Made a stupid decision( which I don't want to go into) and cut it. When people compliment me on my short hair cut. I say glad you like it because I don't and don't get used to it because it will be back. I figure it is about time I post a pic.
Good luck growing it back. At least you'll know how to care for you hair throughout all its stages.
To bad you cut it, but at least it will grow back and now you know for sure you like longhair better then short and will never make the same mistake again.
Good luck growing it out again.
Hi Tom,
I've read your posts for a long time, as I think you've been around here for at least a few years; but, I believe this is the 1st time I've seen a pic of you!!
I totally understand what you're talking about, as I cut my waist-length hair short in Y2K, --- deeply, DEEPLY regretting the decision... The good news is: your hair is growing back, even as I type this reply!
As far as your reaction to people's compliments about them liking your new haircut goes, I said EXACTLY the same kind of responses after my hair was cut short, --- in fact, I got kind of "testy" about it a few times, even barking at a few people that were gushing too much over liking it short (lol)....
What I used to take for granted prior to that Y2K haircut, I now remind myself everyday of how and why it means something to me to have it back long again. You will have your long hair back again, too, --- and the 2nd time around, because you're likely to make it a commitment for life to keep your hair long, you'll probably never see it short again (so, "enjoy" it short while you can - lol)!!
In ther meantime, though... it is completely normal to miss it, and even grieve over the loss. I'll admit that I did, back in Y2K; but, I think that statement will only sound strange to die-hard shorthairs. To us hardcore longhairs, having our manes cut is indeed a serious loss that's hard to get over (and which takes much time to heal from and feel whole again).
Be kind to yourself, though, and forgive yourself for what happened. We all learn from our mistakes. I certainly did in Y2K, and have refused to make "impulsive' decisions like that ever since, --- even re. non-hair issues.
My best to you in your re-growth, --- and may your mane the 2nd time around get longer & fuller than ever!

Dude, it happens to the best of us. Hang in there and grow it out again, and while you have the perspective of a short-haired let me know how different you are treated and just the difference in general, of how society treats you. Give em hell.
