I am new here, I think.. :) Only been lurking for about 8 or 9 years..
I began 15 months ago from a shaved head, and have not cut or trimmed it..
I have brushed/combed my hair a few times in the last 15 months, but am really not into fiddling with hair, if you know what I mean.. (thanks nuttidave)
I shampoo once in a while, and condition once in a blue moon.
Just now entering the long(er) stage, and enjoying it..
I, me, I, me...... Enough of that... Well, just wanted to introduce myself to the group since I already know most of you all..
Hi. That's a lot of hair in just 15 months. You have came a long ways. Just keep it growing.
Regardless
Thanks, Buddy..!
Hey Traveling... Welcome to the board. Looking super for just 15 months and I'm sure NuttiDave is proud of your almost no-maintanence style. Looks very good indeed...congrats.
Cheers,
Max
Cool Max.. Your update was quite striking in its self.! Thanks..
Hi and welcome to the mlhh... but 8 to 9 years of lurking???Well better late than never I guess!LOL.
Your hair does look fantastic for the short amount of time you've been growing it out.I do believe you made the correct choice by giving up on the shaved head look.Longhair already looks great on you and you just started! You are definately a candidate for very long hair if that's your goal. Thanks for the cool pic of yourself as at least we now know what a longhair lurker looks like:)Take care my friend.
Mark
Thanks Mark.. Yeah, I would not mind letting it grow to max-length and beyond..! And yeah, I have to lurker thing down pat..
Damn I am jealous, my hair is no where near that long at 9 months, and I started growing even with hair!
Fantastic looking hair and length nonetheless at such a short amount of time :)
Patrick_R
Live Long and have a prosperous long hair journey.
TLH
Hey man...! Thanks..
Welsome and great hair growth for 15 months! Wish mine would grow that fast! LOL Anyway looks great and hope your doing great!
Hey thanks..!
Hi Spock,
You're a frequent poster on the beardcommunity board, aren't you? If you're not, you sure look like a guy there. Now with that board, I only lurk there, but post here.
Your hair looks very good for such a short time. You're lucky too to have such straight hair; no doubt that accounts for lack of activity and fiddling that has inevitably led to a nice looking head of hair. If I went without combing for a week, I'd have the beginnings of dreadlocks!
Live long and prosper \\//

Yes, Matt..
I have been a member over at the beard community since its inception and had migrated to there when Victor's Oasis (former owner of this site) went down..
Oh, and I'll trade hair with you - I love natural dreads.. :)
15 months from a shaved head? That's incredible! Keep it up!
Looks great.
jeff
Thanks Jeff... Will do..
wow dude only 15 months from a bald do/! im jealous lol im at almost 18 months and mine still isnt that long cause mines wavy/curly so mine will take longer to be that lenth but itll be worth it lol anyways great mane brother keep it growing, o and awesome tattoo as well!
Yeah, Mark... It does take hair like your longer to show length, but with hair like yours it is worth the wait! Thanks man..
Welcome "Spock", I'm glad you de-lurked! Wow, I thought I lurked a long time, 'bout a year before I spoke up, but you've got me beat. Your hair look marvelous and in good condition. Keep on doing what you're doing. It works.
Bruce
Thanks Bruce.... I have enjoyed watching your progress over the last couple of years or so...
Welcome and I am so glad that you are no longer a stranger. Great posting and shows magnificent long hair in the making.
So glad you are going the "nuttiedave" route, for that is the most fun of all and to heck with hiding hair while it is growing out under a hat. Besides, some of those "one of a kind" day looks along the way that will never be repeated again can be quite striking!
Best of luck to you growing out your mane.
Appreciate the kind welcome..! :)
Happy 60th!
Greetings. Your hair looks excellent, and I see you are one of lucky ones here that have great hair without having to spend a lot of time on maintaining it. You seem to be one of those guys that can probably use water only. Water only works very well for those who have low oil production. If you can use shampoo only occasionally, you can probably stop using it entirely and go with water only with good results. You might give that a try. Anyway, a hearty welcome.
Scott
Thanks for the hearty welcome, Scott.. :)
With my hair having been growing a relative short time period, I find myself playing be ear and learning as I go..
I tried the brushing with various brushes and combs, and do not like the "pop" "pop" noises.. I have thin and fine hair, I believe..
I said I wash once in a while, but should have said that my as it gets longer I find that I sebum takes longer to build up and justify a washing.. For what it is worth, I do actually have an oily scalp.. However, it seems that my scalp may be stabilizing its oil production with better care..
Popping is not good, it is the breaking of hairs. I have fine fragile hair too, but have managed to grow it to well over 3 feet long. Give a pick a try. During my growing out process, I found a pick and gave it a try. I was delighted with the results. The teeth are very long and widely spaced apart. To detangle, start at the ends of your hair and work your way up.
You will find that washing less often is usually best for long hair. It can take a week for the natural oils to reach the ends of your hair after washing.
