I'm sure lots of people here know who Metallica is =P
The band was amazing throughout the 80's and early 90's with their kickass music, and awesome long hair not to mention. However, Metallica had taken a change in their music roots in 1996, and had all cut their hair.
Death Magnetic is their new album coming out on September 12th, 2008, and will return to their thrash metal roots, and it's beautiful to see Metallica shape back into what they were recognized as. I have personally heard some songs off the new album and they are amazing, you can hear them off Metallica's website. I'm sure Metallica fans will be pleased.
James Hetfield, and Lars Ulrich still have short hair today, but Kirk Hammett grew back his wonderful curly long hair, and Robert Trujillo has fantastic long straight hair. Hopefully, the whole band will have long hair again, and rock out even harder than ever \m/

hell yea bro thats awesome, i love old school metallica but i was very dissapointed at st anger so weak and not metal like their old school stuff! hopefully this will be the old metallica i been so long dying for
I probably do not know the band Metallica, but that's because I steer clear of metal music.
Unlike most long-haired men, Kirk only looks okay with long hair but Robert looks good.
It does not matter if the band reforms. Country, rap, and heavy metal music in general, gives me a throbbing headache if I listen to it at high volumes or for a long time.

I really hope they can come out with something decent that will match or exceed their 80's music. I used to like them back in the "hair band" days. Thanks for mentioning thier new CD. I will go in and give it a listen. I used to love Poison and Cinderella and Whitesnake and all that bunch too.
I love the new wave kind of music from the 80's such as Whitesnake, Depeche Mode, Poison, Phil Collins, Duran Duran and more, and I still spend long hours listening to this kind of music.

Dude Im psyched for their new album, and the song My Apocalypse sounds like a cross between Damage Inc and something from the Justice era. James needs to grow his locks out again he was a total badass with it.
This is GOOD NEWS!

Metallica ROCKS!
IMO, all their music rocks, but that's just me :)
I've been listening to them since I've been in the womb, not kidding! Gonna try to make it to their tour this year too--either in Oakland, Sacramento, or Fresno---Not sure---but definitely going to try!
Cant Wait for the new album!
Rock ON!
Peace

Of course I know metallica it's one of my favorite bands.
I like almost all there albums, I think it's great there experimenting with their style and don't play the same music over and over like a lot of other bands.
The only album I don't like was St. Anger.
Looking forward to their new album.
Saw them a few weeks back, I wasn't a fan going in but by god they put on some show, I will go to see them again if they come back to Ireland, I won't be listening to them on cd though as it's just not the kind of thing I'd listen to, but after saying that it was the best gig I've ever been to..tied with Iron Maiden two years ago of course
I've got to say, that this time around I'm a lot more sceptical of what Metallica release. When St. Anger arrived in the shops I went out on the day like some crazed Hetfield sniffing lunatic and crabbed a copy. Imagine my horror when I played it : / I think out of all the albums I own, that was the most disappointing ever. The previews I've heard of the new album sound alright but I think I'm gonna see if I can get a full album length listen before I commit to buying it this time. Even if Metallica changed their sound somewhat, say to classic metal sort of sound (sabbath etc) I would invite it. But, St. Anger seemed like a bit of a attempt at fitting in with the NU metal crowd at the time, which I hated.
St. Anger has to be one of the worst attempts at "music" ever recorded. It's the only Metallica album that I truly despised.
I've listened to 2 of their new songs. They're back to more of their usual sound. The horrible tin can drums of St. Anger are gone. The Day that Never Comes is okay. Hopefully the rest of the album will be better.

I don't think the band totally bit the dust, but the heavy, bluesy side disappeared altogether. Nowadays I just don't hear their history anymore. Some bands retain a signature sound throughout the years. Metallica haven't.... though you could argue it was purposely done.
