Good morning, everyone! I don't post updates that often, since my hair grows slowly. I sometimes wonder if it is still growing, but I took a few photos a couple of days ago, and thought I would share them. This is about 4 and a half years of growing, but I did go through a period of almost nil growth about two and a half years ago, when I abused my hair due to daily use of a straightening iron. That period of nil growth lasted about 8 or 9 months, from late 2005 to the fall of 2006. My goal is to achieve waist lenght or longer hair some day, and I am inspired by some other guys on the hyperboard close to my age, these being Justin, Absalom (Scott), Urban Cowboy (Ken), and Karsten. If I could achieve hair resembling any of their manes, I would be most happy!
Since the weather was dry, and my hair had just been washed and dried, it was straighter than usual. Here are the photos!
Here is a gront photo. Please excuse the goofy expression! I did not quite get all my hair in the photo.
Here is a side photo.
Here is a ponytail photo.
Here is a back photo, and again, I need to stand further from the camera, since not all of my hair is in the photo.
Finally, for comparison purposes, here is the first photo I posted at the hyperboard, 2 years ago. My hair seems to have grown a bit since then, and seems to be in better condition as well.
Thank you for viwing, and comments are always welcome! I would also like to thank everyone for their support during the past two years that I have been a member of this community.
looks damn good David! very healthy and well kept congrads on 4.5 years of growing thats a long time :), the first time i grew my hair out i used to straigten my hair alot and at 15 months of growth i burned out my hair and had to start over and now im at over 19 months so i def learned my lesson lol
Hi Mark,
Thank you for your kind words about my update, and it is good to know it is still growing!
I started to straighten my hair about a year into my growing, and only stopped at about the 2 1/2 year mark, when I realized that my hair did not seem to be growing at all, possibly because of damaged ends that were constantly breaking off. I stopped straightening in September, 2006, about the time I found the hyperboard. Slolwy, but surely, the damge is growing out, and I hope that I can achieve my hair length goal.
Thank you again,
David
That's a lot of difference from the other picture.
Grativy does the trick, no straightners needed!
I'm glad for you that your hair is growing again and it will be cool to see how long it can get.
Hi Vincent,
Thank you for your kind words, and slowly, but surely, the damge is growing out. Hopefully, I can achieve my goal of waist length hair, or longer.
Take care,
David
Wow David, your hair has grown a lot in 2 years!!
and it looks longer than even a few months ago, where your hair all fit in the photo in the front-view photo.
keep it up! i think you will definitely achieve your hair goal :)
and your hair looks very shiny and smooth!! well done, you take a lot of care of it.
I love the natural colours too :D
Shawn
Hi Shawn,
Thank you for your kind words about my latest update, and I am glad to know that it is still growing, slowly but surely! Hopefully, I can reach my goal of waist length, or even longer hair.
Keep growing that fabulous curly hair of yours!
Take care,
David
Great update David !
Even slow progress shows and you certainly have a good length now.....
I really like your silver highlights which have definitely increased since you have been with us....
Thanks for Sharing
Walter
Hi Walter,
It is always great to hear from you, and I admit that I rather enjoy my natural silvers as though slowly take over. Slowly but surely, my hair is growing, and perhaps one day, I will have waist length hair.
Take care,
David
Absolutely stunning, David! I love the look of your tail, it looks great on you. You're very lucky to be growing such a mane, most men in your age spectrum would have little to no hair, but you're growin' strong and healthy, looks great. Keep up the great work, David!
Cheers,
Hegg
Hi Hegg,
Thank you for your kind and inspiring words about my update, and I rather enjo my natural silvers as they slowly take over. I have to consider myself lucky to have the hair I do at the age of 55, and hopefully, one day, I will have a head of hair like Justin or Scott!
Take care,
David

Cheers,
John.B
Hi John,
It is a pleasure to hear from you, and thank you, as always, for your kind words. I know that since I have found the hyperboard, and with the suport of my fellow members, that my hair is in better condition than it was when I joined, and I hope that I can achieve my goals.
Cheers,
David
Hello David!
You've really made some great progress over the past couple years, and you hair's quality seems markedly improved. It's now a lovely, flowing, silvery mane that you should be proud of. You look to others for inspiration, but don't forget that you, too, have become one.
