Just thought that you guys might find this video amusing!

A Troll would find this the most amusing of all.
But HARDLY Feminine. No way! :-)
Well, I've had a careful look in the mirror and I don't look anything like Shrek!
Been a long-time lurker; always liked your hair Jason, thanks for the kind welcome!
...and a great point....hardly feminine !
About a year ago, DJs on the local country station were clucking their tongues and slamming Trace Atkins for his appearance at the Country Music Awards wearing his hair in a bun.....scheese
Glad to see that someone appreciates what I was trying to get across :-)
You point being?
My point being that having lurked here for a year or so while my hair has been growing out and having seen how often guys say that people accuse them of 'looking like a girl', I just wanted to share this video of a very masculine guy with long hair and a guy with short hair who is not so butch! I thought it would amuse you!!
I think I might go back to lurking now............
Sounds like you wear you feelings on your sleeve. Might be best if you did.
Maybe you should made it more clear in your post why it was funny, I also didn't catch it. He has some nice hair indeed.
Yes. It was unclear to myself as well. Just a few more words to explain would have done it. In any case looks like all is solved now and the point well made.
Absolutly not. Trace Adkins is as macho and manly as you can get. He has a great mane. I liked that video so much that I watched two more for good measure.
I have a very opposite view of what most of society thinks. I personally feel that forced haircuts and removal of the beard is done to feminize males.

What was that all about?
One reason for the initial reactions to your post is we have been seeing an uptick in new posters, and a few more trolls. we welcome contributions but when a perfect stranger comes along with a video and a short post it makes us wonder.
MLHH is like a big room full of people a party if you will. You enter the room and either stand aside and just watch or you jump into the mix, but in a party situation you would sort of introduce yourself as you may know of the people in the room but they don't know you. we get a lot of "Oh I've lurked here for years" it really doesn't mean much until we get to know you. It's also a little odd a lurker for a long time will jump in with a post and not say something more, again an intro of sorts.
There are some basic social skills that apply nothing we put into the rules as they are common sense. You've lurked here for
a while I'm sure you've seen it already.
My comments aren't pointed at you they are to give you an idea of why the reaction.

I've always enjoyed this video. As long as Trace Adkins has been in the music business, he seems to have had long hair. For those who don't know, he's probably about 6'5" and a pretty big guy; he has a deep voice and a presence, if you will -- the epitome of "manliness." (I will omit a definition of the word as it opens further contention.) long+growin's title post of "Long hair = feminine??" stands as a rhetorical question, not an implication of long hair being feminine. We here all know that long hair is not a sex determiner either way. But we do know that long hair is commonly perceived by the hoi polloi as a trait associated with the feminine. The Adkins video and Trace himself fly in the face of this erroneous sentiment -- that long hair "equals" feminine. What might be seen as amusing is the implicature of the video. You see a "redneck" driving around an old Chevy and getting the girl. Trace in the video is the personification of that redneck masculinity/mentality that oftentimes, in other cases, will/would be the source of longhair anxiety from taunts, etc. But the little paradox here is that it is the redneck sporting the long hair and being the protagonist of the song's development into the video story. It's the short hair who is seen as weak and the loser. The inversion of stereotypes concerning hair length is a possible source of humor as is the very belief that the "redneck" persona should spurn long hair whereas that is not the case in reality. It's a form of irony, which can be funny. I am a redneck personally and also have long hair.
This is obviously what I should have said before posting the video!!
I will try to reply to some of the points made below:
Kevin: thanks for your comments - point taken. I never was much good at small talk and am obviously no better on the net than at parties!
Neil: if you look what I wrote in answer to JohnB and what Matt B put so much better in his post, your question will be answered.
Absalom: Glad you enjoyed it - it made me laugh and I thought that his hair looked great.

Thanks!
Optime! :-)
