Hi Guys
For so many years, many of you have expressed interest in knowing what my music sounds like. I have been a composer of Classical (Longhaired Music) since my earliest days. Anyway, without boring you more, after trying for a week, I have just had success uploaded a short piece of mine composed in 1992. Translation of the title is " Valse Sentimental in the style of Maurice Ravel." Just look me up on You Tube under the user name of Musique3579 and it will bring you right to that video of which I will be adding more.
Hope you are all having a great weekend.
Justin~
It is hard to believe that the same person who breeds man-eating plants can create such lovely music ! HA!
Seriously, that is a lovely composition and your play wonderfully.
Is that an electronic keyboard you are playing? Sounds much too rich for a spinet.
Thanks for sharing and I look forward to seeing/hearing more/
Walter
*Ha Ha Ha..........it would amaze you some of the things that I do.........and always so off the wall! :-)
*Thank you Walter. You are always so kind.
*Yes. It is a Yamaha that to my ears is every bit as good as an acoustal Piano. Just "basic" Piano, no drum beats, Trumpets or fake clapping sounds. LOL
*Just keep watching as I will be puting many things on. (Not all for Piano.........other instruments as well and not all of course being played by myself.)
Take care Walter-
Justin~
Ps: Just put on another this evening.
"...It is a Yamaha that to my ears is every bit as good as an acoustical Piano..."
Very impressive......I am a piano technician (on the side) and to my ear also, it sounds very much like my Yamaha Grand. I played a Yamaha electronic keyboard a few years ago and was impressed with the key touch and sound (and that from an acoustical purist).
OMG WALTER! I cannot believe. I was most all of my active musical life a Piano Technician as well and KNOW the art of tuning which I have done thousands of times for individuals, School Systems and even for the Symphony. (We musicians have to do all kinds of things to make ends meet.) I had to sell my Grand Piano last year as medical bills had to be paid. But you know what? That electronic Yamaha sure keeps me plenty happy enough..........and in a way I like it BETTER than an acoustical Piano. Now, I know a remark like this sounds impossible......but its true! Also the action feels the best!
One thing I ALWAYS wondered about Steinway. WHY did they make it so idiotic in the way the cheeks and fallboard come in and out of the Piano so the Technician is able to gain access to the movement? I was shaking in my boots back in CT. when in my 30's at being called by Watkins Bros. Pianos to go and tune the Piano of Horowitz at his Summer residence in Kent CT. (But I couldn't do it for I had two Weddings to Play for that day at the church where I was Organist.) Whew........I have often wondered what I would have done if Horowitz said he didn't like my Tuning? :-0
Take care Walter-
Justin~
Wow, that really is a great piece, and completely original. It's sad that classical music is a style being forgotten nowadays, it really is quite beautiful and calming. And you sir, are an excellent pianist, thanks for sharing!
Another musique junkie,
-Christian Epp
Yes, in many ways it IS sad. The general population however is not exposed to the "Original Music" and those that gravitate towards Classical most likely come from familys who are musicians of such themselves. Also, there is a BIG money factor involved as the latest tunes of the day blare out of every radio and the people are told what is the weekly hit. But the people don't know and the bottom line is money, money and more money to be made off the masses. Thank you so much for your thoughtful comments.
Justin~
Hi Justin,
I would love to be able to hear you play, but everytime I search for "Musique3579", I get the message "no videos found", and perhaps I have to be a member of that community to be able to access the member list. The only options for searches that I get are "videos" and "channels", with no ability to search for member names. I will try again tomorrow!
Take care,
David
Hi Decapitated_Vogg and Justin!
Thank you, Decapiated_Vogg, for providing the link, and it works perfectly! (I cannot figure out why my searching did not work for me earlier)
Also, to Justin, what beautiful music, and it is a true delight to hear you playing the piano! You are very talented, and I look forward to hearing more of your music.
Take care,
David
YES.......THANK YOU Decapiated_Vogg for your kindness in making the site available as you did. I would have done such but didn't know how. That was very thoughtful of you and much appreciated.
And thank you David for your comments about the music. Always appreciated coming from you.
Justin~
Beautiful piece Justin. I'm in total awe by such creativity! Thank you for sharing this with us.
Bruce
Hey Bruce
I guess if I were not a composer I might be in awe as well........but I will never know. Composers HAVE to have some screws loose.........and probably that is the reason that they can compose. It is an art that is totally unteachable, that is NOBODY can teach one how to think-up and invent a piece. Sure, there ARE rules about correct notation of the piece so that others can play it. Guess one must just be born with the ability. Happy to share this 1st piece uploaded and if you liked it just return and there will be others being put on.
Thanks Bruce-
Justin~
Hi Justin,
Short but very beautiful piece, full of sensibility. You seem to be in touch with your instrument !
Is that a christmas tree that I see in the background ?
Let the music play ;)
Vivien
Thanks Vivien and so glad you liked this particular work. But then the great composer Ravel was from your country and has surely made one of the biggest impacts in the world of Classical Music with the several styles he composed within. And yes, that is a small Christmas Tree which I leave up all year. Looks as nice in the Summer as in the Winter........and it never needs to be watered! LOL
Take care Vivien
Justin~
Justin I'm impressed. That was a really nice piece and to think all this time we had a talented composer in our midst. In time do try and get more of your work up on youtube, we'd love to hear it.
Kevin
Hi Justin
That's some very impressive playing as you look right at home in front of the ivories:)It is so cool that people can put up videos such as yours for all to view.Isn't technology amazing. Thanks so much for doing the video and for D Vogg for supplying the link.Hope you had an awesome weekend out west my friend.
