First of all thanks for all of the previous posts. I will not say that Ive been lurking but Ive read every bit that interested my. It has been indescribably helpful and believe it or not I have been trying to grow my hair out for 4 years but due to school rules I couldnt before now. I mention this because all the while I had to cut my hair I also had to deal with crispy, frizzy hair. Well, now they turned into curls.
My question is this: my hair seems to be getting lighter (turning red) as it grows, will it continue to lighten the older it gets?
My Hair Progress
Awesome hair to be jealous of!
The change of colour is odd if you are not using any chemicals - could just be the light where you have used a flash with your camera?
Thanks for your jealousy (so to speak) haha just joking.
Actually, I had a straightening once back when I cut my hair (on a whim).
But most of it is gone now because I had a trim and it doesnt show as much in the picture. It shows during the day. I was just worried that it might be damage, thats all.
Thanks again
A good many people have hair that fades a little toward the ends for different reasons. Sunlight will lighten your hair, maybe certain shampoos (?). My hair is really dark brown, but some of it is nearly blond near the ends. Some guys get red natural highlights, others blond, etc.
Thats good to hear thats its nothing bad. well let's see what happens as it grows.
thanks
Welcome to the board, great you finally have the change to grow out your hair. It will be an amazing but sometimes anoying journey.
About the color, it can be the light from the flash or just the sun. Hair can also turn lighter over the course of time, this is because of the sun.
Oh my Gosh!
Are you my hair twin or something?! lol, I have the same curls! You stole my hair! :P
I've been growing out my hair for 3 years, and HAD to cut twice (because of work, not school, though!)
What colour is your natural hair?
When I was younger I used to chemically straighten my hair and my hair ends faded to yellow (from light brown) especially when I did the straightening the second time. The straightening chemicals REALLY damage the hair, so the ends would have experienced that twice, and I'm telling you they're not happy! That's why they're lightening into red. The more you straighten them, the lighter they will get, yes. However at one point they will start splitting and breaking like CRAZY and the ends especially will become very dry.
I'm telling you this because on your site (nice pics, by the way) you mentioned you straightened your hair twice. Just giving you advice from experience! After my second straightening on the same hair, (4 months later) the ends of my hair were in really bad condition, and the hair was hardly 5 inches long! (when pulled straight).
I guess at this point you may have to embrace your natural hair, lol. That's what I've been doing and it's starting to naturally straighten, very slowly. Dark brown hair fading into red sounds definite in my opinion, because of the straightening chemicals.
Good luck. I'd like to see further updates!
Thanks!
Shawn
P.S: My hair is red because I coloured it, not because it's ALL faded. lol
I love red hair. Im also Maltese, so yeah. :)
My natural hair colour is almost black (dark brown). The moment I fell in love with my hair type I regretted getting straightening but Ive always taken extreme care of my hair. Up till now it has been 6 months since my first straightening and my hair did not split. It usually doesnt. I never remember I had any split ends.
We shall wait and see (by we, I mean me of course) :]
I might see you around, you never know
TC mate and thanks
Haha, what?
You're maltese?
Uwejja! But, you live in Malta too or are you like Maltese-Canadian or Australian or something?
Istra..
I'm from Zebbug ^^

Welcome Esoterik,
Mine does the same, I have some really blond streaks and my hair colour is dark brown. People ask if I have coloured and streaked it, I actually really like it.
Cheers Dave
