All I can say is always carry at least a small tripod, and having a remote is a wonderful wonderful thing!
Absolutely beautiful! Thanks for sharing this Art Photo with all of us.
Some shots just have to be tried for, trite or not, because they work!
Such a beautiful picture and you certainly have a knack with a camera.
Cheers,
John.B
I just got really really lucky! I tried to line up our shadows and pace off a reasonable distance, but there was only time for a single series of shots, so no do overs!
Flawless shot there, Trolleypup, --- I can even identify the silhouette's inclusion of long, flowing hair!!!
Big Sur Coast? If not there, were you on the coast North of SF then (like in Mendocino County)?
Wherever you took that shot, it's just BEAUTIFUL, regardless!
Thanks,
Ken
Both of us, even!
This was actually up on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington...Second Beach at La Push.
This 2nd pic of the two of you is hands-down outstanding in every way, --- it even looks like one of those prefessional cards that Hallmark sells: you know, with the romantic, sappy poems inside (lol)!!
Actually, the above comment doesn't do the photographer or the models justice: it is WAY better than any Hallmark card I've ever seen!
Thanks for sharing your outstanding photography here, Trolleypup, and thanks also for the info on the area that these beautiful pics were taken!
Long Lox 4ever,
Ken
It is pretty good for what it is...there are things I'd do differently if I really wanted to get the hallmark shot...like I'd've spent the whole sunset on getting the shot, better tripod, or better, a photographer and/or a person to help us pose most felicitously...and not have to worry about getting the remote pointed the right way to actually trigger the camera and interrupting the, ummm, posing.
But then, we wouldn't have had time for the walk on the beach or the other 150 shots. Yeah...just like the cards, sappy and romantic inside.
Candids often have an immediacy and honesty that posed, commercial shots don't. Anyway...it was fun getting the shot!
For sure!
Not that that shot couldn't have been done at any number of places up the West Coast, given the combination of land, water, weather, and light.
Wow... just wow. That is one of the most beautiful photos I've ever seen. Good job.
I agree....just WOW! is all I can come up with.
Those are great pictures, Trolleypup and Dianyla!

Trolleypup, Awesome shot of a beautiful couple!
Picture postcard perfect!
peace, jonalbear
Hey Trollypup....good to hear from you, seems like it has been a long time.
Thank you for sharing that incredible photo...I am so jealous on so many levels ! HA!
Take Care
Walter
It is the eternal dilemma...do stuff OR talk about it! Lately, I've been doing a lot of DOing! And making the sacrifices to allow all that doing...like I now have to go to work every day for a while...no more time off available!
That is one of the most beautiful photos I've ever seen. Great job
You two must have some kind of record length for a couple if both of your hair lengths were added together. This picture is fantastic. Great scenery and a perfect setting to frame you two.
Heh! Well, sure, although I know a few couples who come close.
Thanks, sometimes everything comes together with some luck for a good picture. And truly? It is a beautiful scene for a solo beachcomber picture, or Just Another Gorgeous Sunset Shot.
One of the most spectacular photos I have ever seen! Glad you mentioned where these photos were taken as they had the look of the Oregon Coast. Well, I wasn't too far off.
The location was good, but there are any number of similar locations that would serve as well.
The important part is being able to recognize what might work for the photograph, given the current location and conditions. And what won't...there is a nice natural bridge at the end of the beach, which, sadly, was all wrong for photography.
That is an incredibly artistic photo. It is like out of a storybook. A prince and his princess, just lovely. A professional photographer could not have done this any better. I am amazed that you were blessed with no rain there at this time of year.
Scott
Trolleypup, these photos are truly stunning. They took my breath away. It's hard to enhance the natural landscape with the addition of human beings, but you have managed to do it.
My Hair Site
What a beautiful, romantic silhouette. :-)

Hey Trolley...loved those photos...well done. And I like the subtle erotic message of this one. :-)
Cheers,
Max
Yeah, you noticed that rock pinnacle too, Max. I had the exact same thought too and wondered when a comment would be made about it.
Scott
I like someone else's perspective that it is a giant thumbs up.
You are right, now that I think about it. It must be over 100 feet tall. Again, it is great that you had good weather. Usually it is pouring rain by October in the Olympic Penninsula.
Scott
I've had pretty good luck with late summer visits to the Olympic Peninsula...
Pure Luck! of course.
This photograph is simply awesome. Photography is more about light on objects (or, in this case, light on hair!) than it is about the objects themselves.
*is a smartass, please excuse me*
Indeed, without light on objects, photography isn't very interesting.
How you capture that light makes the difference between ho hum history pictures, and things that make you go Oh My!, and then there is stuff like this:
National Geographic: Crystal Palace
Hi Trolleypup,
What a beautiful photo, and there is something truly magical about the lighting at this time of the day.
Thanks for sharing,
David
Your are so right always be ready for a great shot. You really lucked out on that one but then my best shots are the ones I didn't expect.
Great pic thanks for posting it.
Kevin
I did spend my vacation toting around the big camera...I think I took about 2000 images during those two weeks. So I was prepared to take pictures...we drove, and hiked out fast so we wouldn't miss the sunset...coming down towards the beach I knew I was just in time...
...and paused to take a few pictures, hoping the camera could do what I didn't have the time for...
...just before stepping onto the beach...
These from the Olympic Peninsula....hummmm I'll have to add that to my trip list for next year or maybe the year after.
Kevin
Very nice photo scene. Looks very Tolkienesque -like something out of LORD OF THE RINGS.
Wow those are nice pictures, great idea to play with the sunset like this.
