helo everyone its been a while since i last posted i am just curious that all of a sudden for the last 4 to 5 months im shedding hair like crazy maybe around 200 or more strands a day but before that my shedding ratio was around 10 strands in a whole week so you can clearly see the difference anyone facing the same problem here these days is it normal that in a period of a year there are 5 to 6 months when a person sheds lot of hair or maybe during the summer season im very worried about my hair please share your thoughts
Hi Aze. I also have been shedding a lot of my hair. Sometimes, it has to do with the season. Don't worry about it. An average human head loses 50-100 strands per day.

helo "aze" i am also shedding around 200 hairs a day too because this is my shedding season and it comes every year and lasts for about 3 months and then gradually goes away until i get to the next year which at that time i see around 200 hairs all over again so i know i am shedding the same thing as every year which has been going on all of my life this way and it seems to come in these cycles but never has really meant anything so i don't think you have anything to worry about because it is probably just a normal thing like in my case so i wouldn't worry and these are my thoughts

This has been a record year for shedding for a great many of our members. I can only speculate on why this is happening.
1) Global climate change may be causing it.
2) Maybe there is a change in the magnetic field of the Earth.
3) Maybe there is an increase in radiation from space.
4) It may be due to increased stress from a faltering economy.
5) It may be due to global air or water pollution of some kind.
6) It may be caused by alignment of planets or other celestial bodies.
7) Perhaps the recent meteor showers caused a slight change to the air we all breathe.
These are just guesses. It may be due to none of these.
The image you see shows a scary 910 milligrams of hair shed from only one washing. I gave up on counting hairs in favour of weighing instead. I am probably the only person here to keep a spreadsheet on just how much hair I actually shed. The amount I am shedding is now in decline:
wash 910 8/12/08
between 240
total 1150
wash 825 8/19/08
between 545
total 1370 (peak shedding)
wash 710 8/27/08
between 320
total 1030
wash 570 9/3/08
Probably about 80% is recoverable, so you can add another 25% to the above values.

This has been happening to me too!
Usually in winter I don't shed for a few days, then at the end of the week when I wash my hair I used to get like 100 hairs, so it didn't affect me at all.
However now every 3 days every time I oil my hair or wash it, big clumps are coming out :/... maybe even 200 hairs at a time! I guess summer's the usual time for loose hair to be shed... everyone seems to have this problem so it's nothing new (it's only new to me because I never actually had hair in summer before, it was always shaved or really short).
Don't worry it will cease in Autumn.

This is the first time I have long hair, so nothing to compare it with but I shed a lot too the last months.
Doesn't bother me, my hair is still there and still grows longer.
