Just wanted to share with everybody here how much I love this freaking site!!!
I never really gave it a lot of thought before but now I feel an odd sense of resolve.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy being the different one, I chuckle at the fact that most everyone looks as if they came off an assembly line, I like trading jests about hair with my short-haired friends, but now I know that I am not the only one.
There's a good many Longhairs down here in Alabamy, especially close to the river. Self proclaimed River Rats. These guys are 40s to 50s and many have hair to their waist but when you see their kids they nearly always have buzz-cuts. I'm thinking, Uh huh...and why did you grow your hair?.
Yeah, and don't speak of their hair either, cool hair man, or how long you been growing it?, gets weird looks. I think they have a Hair Club and the first rule of Hair Club is don't talk about Hair Club.
But anyway, thanks again for this super site, BTW how many users are here now?
Paul
Hey Paul, Glad to have yo here and I am sure everyone involved thanks you for the kind words too. Hope you and your family is doing good. Take care!
Thanks, the family keeps getting bigger and bigger. I recently got custody of my nephew who was in foster care, he's 13 (Yes, he wants to grow his hair). My daughter 12 (hair near waist, keeps wanting to cut it), 1st son, 9 (shoulder length), 2nd son 4, (never been cut) and one in the oven (no hair yet).
We seriously have to get a bigger house!

Your long red hair looks fantastic. Guys with long red hair are rare. It would be cool if you grew it to your waist. (or longer) I included a link from Victor's long hair site showing a guy with classic length super thick red hair.
Victor deserves the credit for creating this great site. We currently have a crew of 14 people that help maintain MLHH. As far as I know, MLHH is the largest men's longhair discussion board on the web.
We currently have 214 official users with their photos. We have quite a few unofficial users that don't show their images. In the past 2 months about half of those 214 have posted at least once.

How right your are, I hardly ever see a guy with red hair that wears it long.
One of my favorite jibes toward short-haired redheads is, "...if I had red hair I'd probably grow it out." This usually gets a laugh but so far no luck in converting any.
Thanks for the link, that's about what I have in mind except I'd braid it.
I don't think mine will get that long although it has been about 4 inches longer than it is now. I did check out the magnified pics you posted on "Longhair is easy". Mine is definitely breaking, the loose hairs are about 4 to 8 inches and sharp on both ends, no bulbs. Recently I've started using hot oil treatments and being more careful when I brush it. Also, I've had some flakes so I switched to Head and Shoulders, I can't wait to hear opinions on that.
BTW didn't you say your hair is almost to your knees? I have to see a pic of that!

Hi Paul, here is that image of my hair showing the length. This was done about 2 years ago, but my current length is the same.

Hey Paul
Yes, I couldn't agree more with what you wrote as this certainly is a great place for the longhaired guy.Where else could you go and compliment guys on how awesome their manes look or to seek out advice on how to care for your hair.Like you noted you couldn't get away with that with your local River Rats.LOL.
Anyway Paul, glad to have you here as the more of you that participate the stronger the MLHH becomes:)You have fantastic hair my friend so don't you ever cut it!Cheers buddy:)
Mark
Hey Mark,
Thanks.
I think it's high time we spoke up, especially in matters of job and school. When it comes to that, we have to stick together.
In the Hair Nazi post I told everybody about a stupid haircut rule at my sons school which is county wide.
There are a good many people irl that wear their hair short who told me they thinks it's ridiculous!
Paul
This is pretty funny, but true lots of time.
The other day, a guy with whom I work, who has long hair too, saw me and nearly freaked out. I had tied my hair back and it couldn't really been seen from the angle he saw me I guess. He was like, "For a minute I thought you'd cut it all off; don't leave me all alone!" We'd never said anything about hair before, and I doubt we will later on, but that one of the brethren might have defected from "Hair Club" was enough to make him say something!
Glad you like the site, it's an awesome place indeed. All people with the same ideas about longhair on men. Like you say, that can be hard to find irl.
irl? Not familiar with that one.
I'm really surprised at the very different personalities. Seems there are no two longhairs that are alike.
Paul
That is short for In Real Life, I always have to carefull not to use much shorts as not everybody knows them.
Yeah, it dawned on me a few minutes after I posted. Pretty obvious, all I could think was ... duh.
Paul
Hi Paul,
I loved reading your comments here, as you have a really clever way of expressing yourself, --- not to also mention your hilarious comments about your local "Hair Club" guys that refuse to speak about hair (lol)!!
Here's some other comments that you made which I find very insightful...
No truer words could have ever been spoken here, my friend! I kid around with my short-haired friends, too. There's even a guy in my local C&W dance community who says "hello" by sneaking up behind me and giving me a quick yank or 2 on my braid (lol)!! It's all done in the spirit of fun, as he has a really wacky sense of humor, anyway.
You have fantastic looking hair, BTW, --- don't ever cut it, or you'll probably find an angry mob of MLHH members suddenly flying down to Alabama to protest (LOL)!!!!

LOL, if I ever have a brain-fart like that my wife would beat the hell out of me!
Thanks,
Paul
I think they have a Hair Club and the first rule of Hair Club is don't talk about Hair Club.
HAHA. That gave me a really good laugh.
I think that proves to be so true. I'm surprised at times when I (as a longhair) recognize and make a comment to other guys with long hair and their reaction is like you are not supposed to mention that. Oh well, some folks just have issues I guess...
I know how this goes. Although I know a number of long-haired guys around my area, the only discussions of hair I've had with any of them deal with the tribulations of long hair when wearing fencing masks and/or armor.
The only other comments I get from guys is the occasional friendly snide comment from one of my short-haired buddies like you mentioned. The only compliments I get are from women, although there have been a fair number of those, thankfully.
Yeah, a lot of girls do like the hair. (The ones worth talking to anyway.)
What kind of problems might one have with SCA armor?
The biggest is just getting sweaty and frazzled under the helmet, the same as anyone else that wears a helmet, like motorcycle riders. However, with some styles of helmet, there are possibilities of getting longer hair tangled in parts of the helmet, which can be a pain (literally) when removing the helmet.
Yeah, i know what you mean about the hair club, there are quite a few guys in FL with long hair (especially the shoulder length "surfer" look), but none of them ever talk about hair! This site definitely helped me start my journey to being a longhair!
I have a coworker with mid-back long hair and we sit sometimes at the same table in the cafeteria and talk about all sorts of things, but hair was never a subject of discussion.
On the other side other coworkers have told me about the time, years ago, when they had long hair. Maybe I can make some converts...

Hi Paul,
I am glad you like our site!
You have some gorgeous red locks and a fine red beard to go with them.
Looks great!
Welcome to our community,

I feel the same way Paul; I take great pride in being a longhair. I also have experienced what some of the others have stated. In the course of an average day, I may run into a few other longhaired guys. Several times, I have complimented them on their hair and they are usually unresponsive at best, sometimes a scowl. I don't know why there is so little camaraderie among longhairs out in the world; it's a mystery to me. And it makes the world a little lonlier.
I think some of that is simply that (at least in my experience) guys just don't compliment each other that much, whereas women do it all the time. Especially if you're talking about random people, as opposed to friends and acquaintances.
Exactly my point! If we all had flat tops it would be ok to say, "nice haircut". Which would be responded to with, "oh yeah, I go to so and so barbershop." I've actually overheard that conversation several times.
Great to have you here with us merry band of brothers (and a few sisters),
long hair forever!!
