I found this interesting feature on a trawl of the net.
The Luxuriant Flowing Hair Club is a club for Scientists who have, or believe they have, luxuriant flowing hair. Quite a good number of long-haired boffins both men and women are featured here.

Our own DavidN became a member of this illustrious group just over six months ago.
I've also enjoyed perusing that site. Thanks for the link for those who've not seen it before. :)
My Hair Site
Thanks for sharing this, Franny was earlier than me to post this but our own board member is also there.
I included a link to this.
David was a more recent one, I helped him get in by not only nominating him (they even mention me by name as the nominee; David was too shy to nominate himself + he didn't know of any online sources for his research papers), but also helping him out with the location of his research credentials, which I subsequently was able to locate on Pub-Med. Our other board member, is none other than Victor Engel, who runs the MLHH! His is on page 2 of the archives (link below), scroll about 1/3rd down the page to find his listing, which contains a link to here. I believe our other David, Antesse, was interested in this, I think his GF Kett was going to help out with the nomination. I wonder if anything was submitted yet? It did take several months for David N's nomination to be accepted, and his name published on the site.
Nominating is a fairly easy process, you need to submit credentials showing the worthiness of the nominee, plus a clear photo showing the luxurious locks. This was the text originally contained in David N's nomination. This is basically the format you would follow. I think it would be great to see more longhairs from the MLHH on there. But Victor and David are a good start. BTW, the IG Nobel Prize 2008 winners are up on the site, a good read for sure. Check the Winners list link on the sidebar menu on the left.
I, Carol Lucier, would like to nominate my dear friend, David H North, to The Luxuriant Flowing Hair Club for Scientists. In addition to having luxuriant flowing long hair, David is an analytical chemist for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, working in the Dartmouth Laboratory in Nova Scotia. http://pub.directinfo.agr.gc.ca/cgi-bin/x500_QuickSearch?lang=0&unitdn=OU%3DNSAOK-BSNEK,OU%3DATOPMNB-OAMNB,OU%3DOFVPO-BVPOP,OU%3DCFIA-ACIA,O%3DGC,C%3DCA&searchtype=employee&name=David+North
David wrote to me concerning his education, "As to my education, I received my BSc degree with first class Honours in Chemistry from Dalhousie University (Halifax, NS) in 1975. I received my Masters degree from the same university in 1979. The reason for the 4 year space between degrees is because I finished my research for my thesis in 1977, then started working in 1977. I wrote my thesis after I had already started working full time, so wrote it after hours."
David is co-author of the following scientific papers;

David has given his enthusiastic consent to be nominated, and hopes you will find him worthy of membership. (As do I!) The attached picture shows David at work, surrounded by the millions of dollars worth of equipment he uses. His hair is even more luxuriant and flowing today. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Carol Lucier
David was actually concerned his credentials were not enough, as most of the members have Doctorates, and he only has a Masters. I pointed out to him that several other members had only Masters, and many were students in school working towards degrees, and a few, including the MLHH's own Victor Engel, are amateurs. I knew he really want to be a member, so I enlisted my help to get it done. I always felt he deserved to be there, and I suspect other MLHH members do too. I am also sure other members would be happy to nominate those too shy to nominate themselves.
Thanks Carol for that bit of info, I didn't know Victor was in there too. One learns something new every day.
Kevin
Well that was a delightful surprise, but we all know that Victor is a bright fellow with diverse interests. Well done Victor!!

Hi Franny and Vincent,
Thank you for mentioning this, Franny, and thank you to Vincent for posting the link!
Thank you both!
David
Most of all thank you David for being such an outstanding inspiration to all of us here and for the work you do here on the board. People like you are a true gift and thankfully we have you here with us.
Thanks again
Kevin
Hi Kevin,
Thank you for your very kind words about me, and you have really made my day, on this Canadian Thanksgiving Sunday! I have SO much to be thankful for these days!
Take care,
David
