I visiualize all these men running to their doctor "Doc take a
look at my genes and see if I have those hair loss ones".
It is a good thing that they are making progress now lets hope
they can come up with a breakthrough in gene therapy for this.

I posted the news item because it seemed mildly interesting to me but I worried a bit that it might get hopes up. Hate to sound pessimistic but I wouldn't expect anything to develop anytime soon. For one thing, hair loss isn't considered a major medical problem for which a cure will get researchers the Nobel Prize in Medicine. Any cure would probably not be covered by health insurance plans in the U.S. at least, meaning pharmaceutical companies might not profit very much. You'd think there would be millions of bald men beating a path to a cure but surprisingly many bald men don't mind being bald and some even like it. Amazing isn't it? I don't get it, but there are a lot of things I don't get like sports for example.
Anyway, indifference or acceptance of MPB is part of the reason why Propecia has experienced kind of disappointing sales for Merck. And MPB has to get in line behind cancer and HIV and many other life threatening diseases that demand a bigger percentage of research funds. But who knows, I certainly am not a professional medical industry analyst so I'd be delighted to get news of a new genetic MPB therapy sooner than expected.
I agree with you on all points. The only way for a good amount of research and or success will be achieved is if someone can make a lot of money off of it.
Most insurance plans wouldn't cover it but virtually all of them cover Viagra. LOL show's you where our priorities lye.
