the other persons perspective. however, this site made me laugh. really, authentic laughter, like not "ha ha" as in to mock them, but i really started cracking up.
by the way, did you read the post on the forum where one guy explained why guys become longhairs? basically, he said that we have not had haircut routines growing up, so we do not intentionally become longhairs, but we just kind of forget about our hair. that is the thing that really got me laughing. i guess it is because it is the opposite, like hair is something that you are always aware of, like the back of your hand, (once it gets long enough to go all over) and takes effort to maintain, so the idea that we are somehow unaware . . . well, i have said enough. i am rambling.
but i would definately suggest anyone reads it for enjoyment. needless to say, please do not take it seriously. however, they make it look pretty authentic, but i know it can not be. i mean, i do not know anyone who would actually believe the things written on that page.
Since someone posted a link I actually visited that site. The only
thing good there are the pics of the longhairs. I'm jealous of some
of them. If anybody actually takes that site seriously then they are
fanatics and not like us who are people that like (and enjoy) longhair.
I mean, "military father says....", give me a break. That is more
like a cult. If you are a week late getting a haircut does the
military father make you drink poisoned kool-aid?
On the other hand, since they are pushing weekly haircuts, maybe this
site was created by some barbers trying to drumm up more business.
that is right! it all makes sense now. they ARE barbers. because they do push weekly (or biweekly to give them benefit of the doubt) haircuts, and they also say not to get it cut by a female at a salon (yes, they do seriously say that) and to go to a "real" barber shop.
well, maybe they are not barbers. but it is an interesting notion, and i do not know what else they would be.
i decided to check out this stupid site. i dont find it a humorous site. first of all, i wonder whether the pictures that are posted have the permission from the long haired men. also, calling a man a "she" and "her" is sick. why would you try to dehumanize another man like that? just because he has long hair and you dont like it? i do not believe the "short hair" site is meant to be a humorous site. these assholes are the same types that have been bothering men with long hair for years. my point has always been the issue is not about long hair. it is about respect. you dont make fun of someone just because they have long hair, or are black or gay, or whatever stupid prejudiced someone may hold. p.s. by the way, i thought the guys with the buzzcuts looked like the same assholes you see at those neo-nazi rallies.
that is true. i was thinking that some of the absurd stuff sounded funny, but looking back, i agree with you a lot. they definately do have lots of what i consider to be hateful and degrading material. not argumentative or complaining, but completely hating. i guess i should have considered the damage they may have done to people with long hair more than the potential "humor" of what they said.
maybe i do not recommend the site as much now. anyway, thanks for replying to my post. :)
i have been to their website and have posted many messages telling them how stupid and bigoted they are. they have run like cowards. apparently, they are very upset that we are bothering them on their site. i have no problem with bothering them. hate groups need to be shown for what they truly are. i will not allow them to hide in the darkness like rats do. they need to be driven out in the open and be ridiculed for who they really are- A HATE GROUP, nothing more. i urge all my fellow longhairs to "invade" their site and tell them what you really think of them. dont allow them to hide.
and you are behaving no better than them by visiting their site and posting harassing messages on their board.
i disagree with you. the difference between our board and theirs is we are not about disrespecting and hating people. you said i am behaving no better than they are. i totally disagree with you. the only way to fight hate is to drive it out into the open. it is a very dangerous thing to sit by and say nothing. that is how these hate groups get started. people ignore them. dont fool yourself into thinking the issue is only about hair. it is not. this is a group that is targeting and abusing another group of people. it is no different than attacking someone over race or religion. THE HAIRCUT RESERVES IS A HATE GROUP. THEY BOND TOGETHER OVER DISLIKING ANOTHER GROUP OF PEOPLE. i am sorry but i cannot allow them to live in peace. they need to be responded to. you may do as you wish but i will continue to make sure their little group is not left alone.
i appreciate your opinion although i don't agree with it entirely. yes, they are sort of a hate group, but stirring them up is not going to bring their hatred out in the open... it's going to bring it here. if you wish to do battle with them, furnish their offending urls to yahoo/geocities or whoever their host is. i'd be willing to bet that the longhair photos they are ridiculing are not used with permission- perhaps there's an angle there but please dont go stirring then up because it will certainly accomplish nothing except draw unwanted activity here.
I could not have said it better. A similar incident had happened before (about 1/2 year ago) and I think some unhappiness was stirred up due to harassment of us on their site and in turn, theirs on ours. Such actions really got us nowhere except generating more hatred.
Eventually, one of our guys written a strong-worded letter to the board host about copyrighted materials used without permission, their old portal was shut down. We haven't heard from them for a while, till now. I feel that it'll be an uphill task to "eliminate" them completely from the web and not even to say, change their thinking to be less discriminating to longhairs.
So why now just ignore these lower beings and not let hatred fill our peaceful minds?
Peace,
Jin
i just wanted to inform you that i did contact their server and submit a complaint. i informed the server that one of their hosts was breaking the law by using copyrighted material and using images without permission. they shut "hair reserve" down. i was able to get results by fighting instead of ignoring them. i do not think people should ignore hate groups. hate groups are dangerous and need to be responded to.
you will do what you decide to do to discourage something that you consider to be hatred, but i request that you do hate them in return.
am i wrong here? i do not think i am. do you think it is good for the hateful to be hated? i do not.
(by the way, this message is totally off topic, so i would not be disappointed if it was taken out by moderators or not responded to. i just felt i should say it.)
happy hair-growing!
