I washed my hair today, let it mostly air dry then braided it for a few hours. This is what it looked like after taking out the braids. Most of the ends are pretty flat - usually they curl in all directions. A few strands on the right are still doing that. Kind of takes away from the nice shape that would otherwise be evident but... yeah.
A while ago Justin was mentioning how if left untouched, hair will naturally form a nice shape without any "even ups" needed. I have indeed had a trim but... I thought I would include this picture anyway. I had short hair with bangs at about eye level in December 2006.
Cheers,
Peter
Hi Peter,
What an excellent update, and you have achieved wonderful length for less than 2 years from a short cut. Your hair is in great condition with lots of shine, and awesome natural waves.
Cheers, and keep it growing!
David
Thank you David! I hope things are going well with you and Tammy.
Peter
Great V shape there and looks in wonderful condition and do keep it growing.
Cheers,

Thank you John!

Hey Peter
Your long hair is looking out of this world terrific!!!!!! The shape is beautiful! Thanks for sharing your great success with all of us.
Your trim was most likely done VERY early on, or if when done "hardly much hair" was trimmed-off. Some people talk about a trim, which at times really equals several inches removed. This is bad news and unnecessary......."unless," damage was done before the right kind of care was known of. This is mainly something done by a newer guy who just simply did not know. Or, it is done by a guy in process of growing his hair out and during the Awkward Stage wants all to look "picture perfect" so he runs to a Salon for a "quick fix" (which in itself can end-up a butcher job) only to wait months for the hair to grow back to where it was and then he runs again for the next "quick fix." He has much running to do, for this is only stalling the growth of his hair, and so many times he ends by giving-up. I have seen this act played-out so many times on this board for at least 5 years I probably couldn't even count that high! LOL
And now to just one little point that I hope will make all clear. When growing out the hair, every now and then a "dusting" very well may be necessary, or in the case of Split Ends a target and destroy tactic put into place. These are done to make sure the ends of the hairs are not going to aggravate and harm
perfectly good hairs which one will know as soon as they start to encounter tangles and knots so bad you wouldn't believe. Just the most minute "dusting" can and will save a whole lot of grief, and yet it WILL NOT show-up as what many consider they need as a "trim" of the type spoken of above. Just don't go out of your way to get something done which didn't need to be done in the first place. Some get Split Ends. Others never seem to.
Just off the top of my head, I will name several MLLH members who have NOT gone "trim happy." Their hair is proof positive as to what can happen AND DOES when you leave well enough alone. Trolleypup, EdG, Absalom, Kevin Carr (our President), JohnB, Hegg, Hair Religion, Bill, Hairball, Brandon, Regardless. (There are more of course but just to make a point.) With manes such as these guys have acquired, it is extremely hard to argue the great benifits of "oh, I MUST get a trim" because of blah, blah, blah, blah............and more blah.
Again Peter, your long hair is looking fabulous!
All the best-
Justin~
Hi Justin,
Thanks for the long reply! I agree, if hair is properly taken care of then an occasional dusting is all that is needed for split ends, no large trims. Unfortunately in the awkward phase, I hadn't yet found this wonderful community and treated my hair quite roughly. The ends were extremely rough while the rest of the length was in good condition, so a few months ago I trimmed off about 1-2 inches. In retrospect, this was avoidable if I had only known how to care for long hair but I had no clue...
In fact, now that I've started to treat my hair better, I have noticed that it actually grows faster. Not on a microscopic level either... a difference that is noticeable just by looking at pictures that show the growth over time.
Thanks again Justin,
Peter
And speaking of terrific-looking hair...
Justin, you probably didn't see my compliment below (which is WAAAY down the page by now....); but, in any case, I'll say it again: your mane is looking hands-down SPECTACULAR!!
Also, re. your music that's on YouTube, unfortunately my browser won't let me check out ANYTHING on YouTube anymore, --- my computer is apparently "too old", I guess. Considering I got my Mac in '03, I can't understand why this is considered, "too old!" It really pisses me off. If you have another link for me to be able to hear your music, please feel free to e-mail me that privately, and I'll give it a try.
In the meantime, hope all is well with you!
Take Care,
Ken
Another great example of what hair can do on it's own.
Looking very good!
Thanks Vincent! Your hair is looking great too.
Peter
