what do you think about rat tails ?
I don't even know, what this should be !
a 'rat tail' is a narrow section of long hair extending from the back of an otherwise short hairstyle. it was fairly popular during the 80's

kurzes Haar und hinten in der Mitte oder auf der Seite einen schmalen Streifen mit langen Haar (oft auch als Zöpfchen). In den 80 Jahren verbreitet insbesondere bei Burschen.

They're ok for someone who's just starting out. Personally, tho, I'd take the full ponytail over one anyday.
