I've noticed that since I haven't washed my hair in a couple days my hair seems to be a little more dry and has less body.
However, the day I wash my hair it usually has more frizz, more body but also less curl.
Any guys with wavy/curly hair have any tips to make their hair less dry and frizzy?
I use a shampoo and conditioner seperately. Sadly, it's that mane and tail... it's my sister's haha let the Will Ferrell jokes ensue, "you can use my mane and tail but don't even think about touching my brush!" My female cousin uses that one all the time on me. I find it kinda funny though so I guess it's alright that she always quotes that line.
I have the same problem.. sadly i dont know what to do.
I recently got this leave in moisturizer, im gonna see if that helps at all.
Usually I will wash my hair every other day so that the natural oils replenish. Once in the shower I will wash my hair with shampoo, then once ready to condition I leave it in for about 5 minutes. I have used all sorts of shampoos and conditioners including main and tail and found the best to be Panteen Pro-V smooth and sleek to be the most effective. After the shower give your hair a thourough brushing then try not to touch it for a couple hours. This will leave hair feeling great and managable.
Hope this helps.
I have curly hair that gets dry too. It seems that any leave-in conditioning or styling product ends up drying my hair, leaving it with a coated feeling, less curl and more frizz after a day. I use an oily product on partially dried hair to moisturize. I've tried macadamia hair oil, Brylcreem, and Alberto V05. they all work more or less.
My new discovery 'Luster's Pink', a moisturizing cream, sold in the black hair products section. Used lightly, it keeps the hair from drying out and seems to activate the curl as well.
I need to wash my hair almost every day with only conditioner. I pat it dry and comb with a wide tooth come, leaving it to dry in place. When almost dry, I apply the cream, shake my hair loose, finger comb and scrunch to arrange as necessary.
Good luck, my curly friend
My hair's only slightly wavy, but since I started using jojoba oil between washes, its condition has improved. I didn't have much of a problem with frizz, but it was pretty dry at the ends. Now, it's looking pretty sleek all over.
Just rub a couple of drops between your palms then apply it to your hair when it's dry. Don't go overboard or it will look greasy. It's better to use too little as it's easy enough to add more if you need it than to wash it all out and start again.
It should make it more manageable and also stop it drying out so much.
I have very curly hair and here is what works the best for me (I am not 100% satisfied yet and i still experiment with new products).
1) i shampoo only 2-3 times a week but i wash with conditioner everyday.
2) i use coconut oil (sparingly!) every couple of days, partly for moisture and partly as a replacement for gel.
3) Frizz-ease hair serum is good for the really bad hair days.
4) So far the only way i have found to dry while avoiding frizz is to blot with a towel and then drip dry.
5) once a month i use an overnight deep conditioner.
Unfortunatly frizz is the downside of havng curly hair, but on those days when you get it right it is definatly worth the battle!
I hope this helped
all the best

Though my own hair is not curly, what you describe above can happen to me as well. With it colder outside now and the heat on in the house my hair becomes a little more dry itself. Solution? You might want to "try" just a tiny anount of conditioner such as the spray-in type to off-set the dry and help restore more body to your hair. Just a thought Much of having and caring for long hair can take years of experiments until one knows what works best for their own particular type hair. Best of luck to you.
Your own hair bty is looking really great despite all.
I rearely (less than once a week, sometimes two) use shampoo. Really, I use it IF:
Typically, though, I shower every day and I use conditioner each day while finger combing my hair outwards from the crown. Without regular conditioning: Dry, brittle. With: more manageable, softer, hair.
I use Suave. I've tried many types, but this does a swell job and it half the price of many lower-end store brands.
Best of luck!

PS It has been a while since I last had the chance to visit MLHH. I miss this place!
