Hey guys hope you all had a great weekend as well as a fun Halloween scare!LOL.The weather on the east coast of the US was fantastic for a change making for a better than expected couple days off from the old grind.I decided to mess around with the camera and took this one pic that I thought came out rather well showing my hair as it stands currently.I always wished it could be thicker than it is but I'm pleased with the length just the same.I suppose we always are our own worst critics.Anyway here it is and as always comments are welcome but please be gentle:)

Hi Mark,
Your hair is looking very healthy - I perceive that 4-5 inches of hair growing from the top of your head appear to be darker then the the rest further down. (maybe a trick of the light?)
The hair in the centre of your back appears a bit "ghostly" in the last 8 inches at the extreme ends or so but still looks OK.
Are you wearing very tight jeans or longjohns underpants?

Hi Duncan and thanks so much for your comments.The problem I was having taking this picture was with the flash as it basically X- rayed my hair near the ends giving it that "ghostly" appearance.I then tried disabling the flash on the camera and turning on several lights around the room.It did help but still kind of got the same affect.It would have looked much better if taken outdoors in the natural sunlight.As for what I was wearing they are stretch jeans imported from Germany.Not for everyone but I liked them:)

I was actually looking at the jeans too. I've been wanting to get a pair of really tight jeans, for a really 80s style look, like Dee Snider in the video for "You Can't Stop Rock 'n' Roll". Hair is looking great though, despite it not being as thick as you'd like.

Thanks for your kind comments.As for the jeans I had to do some research to find them as most normal stores won't carry them.I've done a lot of looking and found some cool web stores that specialize in 80s metal or punk style clothing.If you like drop me a note and I can give you some ideas where to look.The jeans I'm wearing in this photo I found out about when hooking up with friends on myspace.This one woman was selling them online from Germany.Any way I can help out just ask my friend:)

Hi Ken its great to hear from you:)Thanks so much for you kind critique as coming from you its an absolute honor.I had so much trouble with the lighting as some of the pics I discarded made parts of my hair look invisible.This one came out the best so I settled for it.
I heard about the rain you guys are getting on the west coast but after 7 months of nothing I guess who can complain.We've been lucky out here as Sept. and Oct. were like and extension of summer for the most part.Now its getting kind of cold at night and during the days.Oh well winters just around the corner.Time to head for the desert!LOL.Take care my friend.

You appear to have fine hair, Mark. Fine hair strands can be numerous and still not show much volume. The "average" AKA medium hair strand is 80 microns in diameter. Yours may be only 60. If this is the case, your hair volume would be only 56% as much as someone with the same hair count and hairs 80 microns in diameter. On your next west coast visit, I could examine maybe 10 of your shed strands and get an average value for you.
I have numerous hairs as fine as 40 microns. That is extremely fine. I think my average is about 55 to 60 which is very fine. My "big ones" are 70, which is fine. See image. Magnification is about 370x on a 19 inch screen set at 100%.

Man you've got hair down to a science....literally!LOL.I never would have thought about hair diameters to this degree but it does make one think.I find it interesting, this issue that you brought up, as I wouldn't be surprised if my hair was on the low end of the scale as it is on the fine side.Wonder if there is such a thing as hair thickeners.Anyway when I get out west again it would be cool for you to test some of my hair samples and get an exact number.Thanks for the info Scott.Take care my friend.Cheers

Your hair is probably fine, Mark. You don't want to put stuff on your hair to increase the diameter of each strand. It would likely gum up your hair.
Apparently mine is fine but not very fine as I thought. I got out the microscope again and measured the diameter of 5 random shed strands. They vary from 65 to 75 microns in diameter as you can see in the images. I do have a small number of hairs that are extra fine, however. One that I did not photograph was only 40 microns in diameter and transparent.

Your hair looks nice and straight. As long as your are pleased with your length, then you should not have to worry about thickness.
As for Halloween, I was busy doing something else, that I did not bother with Halloween this year. I was busy with C++ programming and weather updates this weekend, but it was a nice weekend. I did go to a Halloween dance on Saturday night, and I danced with a few people there. The weather also had been mild, but rainy in Seattle.

Look at it this way, Mark. Not everyone can get away with pants like that. If I were to wear pants like that in public it could be considered a form of cruel and unusual punishment to anyone within viewing distance, lol.

It is always a pleasure to get an update from you, and your hair looks in excellent condition, and is an inspiration to me , since I would really like to have waist length hair some day. I know my hair is on the fine side as well, and it would be interesting to know the thickness of my hair strands.
It would be a pleasure if we have the chance to meet up in December, during my drive down to meet Tammy in December. Hopefully, we can get together for a meal somewhere, and a chance to gab a little!

Thanks for your comments and opinion as I do value them very much.There really isn't much to gain about complaining of ones own hair so the best thing is to live with what you got.Your hair has made great progress since you first joined the hyperboard many moons ago.I'm sure that if you avoid cutting at some point you should get waist length.Your certainly getting closer everyday:)

Amazing hair you have there! I love the length and look of it. =) And as for the thinness, you're right, we are our own worst critics. There's always something to complain about because we alone know every facet of ourselves, what we deem the good, the bad, and the ugly. Which is funny because other people might look at those same "flaws" and consider them blessings. Because of human nature, the grass is always greener on the other side; a person with thick uncontrollable hair might very well be envious of your fine hair.

And to your magnificent mane, what can I say, superb, condition and length are just great. You know sometimes I would like hair like yours as mine is the opposite, but like you I am happy with my lot, and we both have hair to be proud of.

Oh Mark I love UFO, Strangers in The nIght is a classic - they were so underrated. I only got to see them once on the Mechanix tour and met Pete Way after the gig. I absolutley love Schenker' s guitar playing and he was soooo damn cool with those long blond locks.

Wow! You have very nice, fine hair, and I actually kind of like that ghostly look at the end. Your hair is a bit longer than my eventual goal - i want to have waist length hair someday, if just to say "I have waist length hair!". How long did it take you to grow your hair to this length?