Since long hair is something relatively new for you, it is a learning process. MLHH has a wealth of information to help you achieve your long hair goals.
Scott
Thanks for the Tip! I actually had not thought of that...
If I decide to comb it, I will get one of those picks and give it a try.. Do you use one of those on your calf-length hair?
Sorry about that.. I did not see/read that part or your message where you wear talking about using the pick... Good to know it works for you...!
I use only a pick on my hair and nothing else. The teeth are widely spaced which minimizes damage. A pick should work well on your hair too. Keep damage to a minimum and you should be able to grow it to your waist, considering how fast your hair grows. Height will affect how long it will take to reach waist length. If you are 6'6" tall it will take about 6 months to a year longer growing time for waist length than if you are 5'6" tall.
My hair is actually knee length. I would be nice if it was calf length, but I am grateful for the length I do have, considering my age. I am 55 years old.
I included a photo of me from the back. For a sense of scale, I am 5'10" tall (with shoes).
Scott
Hi TravelingSpock,
Welcome to the hyperboard, and I am delighted that you have decided to "de-lurk" and join our community. You will find everyone to be friendly and supportive, I am sure of that!
Thank you for sharing this outstanding update with us, and I cannot get over how fastgrowing your hair is. That is amazing progress in 15 months from a shaved head. Your hair looks great, and is in excellent condition, and I hope you plan to grow it a lot longer.
Welcome aboard,
David
Thanks David.. Appreciated the comments...
I have no intentions of cutting.. I am accepting the hair style mother nature have provided me..
Awesome mane and welcome from out of the shadows Mr. Spock
Kevin
Thanks Kev...!

Your hair looks very good.
Mighty kind of you..! :)
Welcome to the board (er, sort of...)! Great progress, and hope you keep posting. Keep it growing! =)
-James
Thanks James..
Have you decided if your are going to grow longer?
I always love love love your nature updates!
LOL thanks... Yes, I'm going to grow my hair back out (and then some). Thanks for asking! =)
-James
Hi TS, you have made great progress for 15 months. You are a longhair already and it looks really good on you too.
Glad to hear that you go for the 'no fiddling' routine, let nature do her thing and you will end up with the best results.
Cheers, Dave
She can be an outstanding teacher of truth, if we get out the way!
Thanks for the welcome.. :)
Your hair is awesome! Keep it growing long!
Looking damn good for 15 months! I like the shine and texture, similar to my own. Let's go for another 15, and beyond!
Cheers,
Hegg
Welcome aboard!
Thats a great lookin' mane you've got there. Seems you're doing everything right. The no fiddling route is definitely the best route to take. It provides the best results. Glad you decided to introduce yourself and step out of the shadows :-) Take care and keep it growing.
WOW, 8 or 9 years of lurking is one heck of a long time! Was your hair long before you shaved it 15 months ago? I'm a big fan of nuttidave's approach as well, --- although I can't claim to be "fiddle-free" about my own mane (lol)....
You have a GREAT head of hair, Dr. Spock, --- and it looks like it's easy to care for while travelling as well... And as you've probably already guessed, i LOVE your handle name (my partner is a Star Wars fanatic, so I tease him by telling him, "Captain Kirk was GREAT in The Empire Strikes Back!" (LOL)
Anyway, from one lurker to another, WELCOME!!!
- Ken in San Francisco
PS - I'm VERY behind in replying to many folks here, --- especially in congratulating Justin on his 60th b-day.... do people really live that long?? (Lol)
Thanks Ken..! I always enjoy your updates.. :)
Yeah, I have been lurking here about as long as I have been on the web! Over those years I have had my hair to shoulder length twice, I believe.. I was pretty much indifferent about growing it out in the past.. Actually - I was not trying to grow it out this time either, it just snuck up on me, so I thought what the heck - I'll keep it..:)
I ALWAYS get the star trek comments, I think they are fun.. BUT, I am not necessarily a fan.. The way that I got this nickname over 10 years ago is a long and not very interesting story..:)
But the nick does have meaning to me, so I still use it..
Thanks for the kind words, Ken..
Zac..
I envy your accomplishment. Had I not fiddled I do not think I could have ever achieved my shoulder length growth. I am even considering taking up the violin if that will help.
Caledonian
Welcome to the board Zac, I am amazed that someone could lurk here so long, we must have been quite a soap opera LOL (tune in next time as ...)
You've got a very cool look there in the pic Zac, and that is some fast growing and excellent hair.
I was going to say that growing your hair out was the 'logical' thing to do but since you're not especially a fan I will have to keep that tired joke to myself ;)
Take it easy
Welcome "TravelingSpock" (Trekkie??)
I am glad you finally unlurked after only 9 years !!
That is a lot of growth in 15 months, and looks very healthy....you should be sporting a good looking ponytail pretty soon.
Thanks for the update.