Mouse
Hi Mouse,
What a pleasure to hear from you, and you always have the kindest words. I am delighted that I can be an inspiration to my fellow members as so many of them have definitely been for me.
I really look forward to your next update of your beautiful thick and wavy hair.
Take care,
David
It's awesome to see that not all middle aged guys are bald, and you're an outstanding example of it,as your hair is not only full and well taken care of,but shiny, straight, smooth and awesome.Congratulations on such a great achievement,David, and may your hair grow ever longer, until you're satisfied with your length.Would you mind if I asked you what your hair looked like in 2005-2006 when it was not straightened?Cya round,David, and stick to your superb mane!=)
Hi Rafael,
Thank you for your very kind words about my latest update, and I feel fortunate to have the hair that I have at the age of 55. Although not as thick as Justin's, Scott's, or Karsten's, it is not too bad for my age.
My hair is straighter in these photos than normal, since the photos were taken on a dry day, right after washing, and at those times, my hair is at its straightest. Normally, my hair is quite wavy, and it certainly changes with the humidity, almost getting curly on drizzly and windy days. The photo on the bottom was taken in Oct. 2006, about a month after I put away the straightening irons for the last time. I know that my hair would be longer if I had never touched the irons, but the damage is slowly growing out as the damaged strands replaced by healthy ones.
Thank you again,
David
The only thing I didn't get is how come it is bad that the damaged strands are being replaced by health ones?I mean, they're health, right?XDThis might be a dumb question though,so I'm sorry If I was mistaken or anything, lol.Your hair is looking perfect though, and sometimes I wish my hair wasn't so thick,as it is terribly hard to manage at times -.-.
Truly impressive David! It's to see you looking well. Your ponytail looks so sleek.
Hi Jason,
Thank you for your kind words, and I am certainly glad to see you! It is ggod to know that my hair is still growing. I hope everything is going well with your special someone as well!
I will be taking another trip to see Tammy in December, shortly after her surgery early that month. I plan to spend Christmas with her, while she is at home recovering.
Take care,
David
Good evening David! That was a great update. Your hair is looking mighty fine these days...and you have shown much progress since your first update 2 years ago...even with the 8 or so months of no progress. Perhaps you are showing all this growth because your heart is beating faster? :-)))
Hope all is well in your world!
Cheers,
Max
Hi Max,
Thank you for your kind words, and my hair still seems to be growing, at about 4, possibly 5 inches per year, and I am sure glad that I stopped using the irons just over two years ago. Hopefully, my goal of waist length or longer hair is still achievable.
I admit to being quite a happy guy these days, and am planning another visit with Tammy in December, and will be spending Christmas with her too!
Take care,
David
It's definately grown a lot sinc eyou first came here. ^_^ Looks really nice.
Hi Glasseyes,
Thank you for your kind words about my update, and it is graet to know that it is still growing!
Take care, and keep it growing,
David
You have very nice hair DavidN, especially considering your age. I hope i still have as much hair when i get to your age, although genetics is against me there.
Hi Syclonus,
Thank you for your kind words, and I feel fortunate to have the hair I have at the age of 55. There are several guys of my age on the hyperboard who have thicker hair than myself, though.
Hopefully, you will also be blessed with a good roll of the genetic dice, and never get discouraged that you will not have a thick head of hair that you grow older. My Dad did not have the greatest hair in the world, but my Grandfather had a full head of hair when he passed away at 85. My brothers also have/had full heads of hair.
Thank you again,
David
Lookin' good, David. Our hair looks very similar, I think.
Take care and keep it growin'!
Brett
Growing My Hair Out...Again! Progress Pics
Hi Brett,
Thank you for your kind words, and it is true that our hair types are quite similar, although mine probably grows a bit more slowly than yours. Hopefully, both of us can accomplish our goals of waist length hair!
Keep it growing,
David
Congratulations, Dave! That's not a small update - that's a lot of progress. In addition to having great hair, you look as happy as ever.
Ed
Hi Ed,
Thank you for your encouraging words, and you know that you have always been an inspiration to me, as well as so many other members of the hyperboard.
Yes, I admit to being quite happy these days, and I am sure that you know why!
