hi, boys!! i've missed you! it's been ages since i've come around, but it's nice to see a lot of the same faces. looks like everyone is doing well (and i hope that really is the case).
i have a funny story to share with you. this is what made me realize i hadn't been around in forever and how much i've missed you all.
so on saturday, my beau ran a 5k race. he has mid-back length hair. when he runs, he ties it in a low pony. as he was approaching the finish line this is what the crowd heard:
announcer - "and here comes out first female finisher"
me - 'it's a boy!!"
announcer - "oh, er - or here comes our fourth place finisher"
me - "that's right. HIS name is JOE!"
joe (to the announcer as he ran past) - "i heard that!"
announcer - "sorry! the long hair threw me."
it was pretty funny. and then, as if that wasn't enough, they screwed up with the registrations, so the results were posted as him being a female named valorie biggs. it took a while to get that straightened out. since it took a little too much time, during the award ceremony they at first announced the first female placer as joe micheli. joe stood up and yelled, "i swear i'm not a girl!" the crowd got a kick out of it.
so, yeah. that made me think of all you guys here, and how one of the biggest milestones is being mistaken for a girl. so i figured i'd stop by and share my laugh with you. i need to try and stop by more often.
this is his newest medal in his collection (he was first in his age group). i don't think he looks very girly.
and if anyone noticed that he was wearing boxers, it's because the race was the 'undy 5000.' most of the participants were wearing underwear of some sort or another. :)
That's pretty funny :D Congrats to him on winning.
During a marathon I was running, a bunch of people were saying "Wow that girl is fast" I turned around and they were all shocked to realize I was a guy with long hair. I had facial hair at the time so it was pretty obvious. I also find it hard to mistake my body type as a female's, but I guess some people just think only girls can have long hair. Haha.
Hi nic!
You know lately I began thinking about board members who have been MIA and you were one on that list.I know people get busy and the internet takes a backseat but its cool that you remembered us longhairs. We just don't get any respect!LOL.
Also that was a funny story about your boyfriend at the race.Well judging by the picture of him I guess at a quick glance I can understand the mistake but you did try and correct the announcer.Well something to laugh about after a long day I suppose.Hey I like that UnderArmour shirt he was wearing.I like wearing those at the gym as they fit and look great.Anyway thanks for checking in and remember don't be a stranger.Cheers
Mark
I always worry about people who judge sex by hair [length] and not body. Did the judge think he was a flat chested, broad shouldered, thin hipped girl who needed a shave? People who are insistent after a point, I would ask [never had to yet] that they be sure to double check their spouse/significant other when they got home. If they don't have one, then nod and said, " well that explains it then". Really, I'm a nice quiet guy, til you get my hackles up.
A 'girl' with long hair and sideburns and no boobies. Good grief, that announcer didn't take a very good look, did he? Good that your BF was so good-natured with a sense of humour. Congrats on his 4th place win.
Hi Nic, great to hear from you again, lots of folks fall by the wayside and then there are the ones that just take a break for whatever reason.
Congratulations to Joe on his placing, he must be a fit guy, I cycle a lot (150-200 miles a week), and I believe that fitness is a wonderful thing and it keeps you young, and who knows a healthy body may improve hair quality and growth. Certainly to be able to the type of thing that Joe is doing one has to have a good healthy and balanced diet which of course is a good thing anyway.
See you around
~ Dave
Cool story, nice you were next to the one who was behind the mic so you could correct him.
Good archievement getting the 4th place!
Hope you drop by more often.
What a great story Nic! Congratulation to Joe! #4 out of any number of runners is pretty damn good.
We've missed your cheery outlook on things, come visit more often.
