I'm worried about my split ends. I'm sorry that I don't have a good camera to take a picture of them right now, but they're all over my hair. Honestly, I'm a bit worried to go to the hair salon to get my split ends trimmed because where I live they don't do a very good job, they cut off too much of my sister's hair and now I don't trust it xD
I'm trying to learn how to trim split ends myself, but I'm also afraid that i'll mess up too. Does anyone know how to self trim split ends?
Here's a few pictures of the split ends on my bangs.
Best wishes,
Josh
Hi Josh. It is not that difficult. Just grab your hair till it is straight, and then cut off 1/3 inch or a centimeter off. That is just enough to get rid of damaged ends, without really altering your appearance.
Regardless
Hi Josh, Here is a link to "Feye's self trimming instructions". I trimmed once using these instruction and it worked quite well. It would be easier for you since you have much longer hair. Alternately you could employ the seek and destroy method, but you have too have a lot of patience.
Good luck,
Bruce

Hi Josh, here is a website that has instructions for a self trim. It should yield good results if instructions are followed closely.
Another way is to trim splits one by one which can be done while watching TV perhaps. Trim just above the split with a sharp pair of scissors.

Hey Josh,
My hair isn't as long as yours, maybe 1/2 your length, and is straight as well, anyways...
I've grown my hair about almost two years, and about three weeks ago I decided to go for a trim. My hair began to tangle whenever possible, sleeping, shampooing, blowing in the wind, everything...I asked my mom to trim the least possible(as she has a good knowledge of hair), just the split ends, maybe not even a 1/4 to 1/2 inch....
And indeed it helped, it is much more manageable, and looks even better, there wasn't even a loss of true length...
Back to doing it yourself, there are sites, such as the one that one the other guys have posted, to help you along..just take it easy, and whatever route you take, either hair salon like place or yourself, it will be just fine--just be very specific if someone does it for you...
Wish ya the best of luck dude,
It'll all be cool,