Take care,
David
Greetings David,
You have a nice healthy beautiful mane of hair there, at a very respectable length too (not everyone can grow hair that long) and I think your doing very well for a guy of your age to still retain a full head of luxuriant hair. Thanks for helping inspire us longhair wannabees.
Cheers,
Duncan
Hi Duncan,
Thank you for your kind words about my update, and I feel fortunate to have the hair I have at the age of 55, even if it is not as thick as it was when I was in my 40's. Hopefully, I can grow it to longer lengths, and I look to guys of my age (or even older) like Ken, Scott and Justin as a source of inspiration!
Thank you again,
David
Hi David. I have seen your pictures, and your hair is coming along nicely. It grew significantly in the last two years. By the way, I am still waiting for the day that I can put all my hair in a ponytail.
Regardless
Hi Regardless,
Thank you for your kind words, and I hope that I can achieve a few more inches of growth!
Your hair is doing very well indeed, and your thickness is something to be proud of!
Keep it growing,
David
Hi David
Its always great to see fresh updates from you as it has been awhile. To date your hair has been doing very well as you have achieved quite a nice length.I'm sure with patience you will be able to make waist length even though it may take awhile if you think your hair growth has slowed a bit.I kind of think I hit a wall sort of as as my hair seems stuck at waist right now and it doesn't seem to be getting longer.Hopefully I'm wrong as maybe I'm looking at it too much!LOL.Anyway thanks for the update and as usual I'll pic one that I like from the bunch.
Oh BTW I was wondering if you are planning another trip to see Tammy.I trust the two of you have been chatting quite a bit:)I'm so happy for you that this has worked so well.Take care my friend and have a great week!
Mark
Hi Mark,
It is always a pleasure to hear from you, and thank you for your kind and inspiraing words. Hopefully, I can achieve a few more inches of growth. My hair is also a bit straighter than usual in these photos, and is normally somewhat wavier.
In fact, I will be visiting Tammy again in December, but there are a few worrying things, since she will be faced with surgery early that month. I won't get into specifics here, but it IS scary, although the success rate is quite high. Feel free to write me if you would like a few more details of my plans in December, and be sure to keep her in your thoughts. Both of us will be glad when the surgery is out of the way.
Thank you, my friend!
David
Your hair has reached a good length, David. It looks like it reaches your lower back now. I am glad that MLHH has been so helpful to you in reaching your long hair goals. Keep it long.
Scott
Hi Scott,
Thank you for your kind and inspiring words, and I hope that with time, I can achieve my dream of waist length hair. Although I can never hope to achieve hair as long as yours or Justin's, there is no harm in trying!
Thank you again,
David
Hey David
Your long hair looks better than ever and the colour is simply fantastic! I would certainly say that your long hair makes you look most dignified and could hardly imagine you without it.
So happy you gave us all such a treat in this update..........and what a source of inspiration you are to all of us.
Take care my friend-
Justin~
Hi Justin,
It is always a pleasure to hear from you, and you know that your hair has always been an inspiration to me. I am glad that it is still growing, and that the condition has improved since I joined the hyperboard.
Thank you, for being such a wonderful friend!
Take care,
David
Hello David !
It grows ! Congratulation for the progress made during all this time, and thanks for sharing :)
Vivien
Hi Vivien,
Thank you for all iof your kind words about my latest update, and hopefully, I can achieve at least a few more inches!
Take care,
David
Congratulations David, your hair looks in great condition! It's so thick and full I'm sure you can acheive the longer length that you dream of.
Bruce
Hi Bruce,
Thank you for your kind words, and it is good to know that it is still growing, even if it is a bit on the slow side. hopefully, I can achieve waist length hair sometime in the next couple of years if it keeps growing.
I look forward to your next update, and you must be nearing the 3 year mark by now!
Keep it growing,
David
Looking good there, Pops!
And thanks for all your support and all you have done here. It's nice to know that common courtesy and respect for others is still alive and well.
Keep up the good work!
Hi George!
Hi there, Junior, by 4 months! It is great to see you, and thank you for your kind words. I totally agree with you about good manners being such a treasured part of our society. I will be looking forward to your upcoming update, 3 years of growing and counting!
