My mom is (kind of) okay with letting my hair grow out but she wants me to cut the front part of my hair so its not in my eyes (when its wet I part it to the side and naturally it moves itself up thanks to the waves so I come it out front)
Im not sure, is that really a good idea if I want my hair past my shoulders? Im still in the "awkward" stage

I think it is, but that's just a matter of my tastes. I know it's not exactly the majority opinion anywhere, but when long hair was (allowed to be) in fashion, plenty of dudes wore bangs. I'd say go for a really deep bang section, though (yet another thing I didn't learn until late).
NO it is NOT a good idea to cut bangs if you are planning on growing your hair longer, because it will look silly as the rest of your hair keeps growing, as you want it to.
Plus, don't you think you're old enough to wear your hair how you want it, not how your mother wants it?
If however you want to keep it out of your eyes without cutting it, to appease your mom mostly, then why not use a little product? Like a gel or pomade? It'll stick it in place, and it doesn't take any real effort. Then you can wear it off to the side until you're past the awkward stage.
My mum did the same with me to with me to. What i argued with my mum is that when its longer i will be able to part it behind my ears and things like that and whilst it did take a good year and a half to get to that stage she consented and let me continue my long hair journey :) Good luck though as im sure whicever style you choose will be best :)
Well if you persuade you "mom" or mum then good for you and I think to let the bangs grwo would be better. Whty do moms have this thing about hair covering our eyes. Up to you mate and I hope you arrive at the right decision.
I'm sure our "trimmers would love it"...giggle!
Cheers,

Eventually they will grow out, it will take time and patients.
Try and tell your mom this and keep away from scissors. I would only trim the bangs or fringe as it's called elsewhere if you want to keep that style.

I know it's not the end of the world if you decide to cut your bangs only if thats what you want though. However if it's not then just explain that to your mom and just brush the hair from your eyes when you tell her that:)I'm sure if you are diplomatic about it she will eventually see how much longhair means to you.Anyway you look great with your hair and I wish you the very best my friend.

I vote "no" to the bang cut. No one...u'll look like a weird girl and number two...good luck when you wan to pull it back into a pony eventually. Maybe if you just combed it away from your face, or used some gel...mom would lighten up?

Are you trying to grow it all out, or just the back and sides?
If you're trying to grow it all out, then trimming your bangs is a bad idea. As for keeping it out of your eyes during the awkward phase, you'll just have to experiment with different styling methods and see what works best for you.
If, on the other hand, you're only trying to grow the back and sides, then your hair may be long enough to look stylish even with a trim.
Unfortunately, that's one of the drawbacks to being in the awkward stage. For about the next year or more, your hair is going to look like one big mop until it starts lying down under its own weight.
You'd better not get your bangs cut, you won't be able to ponytail it later which you might regret at that time.
Then you'll have to grow out your bangs which takes a long time.
the bangs look good on you, don't let it bother you.
Hi DiO
Your life will be easier if you leave the bangs the way it is. It takes a long time to grow them back if you cut them off so don't cut them.
Regardless
I would suggest using some gel or something else to keep it down and parted to the side. As it gets longer
it will become "trained", and naturally part in the middle if you wear it like that all the time.
Hey "DiO"
I think your hair looks fabulous just the way it is, but know what you mean about the stage you are in. Darn, but can't mothers well wishes sometimes get in the way of what a guy really wants? You are not the only to have heard this type of talk. Just stand your ground.
There are very good suggestions below as to how to deal with the bangs. Best to let it all grow if you desire to sometimes have all in a ponytail, but then, there IS much to be said about the earlier look of long hairs with cut bangs. Often styles DO make a come-back. I can well remember those days and the Rock Players look..........and believe me, they were a sensation and nobody had a bad word to say about this style. Just look at photos from the 70's-early 80's. Look-up Punky Meadows for an example. I don't for one think it looked all that bad this way and even my own hair has been like this in the past. The good thing about long hair is being able to do your own thing. And it is FUN! :-)
Best of luck to you. You are blessed with very good hair to work with.

I wanna put all of my hair in a ponytail eventually so Im not gonna cut anything.
I have this same problem and my hair is curly so at the sides of my face I have these big triangular dry masses of hair sticking out at like 45 degrees!!
Don't cut it! It will take FOREVER to grow out if u do! just try pull them behind your ears or gel or use hair pins once in a while to keep them compressed :)
