Hey Guys and Gals,
Yesterday I took a trip out to Wilkes-Barre,PA to see Trans Siberian Orchestra live in concert.I have to say this show was phenominal!!Not only was the music great but the light show and pyrotechnics were outstanding. For those that never heard of them every year starting around now they do a rock based Christmas show and tour most of the US and some dates in Canada. It certainly was worth the money to see this and to top it off there was some cool hair in the band as well.At one point during the show they had female dancers doing this move where they turned their heads from shoulder to shoulder creating a neat effect with their hair which was shoulder blade length. Its hard to describe beyond that but you just had to see it.I can't figure out how their hair never got messed up doing that:)It looked perfectly straight all the time with not a hair out of place.Anyway enough blabbing here are some pics from the show..........ENJOY:)

I always think it looks so cool to see long hair pics that were snapped right at the moment when the hair is high up in the air!! When I was a teen, I remember seeing a pic in the newspaper of some college soccer player with very thick, full, shoulder-length hair that had all flung up skyward after he hit the ball with his head... I saved that pic for years, because it epitomized the kind of hair I hoped to have some day!
I don't know metal bands very well; but, I remember watching Black Oak Arkansas perform on TV years ago, head-banging their waist-length + manes all around in the air, --- so COOL!!!
Great pics, there, Mark, --- if only I could stand listening to that style of music, I'd go out tonight and head bang with 'em (lol)!!

Ken,
I don't think you really need to worry about being able to stand metal! TSO is more of a holiday-themed hard rock group, mixed with (neo?)classical. The vocals are never growling or screaming either. Not to mention they put on killer light shows! go ahead and bang with them, im pretty sure you'll have a good time lol.
Hey Ken,
Thanks for your comments on the pics I posted as I did like that "hair in motion" shot myself:)There is something to be said about capturing flying longhair on camera like this one did.I was lucky the camera snapped the shot at just the right moment.
Also this band is NOT metal so I think you would enjoy them very much.If you have Sunday Nov.16th free and have some cash to spare then I'd head south to the HP Pavillion aka Shark Tank in San Jose and take in this show as this would be the closest date near to you.Believe me Ken you would enjoy this show as it is worth the money. The pictures just don't do it justice.Anyway glad to hear from you and hope all has been well otherwise my friend.

I've gotta see if they'll be coming to Edmonton. Is there any certain genre of rock they play, or is it diverse?
Just curious, and intrigued,
-Christian Epp
I just checked the web site for TSO and even though they are visiting many cities in Canada I didn't see Edmonton listed.Perhaps one of the other cities is not too far from you.I'm attaching a link with the tour dates.
The show is basically a rock based Christmas show but they do a second set of non Christmas songs that are very cool.Highly recommend going if you can my friend:)Cheers

Wow mark, you visit so much nice shows.
Hope you had a great evening and thanks for sharing it with us.
They have some nice hair over there, I like the headbanging picture.
Hi Vincent
The show was very cool and a must see if you want to be entertained throughout the whole concert.A lot going on to keep you interested and great musicianship.Glad you enjoyed the pics my friend:)Cheers
Mark
Hey Markie-babes, cool pics. I have heard some of their material and enjoyed it a lot, it is particularly good around Christmas as you say. I can't remember them ever touring over here, maybe they have...anyway thanks for posting up the pics, I always enjoy concert images.
Cheers mate, Dave
Hey Davieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee,
I'm glad that you were able to hear what TSO has to offer as they are a quite a talented band. Its too bad they don't tour by you as they have quite an extensive tour going on right now in the US and Canada.Who knows maybe someday they will expand their horizons and go to Europe. In the meantime if you have any CDs its the next best thing to have for the holidays:)Believe me I'd have loved it if you could have been there with me on Wednesday.Oh BTW next week I'm going to see YES in the city:)Cheers my friend!
Mark
wow, Yes, you lucky man. I saw them back in the eighties. Are they touring with a different singer? I too would have loved to have gone along to the show, too bad we don't live closer!
I have some good bands coming up in november - Motorhead, Saxon and Opeth, so there is plenty of rock to be had over here through the winter months.
Cheers buddy, Dave
Not sure about the singer as I just grabbed a ticket when they went on sale and landed a close up floor seat.I haven't seen YES for many years myself so I'm looking forward to seeing them next weekend.I'm sure the show will be great so no worries there.Sounds like you have quite a concert list coming up too Dave:)I've seen Motorhead and Saxon but never Opeth. It would be cool if someday we could hook up for a show.Hey you never know!!
Cheers my friend:)
Mark
.Hey you never know!!
You certainly never know, if I visit your area or you visit the UK (anywhere really as its sooo small :-)), we will sort a gig or two no question.
Cheers Mark, have a great week mate!!
Hear that sound? that's my jaw hitting the floor. I've wanted to see TSO for years now, and they usually do a south Florida show, but i've never gotten to go. :( i've heard the light shows at their concerts are the greatest thing since sliced bread, and their music def makes some great listening around wintertime. Lucky you!
Would the guy on the right in your photo be Alex Skolnick of Testament by any chance? i heard he plays in TSO now.
You know its been probably more than five years since I last saw TSO ever since they stopped playing small theaters and went to regular arenas. After seeing them on Wednesday I was blown away by their spectacular light and pyrotechnics show as well as their music. Before the other night I last saw them at the Beacon Theatre in NYC and even then it was a awesome show only the light show was less showy. If you can make it I'd definately go this year.Check the link I posted in one of my responses with the tour dates.
Mark
Mark,
I sincerely apologize for being so late on my posts lately. That must have been an awesome concert, I went to see them last year and it was KILLER!!! For some reason I thought I heard they're playing around here soon again. Anyway the photos are fantastic and Your previous update with the "80's" metal pants was awesome as well. Your hair looked great as always and thanks for sharing what was most definately an awesome show.
-Phil
Hi Phil and thanks for replying to my thread even though its a bit old right now:)I was surprised to see a response at this late date.
As for the show it certainly was rockin' as the last time I saw TSO was when they used to play at the Beacon Theatre in NYC.Their light show has certainly been upgraded since then and as usual the musicianship was awesome.Actually they are playing at the IZOD center next month and I'm going to go again.I'll be attending the early show at 3pm instead of the later show.Hey if you decide to go let me know as we could maybe meet up finally:)Take care my friend.