Mark
Hey Mark
Ever so kind of you to say my friend and I am so out-of-shape when it comes to playing. But then, what does one expect if they never practice and rarely play the Piano anymore? Oh well, at least people will get an "idea" of what some of the pieces I upload in the future are suppose to sound like even if the performance and technique is no longer quite there. But then too,one has to consider the source. LOL
Hope you are having a great week Mark and not caught-up in that snowstorm I have just read about.
Take care-
Justin~
Excellent, Justin. I love to listen to this type of music at times; I find it extremely relaxing and mind-clearing, if that makes sense. Nothing but pure music to fill the senses.
Glad you liked the piece Big George and as of today there should be at least 3 available to listen to. And yes, nothing like pure music to fill the senses. It is the only I can write and I am convinced the reason is that I grew-up surrounded by Classical music in a family of artists and musicians.
Wow.. I am really impressed, Justin. That was beautiful! I would seriously buy your stuff if it was on sale in a physical format. Sounds great!
Take care,
Hegg
Hey Hegg
You are always such a gentleman and I thank you very much for posting what you did. I would be more than happy to send you some pieces as I still have extras of so many now burried by publishers who went bottoms up......and with that my music is burried forever as they owned the copyright. Just send me an email and I will see what I can do to get some of my music off to you that is printed.
Take care Hegg
Justin~
ps: And NO cost either.
You're quite welcome!
My email: Nattestid1349@aol.com
Thank you so much!!!
You are talented for sure, Justin. I knew you played the piano but had no idea that you also compose beautiful pieces of classical music too. I look forward to hearing your next piece.
It seems to me that longhairs are more talented than the general population.
Scott
Wow Scott. Funny thing as I was just thinking this the other day and I DO think you have a point well made. I have noticed this all of my life as well. Could it be because we longhairs are NOT afraid to be ourselves and are NOT clone-followers? Being a Clone would stiffle creativity and snuff out the individual. So gald you liked the piece. Just put another on tonight.
My best to you as always Scott-
Justin~
Wow! that was a great piece for piano, and it does have a sentimental mood. Is there any place where I could find more of your work?
Thanks! Most of my works that were in publication went down with the publishers and along with them the copyrights signed over to them. Alfred in CA. has bought-up most all of the major publishers and has all of the works burried someplace. I could NEVER have forseen such a major publishers as G Schirmer and Belwin Mills going bottoms up, but they did. Willis in KY has quite a few of my Piano works and a number of Pieces for Organ. Beckenhorst Press in Ohio has 2 Choral works, and Alphonse Leduc & cie of Paris France has 3 works, those being for Flute and Piano or Flute and Harp. I have noted that now and than my pieces sometimes appear on Ebay. The days of getting something into print are about over with "in-house Composers" working within some of the companies using different names for the same person cranking-out works which can be sold to the music stores. A sign of the times and of our economy.
Yes, it is really sad that they now produce music like factories, especially given the fact that composing music is something that requires skill and talent. if i ever find your music i'll be sure to give it a try!
Justin,
That's a beautiful piece of music. Something I can definitely chill out to.
Keep it growin' and playin'!
Brett
Growing My Hair Out...Again! Progress Pics
Hi Brett and thank you so much for your very kind words. I appreciate what you have said very much. (Just got another short piece on tonight.)
With all best wishes and great long hair success.
Justin~
Justin,
Beautiful piece! Great work - are you planning to post more? I would enjoy hearing additional compositions, as I'm sure others would as well!
Z
Thank you so much Zach. Yes, I will be posting more and more works and just put another on tonight: Chant d'Amour (Song of Love) from my "22 Miniatures in Free style." My plan is to only upload shorter pieces or perhaps "excerps" fom larger works as so few people have the patience to sit still for 10 minutes........but something brief holds the attention the best.
All the best-
Justin~
Justin, lovely piece my friend, such creativity and soul.
Peace to you,
Dave
Thanks so much Dave, and you have just hit on a point in regards to myself. I can be heard inside for what I am in my music. That is who I am. No finding the "Inner Child" for me...........more like finding half-notes and Quarter-notes etc.
All the best-
Justin~
Absolutley stunning Justin! Lovely and gentle, well phrased and great dynamics. I cannot wait to see/hear more of your playing.
Take care friend
Neil
Can you play Ravel's Toccata? If you can, you're a scaled down version of god. : D
Hey Neil
Thanks so much for your very kind comments. As for Ravel's Toccata from Le Tombeau de Couperin: I was playing that when I was 16 years old and played it to death, and though I have not played it since am STILL not tired of that work. If I were to try it now however, I am so rusty I would need all the oil in the world to get me going again! LOL
All the best-
Justin~
Justin, I just got to listen to your music. I have to admit I don't know much about music at all, but I know what I like to hear, and what I heard from you is what I like! Awesome.
Like the title too "Ete Soir"; how pretty. The French makes it more so; that certain "je ne sais quoi." ;-)
Thanks, and please post more.
Matt B.
Hey Matt
Thanks so much for your kindness and glad you liked "Ete Soir." Funny thing about that one. THAT WAS THE ORIGINAL TITLE OF THE PIECE with (Summer Evening in ()'s) under it. The publisher (Willis) sent me the proofs to read for mistakes before going to press and CHANGED the title on me and reversed the titles. By the time the thousands had been printed-up it was too late. Oh, they can be such a crafty bunch. If you only heard 1 piece look below for as of tonight I have a total of 5 pieces now on. In will be uploading before too long recordings..........and for those will have to show the cover on a CD or a picture of some type.........especially for a few things for Orchestra.
Actually, there is really nothing one needs to know about any kind of music to enjoy it. Either one likes what they hear or they don't. Simple as that! No study required. :-)
Take care Matt
Justin~
