Hi everbody...
I am leaving San Francisco today. I will be going a little North first and then head south to Las Vegas with a few stops here and there...
I will probably arrive in Las Vegas on Wednesday or Thursday.
I had a great time so far and I will be posting more pictures after I return home (if there is some interest, of course).

Hey I live in Vegas so thats cool to hear!
Hi DiO,
Cool to know that at least one member of mlhh lives there :)
Actually, could you give me any hints on what is worth to see in Las Vegas? I currently only know that there are casinos.. :(
I would appreciate any hints for the city and the area.
Yours,
--Tom
Tom-
I spent many years living in Las Vegas and now am about 130 miles North West....Hope you have a great visit.
The casinos can be fun, with many great shows and good food. Depending are how much time you have, check with your hotel concierge service about a bus/boat tour of Lake Mead and Hoover Dam. You can drive to the dam, but there is construction traffic that could ruin your visit. Also there are wonderful one day flights to the Grand Canyon (North Las Vegas Airport, but your hotel can make flight arrangements and shuttle you to the airport). Fly out in the morning, have several hours on the Rim (south), lunch and a sunset flight back. Best tourist bargain in the area in my opinion. As a pilot (me too !!), you will enjoy that. Death Valley is a one of a kind area, but a long trip to do in one day and afternoon temperatures are still over 100.
Have a great stay.
Walter
Grand Canyon Flights
Hi Walter,
Thanks for the hints. I have been flying to Grand Canyon in a Cessna 172 about 4 years ago (on a trip from Palm Springs to Houston with two friends). It was very impressive and beautiful.
I might go to Hoover Dam, not sure yet. I will be passing through Death Valley when I arrive in Las Vegas (right now I am East of Yosemite).
Can you recommend a reasonably priced hotel in Las Vegas?
Cheers, Tom
Tom-
Too bad we did not coordinate this earlier.....you will be driving right past my place on the Nevada/California border near Death Valley Junction....maybe on a future trip.
For Vegas hotels, do a little on-line shopping, then call....most places will bargain with you for a price. The town of Prim is about 24 miles south of Vegas and has several hotels that are considerably less expensive.
Have Fun
Walter
Yes, shame on me.
I remember having seen a rather big house on the Nevada/California border (on 373 going north to 95) and I was wondering whether it was a shop or a gas station but I did not see any signs (actually I was distracted because a guy did a strange manouver in front of me).
I went to Caesars Palace for tonight. I thought, once in a lifetime I could do that. Actually, the rate for the room was lower and the room was much more comfortable and nicer than I expected. I even have a TV built into the bathroom mirror :)

if so theres a good chance I can see ya!
Yes I'm still here, any suggestions where and when?
I will leave Friday around noon towards California.
Yup pretty much everything Walter said is a good example of nature in the Las Vegas Valley. I also recommend going up to Red Rock and hiking over there its really colorful.
I live in the northwest part of town and about 6 miles away from where the Las Vegas Strip begins.
Where is Red Rock?
I will be arriving (most probably) tomorrow evening from the northwest. So, if we both look out carefully, we might see each other :)
Thanks, Tom
Hi Tom,
I didn't know you were coming to SF; but, recently I've been a little more out of the "loop" than I used to be, due to work, --- so, if you had a longhair meetup here, I probably would'nt have been able to make it, anyway. In any case... I hope you enjoyed visiting our naturally "air-conditioned" city!
- Ken in San Francisco
Hi Ken,
I know that, too much work... That's why I took a timeout and took some vacation.
Actually, I did not meet any longhairs here, but some 'regular' old friends.
And, your 'naturally air-conditioned city' caused me a sunburn because I forgot that cool air does not prevent the sun to beam...

Thanks for the picture Tom. That looks like the spot where Kim Novak jumped into the water in the movie Vertigo.
Please do post some more pictures. Be careful in Vegas at the Casinos! It's easy to get down quickly.

Hi Matt,
I don't remember that scene but I will give attention when I see it again...
I will post a link to my pictures when I'm back home.
And, don't worry, I'm not that much of a gambler to be in danger of getting down easily. But, when I think about it... Winning a few million dollars wouldn't be that bad, would it?
I will tell you, when I won a huge amount of money, ok?

Hi Tom that's a great pic of the GG Bridge with the fog and all as that would make an awesome post card. With all that fog it must be hard seeing all the longhairs.LOL.Anyway hope you are having fun on your vacation and remember if you ever stop in the NYC area do let me know.Oh and I'd love to see all your pics after you return home:)
Mark
Hi Mark,
The fog went away and I've seen quite a few longhairs. Actually I think that long hair is becoming fashion again in the US.
I enjoyed my time in SF and am looking forward to the rest of my trip. Still two weeks to go!
NYC is not on my closer schedule, but if you ever happen to travel to Switzerland, let me know as I would let you know when I got to NY.
Oh and yes, I will post a link to my pictures after I return home...
