In the almost three years that I have been growing out my hair, I have always been one to shed quite a bit. I wash my hair daily, and usually find a glob of hair caught on the drain after a shower, and clean out my two brushes at least once a week.
Several ladies on the Long Hair Community site reported almost eliminating shedding by using Apple Cider Vinegar as a final rinse. So I recently gave it a try.
Now there is almost no hair whatsoever at the bottom after my shower, and my brushes are almost clean also. I would say my shedding rate has been reduced by 80% to 90%!
I wash with shampoo as usual, use a good bit of conditioner, rinse it out, and then do a final rinse with ACV. I pour about 4 ounces(about 120ml) of ACV in a half gallon container (about 2L) and fill with lukewarm water, mix, and pour over my hair as a final rinse after the conditioner is rinsed out. I no longer use a leave in conditioner as I did before. Do not rinse again after the ACV; just leave it in the hair.
My shed rate has been reduced greatly, and my hair has noticeably fewer tangles. And there is no discernible odor afterwards from the ACV.
I know there has been several threads fairly recently about shedding; I highly recommend giving this a try.
Big George
Hi George,
This is quite interesting. I am quite a "shedder" myself, so I may try this at some point. I wonder what it is that makes the difference? Thanks for posting this.
Take care
