Many men tell people that they have always felt like a long hair and don't feel right with short hair.
Could this might be explained by reincarnation. It is said that certain desires and skills might carry over from life to life, if this is true it could explain why wanting long hair is so common in men, when society tells them it is wrong. Throughout most all of world history, long hair like we know it, may have not been the norm, but a significant minority of people in all eras leading up to the 1st World War had long hair. Just look at portaits of people who lived in the 19th, 18th and 17th centuries.
This might also explain why long hairs withstand adversity over their sense of style.
This is more of a spiritual question, and not so much of a scientific. I believe in reincarnation, but have no desire to see it proven true by science, as I do not think things like this can be physically measured.
In my past life I think I was a frog so that rules out longhair.
But as a frog I behaved myself so I got to come back as a human
with longhair. I wonder what I'll be in my next life.....maybe a
monkey, but that would be bad since I suffer from vertigo.

"...In my past life I think I was a frog..."
That's a much more flattering likeness I'm sure. HA
Hey Kenneth, interesting question however I just attribute long-hair oriented men to the diversity of the human condition, the same could be said for sexual orientation in the respect that gay folk have had to endure adversity and discrimination. I don't personally believe it to be spiritual...just human.
Thanks for bringing up the issue. Hope you and your super looking long hair are doing well.
Cheers,
Max
WOW! Great question no matter what side of the fence of spiritualism youre on. Hmmmm Well like you I notice that a lot in the Centuries you mentioned, men did have longhair. Short hair seems to be a phenomenon with a rather short history in the big scheme of things. I don't know whether I believe in reincarnation or not, at times I have certainly wondered, but I know I feel much more comfortable in my self with longhair, probably more confident too. Its because of who I am I guess and if youre comfortable in your self; it shows to others as well. So getting back to your question, I can't remember my past life if there was one but if there was I am sure I was a longhair and hope to be in my next life too where ever it is. Nice Question Kenneth! I like how your mind works! Take care
Cool theory, which me made to think about it.
In the past, I mean long ago everyone had long hair so that would mean everyone was a longhair in their past lives.
This makes a lot of sense!
Humans were more natural in past lives. We didn't have to rely on artificial foods filled with chemical preservatives and additives to live, and our way of living was much cleaner to the environment before the Industrial Revolution! People didn't use shampoo or conditioner, and farmed/hunted for survival. Survival of the fittest was greatly in practice here. So short hair on people with these lives would have stuck out like crazy!
I personally believe modern short hair on males was heavily encouraged with the Futurist philosophy in about 1909 or 1910. Anyone who's interested to research the Futurist art manifesto would notice that the movement's co-founders greatly encouraged "the new modern life, where technology proves the intelligence of man, and should be supported and allowed to improve. people have to completely eradicate norms of the past and start living in the present, with automobiles, factories and hectic modern cities". Something got me thinking that scissors may have been greatly worshipped by these people, lol, just because they're man-made.
Leading to hair clipper technology. what do you know? World War 1 onwards, and everyone has short hair now! Interesting..
If you go back far enough, everybody was a longhair. I don't think cave men had barbers.
Not sure about all this, but some authors have explored in fiction the concept of passing down cellular memory through matrilineal mitochondrial DNA, and sometimes scientific fiction becomes scientific fact later down the way. Essentially, the premise is that memory is passed down instinctuallty, the body remembers. Who knows? Deja vu, reincarnation, why not? There is more mystery than we can hope to comprehend. Instead of solving it all, the more we find out, the more we find out we don't know jack.
Hi Kenneth,
Thanks for bringing up this topic. I personally am convinced of people's consciousness surviving death as I have experienced the paranormal (which simply means super-normal) via visiting haunted places, so don't have a problem with the concept of reincarnation.
Prior to my last haircut I have never had hair longer then collar length though I have had vivid dreams on a number of occasions in the past when my hair was short where I had long hair and remember how it felt having long hair in the dreams - now as my hair passes the collar length stage it feels more familiar with the dreams I had previously. Oddly enough in one dream I was a women with long hair in 19th century dress and remembered feeling what it was like in a female body. (not that I would like to be a women) Anyway just a dream but a very interesting and enlightening one!
Could be just an ancestoral memory - after all most women have had longhair and they are the ones that go through the tough stages of pregnancy and childbirth often with longhair.
With long hair I feel more complete - with short hair feel "naked".
Best,
Duncan