Take care,
David
I'm approaching the two-year mark and I think mine looks almost exactly like your two-year-ago picture at the bottom of your message, and is at the same length. I hope in two more years it can be like yours is now.
I stopped blow drying and styling my hair to force it to lie straight about three weeks ago. Now I just towel dry and let it lie naturally while air-drying. I have the same curling on the ends as your photo shows. The tops and some of the side lies straight.
Hi Bill,
Thank you for your kind words, and I am sure with a little bit of TLC, you can have the hair that you wish for, so keep it growing!
Thank you again,
David
Hi David,
Considering the few troubles and the slow growth period I think you've done very well and the hair looks great, very shiny and healthy. I see no reason why you couldn't achieve waist length at the very least. Genetics of course will have a say but certainly however long it gets it will look fab.
Well done David.
Take Care
Kevin
Hi Kevin,
It is always a pleasure to hear from you, and thank you for your words of encouragement! I really hope that I can achieve my goals.
In other news, I need to write you (or you could write me if you wish), and update you on Tammy, since she will be facing surgery in December, and you ought to know. I will be spending several weeks with her at that time.
Take care,
David
Hi David,
This is a top update, it shows brilliantly how well your hair has come along since you arrived at the board. Your hair is obviously in far better condition than it used to be in and has grown a massive length, especially considering that you were having next to no growth when you arrived here. I'd say, but maybe this is just the new pictures, that your hair looks a bit thicker than it was before too. What do you think?
Take care friend,
Neil
Hi Neil,
Thank you for your kind words, and it is always a pleasure to hear from you. I think my hair is defintely in better condition than when I joined, and is still growing, and hopefully, I can achieve waist length hair. Although not as thick as Justin's or Karsten's hair, I cannot complain too much for having the hair I have at 55.
I am so glad to hear that your health is so much better for you these days!
Take care,
David
Wonderful update David, the quality and length of your hair has improved so much since you first found MLHH. Congratulations, I only hope I can have such a great mane when I am older (I mean that in a nice way!!).
Cheers Dave
Hi Dave,
Thank you for stopping on by to offer your kind and encouraging words on my update. I really could not have come this far without the support of my fellow hyperboard members, and I also feel fortunate to have the hair I have at 55 years old!
Cheers,
David
David, I'm getting here a little late, but great update. Your hair looks very silky and well taken care. I think you can get more length out of it by maintaining your less harsh routine.
Thanks too for doing such a great job on the team, and keeping us all straight behind the scenes.
I guess you're enjoying retirement; must be nice; I've been in a whirlwind.
See you later, Matt B.
Hi Matt,
What a pleasure to see you, and thank you for your kind words about my update! Hopefully, I can achieve a few more inches, and waist length would be a dream come true, if I can get there.
I am thoroughly enjoying my retirement, and will be visiting Tammy again in December, to be with her for Christmas. I hope things calm down a little bit for you soon.
Take care,
David
How did I miss this beforehand? Very nice progress, David. Hope you're doing well. =)
-James
Hi James,
I am delighted that you "found" my update after all, and thank you for your kind words.
I am doing quite well, although there is a lot on my mind, with Tammy facing surgery in December. I plan to travel down her way during that month, and spend several weeks with her, including Christmas, while she is at home, recovering. Thank you for asking!
I hope everything is going well for you these days.
Take care,
David
Awesome update David! Your length is quite impressive, your past the midback mark! I know you say your hair grows extra slow but it's definatly still growing. Another thing I remember is that you said you were taking Propecia. Obviously it's worked wonders for you because there are NO signs of mpb based on those photos whatsoever! I, myself just switched to half a pill due to side effects, hopefully it will still work. Fantastic update David.
-Phil
Hi Phil,
Thank you for your very kind words about my update, and thankfully, it is still growing, and my best estimate is about 4, possibly 5 inches a year.
I feel quite fortunate to have as much hair as I do at over 55 years old. Although not as thick as Justin's or Scott's hair, at least the MPB is not too bad, with some slight recession at the temples and a bit of thinning in the crown area.
Hopefully, your new dosde of propecia will work for you, although I do not see any signs of MPB in your avatar photo.
Thank you again,
David
