After having grown my hair for 4 years (and I enjoyed very much my long hair), I wish to have short hair. I am just afraid to regret it after having a hair cut. I do not want to decide to fast. What do u recommend me to do ?
wait 2 weeks. if your desire to cut doesn't waver during that time then get your hair cut short.
1). At the end of the two weeks wear a short wig for two more weeks.
2). Allow two months to get over the shock.
3). Then ask the same question again.
I almost cut mine a couple of years ago! I still regret almost making the decision! It takes two years for your hair to grow out again. Think hard and don't make a quick decision. It takes 2 years to grow, and two minutes to cut short. If someone else is influencing you to cut it, do not listen to them. They may not have your best interests at heart! If you enjoy your hair, or have the slightest thought that you will miss it, then don't cut it short.
Good Luck!

You use the two week rule. If you think you want a hair cut for every
day of two weeks then maybe you do. If you have doubts on any days
then you are probably not really ready for a haircut. Worst case you
could have some cut and see how you like it. If you don't then start
growing it back. Bottom line, just think long and hard before doing
anything as rash as a haircut!
You should follow the 2 week rule. Decide now if you want to
cut your hair. If you still feel the same way in 2 weeks then
go for it. Think alot about it. Many have cut their hair
only to come back and say the regretted doing it.
From the fact that you're here on this board asking this question, tells something about yourself -- you are not ready to part with your hair.
4 years is a long time and I truly believe that you have beautiful long hair. Ask yourself truthfully if you're fully prepared to let all those hair go?
As always (and I think you'll expect our response to be), I urge you to keep it long. I've been there and done that (cut my long hair before) and I can tell you that you'll regret it if you do.
I agree with everyone on the 2 week rule. These urges come and go. But they don't last for two weeks. After all these suggestions you still don't follow us and cut your hair then you will not find sympathy here once you regret it. 4 years is a long time. If you decide to cut it then Good Luck with normalcy.
I was also a long-hair who cut my hair short before. I liked it for the first few days but hated it afterwards. Since then, I decided the next time I want to cut my long hair short, I'll have the LONGEST short length possible. You know, I was thinking Tom Cruise's hairstyle from "Vanilla Sky." It's still acceptable as a "boy's haircut," but if you ever decide to grow your hair out again, it'll save you about 6 months of growth.
It stinks, I tell you. I've been waiting over 3 months, and it's still not long enough for people to notice I'm growing it out.
I think I will compromise and cut it at shoulder length. I will see how it feels
that's just what I was going to recommend. If you want shorter hair that's cool but it doesn't mean you have to cut it really short, there are other options such as shoulder lenght or the Tom Cruise thing that someone else mentioned or maybe even an undercut.
I think about shoulder length but the same lenght in the front and in the back: even length in the front and in the back. I have strait hair. it should look nice.

I'd get it cut a little at a time. When it got to shoulder length, and if you still wanted it cut, I'd have 'em do a 180 degree cut, where it's layered from top to bottom and the bottom length stays the same. Then work up from there . . .

DON'T CUT IT !
