Penn Jillette of Penn & Teller guested on Num3ers on CBS last Friday, as himself, with long hair sleeked back in a slender ponytail. Rehabx Party at the Hard Rock Cafe on TRU TV has a young security guard with long hair working at the Hard Rock. I couldn't take my eyes off of him; really thick, gorgeous, long ponytail, his hair loose must reach almost waist-length. And actor Jason Alexander with long silver-grey wavy locks and distinuguished-looking beard, will be guesting as the unsub on CBS Criminal Minds Wednesday. It's great seeing mature, and even greying long-haired men, as well as the young guys, with heads of;
*"Long beautiful hair
Shining, gleaming,
Streaming, flaxen, waxen,
down to there hair
Shoulder length or longer"
on primetime TV.
*Lyrics flagrantly stolen from title song of famous 1960's musical.
I've been seeing the previews for Criminal Minds, and I've got to say it's amazing what a difference the hair makes in Mr. Alexander's appearance. It took me a couple of times of seeing the previews before I made the connection of who he was, but then I was never much of a Seinfeld fan, lol.
First of all, I loved that musical. I saw it last summer, when a friend recommended it to me.
secondly, i used to do that since i was little; noticing long hair on men on tv, so i guess its fun hearing about people doing the same thing.
I notice certain things in commercials, but they're not things I like noticing.
Try this: Think of the kind of situation common in commercials, where The Cool Guy Who Uses The Advertised Product gets the better of The Schmuck Who Uses Brand X, or any commercial where one guy gets the upper hand. Cool, Capable Guy PRACTICALLY ALWAYS has shorter hair than Fall Guy. I've noticed only a handful of exceptions in a lifetime of watching commercials. Has anyone else noticed this?

Probably true. However, the fact is that the target audience will be mostly short haired uncool people who wish they were cool, and they are delivering that fantasy for them.

LOL! Never thought of it that way.
(I remember reading a magazine essay years ago, though--or was it on the Web?--essentially accusing long-haired dudes of thinking they were cooler than everyone else. So you may be right.)

?!!!!
I never expected that.
Maybe it'll cause an epidemic.
I'd better get vaccinated then!
...all we were talking about (from what I saw, anyway) is that it's nice to see more long-haired male characters on TV.
