I've been looking around here for quite some time now, and I finnaly decided to post. I've been growing my hair now for about 1 1/3 years now (Honestly, I never did keep track of when I decided to start), but its about 10 inches long now. My hair is fairly wavy and tends to curl at the ends.
I want to know if its possible to straighten my hair a little bit so that the ends of my hair aren't so messy (see pic). I usually Shampoo my hair and put conditioner in it every other day. Are their any products (Shampoo's conditioner's etc...) I could use to straighten it a bit? (Sorry for the bad pic but it's all I can get for now, I'll try for a better one later)
Welcome Dusty550. You have some really nice waves in your hair. You should not do anything with the waves and curls, as it will add character to your hair. You are probably going through the 'awkward phase' of hair growth, and during that phase, your hair is going to be a bit messy. Once you pass the stage, then it is a piece of cake.

Welcome to the board.
The curls at the end will look awesome when your hair is longer, but in the akward stage they can be anoying.
I wear a ponytail when the curls at the end drive me insane.
Glad you have posted and judging from your photo, you have thick and healthy hair. I suspect with just a little more length, the weight of your hair will solve things. I would not fool with any straightening products as your natural texture will look the best.
Thanks for posting and keep us up to date with your progress.

I wouldn't say you need to "straighten" so much as you need to "de-frizz" if you can give your waves a little definition, they'll be gorgeous. May I suggest Ojon Styling Cream, it's very hydrating, and good for your hair, and doesn't make it too greasy. You might also want to cut down on washing it a little bit so that you don't dry it out so much. Perhaps also you might want to switch to a gentler shampoo, I find that diluting a shampoo with 1 part water to 1 part shampoo is very good for this. Also Lush cosmetics makes beautiful shampoo bars that are much gentler on the hair than traditional shampoo.
My 2 cents worth is that I love the curls at the end of your hair. I've been lurking for sometime and I notice that a lot of guys seem to complain when this happens. My hair is just a little longer than yours is now & I love how it curls at the ends. This is the longest it's ever been and I had no idea it would curl like it has.
If you can de-frizz the ends using some of the suggestions from other posters, hopefully you'll come to appreciate the look for it's attractiveness.
Thanks for the replies, I'm almost out of shampoo (the one I currently use) and I need to figure out which other kind to try. But in the last few days I've been putting my hair and a ponytail and it looks alot better when I take it out of one now.
And I have to wash it every other day because it gets way to greasy looking, that pic was taken before I washed it (and in terrible lightig with a webcam).
