Do people really grow hair faster than normal, or do some exceeed the average ¨ö in per month, and therefore think these products have something to do with it? I had always assumed that, absent strict protocols of peer-reviewed research, external product use does nothing. There is anecdotoal evidence that certain nutrients promote hair growth, but nobody has really done studies, because the nutrients associated are cheap, while the shampoo/conditioner products rake in bucks from the gullible.
All I can say is that I use MSM and Omega 3 fatty acids, and my growth rate was around 10 inches last year, and I still manage the extra ¨÷ inch above average monthly. So, my growth rate already is 45% faster, and more. I don't know if the MSM and Omega 3's have anything to do with it. Maybe my body is catching up from the previous much slower rate and massive shedding due to thyroiditis. I don't really know. I'll stick to my cheap MSM (sulfer) and Omega 3 regimen, rather than pay for a pricey shampoo/conditioner product. At least MSM and Omega 3 have been proven to benefit hair.
For some reason, the hyperboard is not rendering characters properly. The following are corrections of the original which had characters for 1/2 and 1/3.
I am a believer in MSM.
I've been taking it for over two years.
I also take the Maxi-Hair vitamin. Very cheap.
Used to take Horsetail but it's in the Maxi-Hair vitamin.
But I don't think any shampoo will make one's hair grow faster.
Happy Thanksgiving.
If you have a short growing cycle, your hair will grow slower the closer it gets to terminal length. With a 1/2" per month and a 3 year growth cycle your hair will max at 18 inches. Only a very few will be at that maximum length, since hairs grow and shed randomly. Once terminal length is reached, (based on 18 inches) 66.7% will be over 6 inches, 33.3% will be over 12 inches, 10% will be over 16.2 inches, and 5% will be over 17.1 inches.
To get a greater volume of your hair to grow longer, you will need to lengthen that growth cycle. I recently had severe shedding. Shedding is the enemy of fast growth, especially if you are shedding 75% as much hair as you are growing. Reducing shedding to a minimum is a must for fastest growth.
I have been adding about 10 drops of tea tree oil per ounce of shampoo and it has greatly reduced my shedding. I had a lot of flaking which apparantly is caused by a fungus. This fungus causes increased shedding. Tea tree oil is cheap and can be mixed into bargain basement shampoo.
So in my situation the tea tree oil should make my hair grow faster by reducing shedding losses. Only time will tell, and I do keep track of my hair length.
I don't know if this is the cause of slow growth in your case but it was in mine.

I can't imagine how it would make much difference to the actual speed of hair growth. However, by improving general condition, it may reduce breakage, so if you're losing less off the ends, it will seem to grow faster. I certainly noticed a difference in my apparent growth rate when I started plaiting my hair, because it was suffering less daily damage, and the same when I started using jojoba oil.
I believe hair growth is in the genes and try as we may to make it grow faster and thicker it is to no avail.
So I agree no is your answer.
