Hi there,
Does anyone know where Quenyan is? Some of you may remember he posted here about half a year ago, perhaps longer back, and then nothing. Maybe he made an announcement that I missed or something?
If anyone knows anything, please tell :)

Don't know where he is.
I miss more people, I've only been a member for about 6 months but I've seen people come and go it's just the way it goes with forums.
I had quite a lot of contact with him through the e-mail system on here, and his posts were always lots of fun to read. Oh well.
I've been lurking a lot myself lately, and time to do some catch-up work :P

I'd never have guessed, and that goes for a couple of other people who are still on here. Don't worry, though, I have no plans to "out" anyone.
I did sign the Tara petition, though. I'm surprised no-one posted about that on here, or maybe I missed it. In case anyone is wondering, the Irish government wants to put a motorway right past the hill that was their ancient capital.
I must say I had no idea that you were involved in running that board as well Bill, although I should have guessed. No wonder you want to "retire". It's all too much work.
I also took the opportunity to have another look at your wedding pictures, Bill. For a civil wedding I'd say that must be one of the nicest venues you could find.
Well, gaylonghair.com requires those who join their gallery provide a photo, so if you're there, you're out. You have to also already have your hair and you have to be an adult, so the guys there are mostly comfortably out with both their orientation and their being longhairs. That makes the flavor of their board quite different from that of MLHH. Interestingly, though, quite a few of gaylonghair.com's users have trouble proclaiming themselves "gay", "bi", or whatever, so the site just asks them how much they like men and women, and they seem to be comfortable answering that.
An aside - last night Larry and I were in a bar and a longhair there who swore he was straight couldn't keep his hands out of my beard. He said although he was straight he really loved facial hair. Larry and I laughed later, wondering how many girls he met with facial hair. [grin] He was an example of how people get caught up in labels, I suppose. But if they're on gaylonghair.com, you can bet they probably like long hair on men.
That board was actually started by me as a place for gay longhairs to post personal ads. A straight user of MLHH began work on a similar site for straight longhairs. Too many personal ads were ending up on MLHH and we wanted to give people a place elsewhere to post them. The original committee to get that rolling was made up of that straight user (long gone) and Victor and me.
The straight user never got his board off the ground so Victor put it up himself. In time it faltered. Others have since come and gone but none have ever achieved permanence.
The gay board's users wanted to include material in their posts from time to time that was more graphic than I wanted to host, so several years ago I gave that board to John and John, the couple in Michigan who still own and run it to this day. I set it up for them and occasionally I'll give them some advice on the software (as is the case at MLHH I mostly wrote it) but I have nothing to do anymore with its ownership or management. That is all handled by the two Johns just as Victor handled MLHH in its earliest days. As was the case with MLHH back then, the owners of gaylonghair.com have no moderators; they do that task themselves.
One difference between MLHH and their site is that they have substantial profiles for their users. Their site is thus both a site with profiles and a bulletin board while MLHH is just the latter. Their site is nevertheless much easier to moderate since it is all adult and its users do not need the sheltering that MLHH provides due to MLHH having teens, since more varied material is acceptable there, and since attempts to make personal contact with other users such as coming onto them are seen as okay. That bulletin board is also much less active. The owners are finding they can handle it themselves.
Yeah, it was gorgeous! We were delighted that there were no wacky protests or similar events going on at the time of our marriage. About half the time such stuff is going on, and San Francisco's City Hall can be a real zoo. But I suppose that is part of its charm.
