...might I suggust that you put your time and energy into eliminating the real problem which faces most longhaired men today and that is discrimination in employment.
It's the company heads that adopt dress code policies that dictate how long a male wears his hair...this is forcing more men to cut their hair...more so than anything that is said on a small web site where a group of short hair men get together to discuss their obsession with short hair. They are not likely to cause any man to cut his hair...but the man's employer just might.
Also...there is a Yahoo Club devoted to forced haircutting on woman...it has been around for a while yet no one seems to care. Yes I saw the Haircut Reserves and did not care for what I saw...but I also saw that they did not condone forced haircuts either...they rather a man be convinced to get a haircut on their own.
I just feel that they were not much of a threat to us...not as much as amny employers are...justlook at Disney's dress policy for men if you need to be convinced. (Longhaired men are not part of their image...to me this is more of a problem facing longhaired men and does FORCES many to cut their hair in exchange for a job that need.)
I fixed them below...also I onced worked for a company that did tell me to cut my hair many times...and I did.
I, frankly think it's hypocritical, that these companies and themeparks, dictate this "No Long Hair. No Beards." policy to it's employees. They deal with a daily clientel, a percentage of which are longhaired or bearded men, or of both characteristics. So if the corperate bigwigs and policy-makers stand convinced, by their rules, they must look down on this percentage of customers, as some kind of worthless, slacker/degenerates, but are shrewdly quiet about it, since they want their continued business.
Yes, that is an interesting point. We should pose that exact question to the companies that do this and see what excuses they come up with.
I worked at a place where the "Disney" dress code was used and they loved my credentials until they found out I had long hair. I had to suggest that I could braid it and wear it under the uniform caps so that no one would even know I had long hair before they applied any brain power to the problem.
I worked for a resort here in FLorida that told me to get my shoulder length locks chopped off and get a 'regulation cut'.
when I asked why, they replied with this: 'it's a family resort and we want an image that is respectable to our guests'.
I disagreed with it and thought that it was asinine, but went to the barbershop anyway and noticed that the barber had a big smile on his face after he took the clippers to my scalp.
OK, so it's not long hair, but I'm glad Al Gore grew a beard. I personally think more men should.
I LOVE my beard. I did cut it off once to wear a respirator. I hated it, though my Mom loved it!
No, I'm not an Al Gore fan particularly, but I like that he grew a beard. I long for the day when a president wears a beard.
Abe Lincoln or US Grant, anyone?
Why doesn't someone tell these companies that if it's good enough for Abe Lincoln, it should be good enough for your company?
I run a small business and I don't care what they look like if they can do a great job!
The Paramount amusement parks are also against long hair just for the record.
Off the topic (and along my own thoughts) I heard about a website that gives info about the working conditions of jobs in a lot of the bigger companies... anyone happen to know the URL?
Of course if you go to work for a company they will complain about
your hair while the boss runs around with long hair (his long hair
is dragged accross his head to cover a huge bald spot).
There is?
Is this the one you refer to:

That Yahoo Club devoted to forced haircutting on woman seems to be more of a fetish topic. Check out some of the posts. It doesn't have feel of the "reserves" site...unless guys wanting to shave other guys seems gay to you. Hmmmm...
The haircut reserves is a kind of fetish site. Many of the men there probably won't admit to it, but I have read many of their posts on different boards, and they definitely have a fetish for short hair! You long haired guys have nothing to worry about from the guys at the haircut reserves. They are just obsessed with short hair, much in the way many on this site are obsessed with long hair. It's just two different extremes. They tend to go overboard with their obsession over there, but I wouldn't worry about them at all.
