Hi folks ... This is Akshay from India ... I was a part of this community 2 years back ...back then I grew my hair for 2 years & cut it ...I have been again growing hair for last 1.3 years my hair growth this time was really fast its 3 - 4 inches down my shoulders now & I intend to grow for next atleast 2- 3 years not sure after that ...
My problem is I am 27 I have lost major amount of hair up my forehead till the crown part of my scalp I am covered good towards both the sides ... Its just this strip of about 3 inches up my middle part of the forehead till the crown area....I want a hair weave only for this part matching the existing length & texture from the sides & the back ..I have good hair back the scalp
I am little concerned with this alternation first of all its not natural .. can it match with my existing hair texture from the back & the sides ..
are there any of you with this concern & have got a hair weave done or any similar alterations ..Please let me know.
Cheers

A hair weave, like hair extensions, requires using existing hair to anchor the added hair pieces to. The biggest problem with any method used continuously like this, is that it waekes and damages hair strands and follicles. You can actually develope traction alopecia (hair loss from too much tension/pulling of hair). this has happened to people who braid or weave their hair too tightly, and from constant use of tightly-applied hair weaves and extensions. If you want to have long hair, AND minimize hair loss; you certainly don't want to create a situation that will eventually result in more hair loss, over time. The only treatment for traction alopecia, is to remove the problem, such as the hair weave. And not all the damage is repairable, some of it is permanent.
It would help if you could post a picture of the area you are talking about. I've seen/heard a number of young men mistake a mature male hairline that changes from teens to mid-20's, as hair loss, and it isn't. You don't keep the same hairline you had in your teens and very early 20's. The temples recede back from the crown in a fully mature adult male. Even us females have our hairlines change as mature adults, the change is not as dramatic as it is in men. But the average 25+ yo, will have a vastly different hairline from their teenage years, the change usually begins as one enters their 20's
Finally, if your crown really is losing hair, see a dermatologist. many have had success with Propecia (finasteride). And the sooner you start after the hair loss begins, the more effective it is. It is a DHT inhibitor, DHT is a by-product of androgens that result in male-patter baldness. Some have done well with OTC minoxidil too, though it has to be applied daily to the scalp. Using these are lifelong commitments, but so is a haiweave, for as long as you use it. Hairweaves require frequent visits to have them re-anchored, as they come loose as the hair used to anchhor them grows longer.
You might want to look into extensions rather than a weave. If you get realistic looking ones though, you are going to pay lots for it. With extensions they actually glue strips of hair to your scalp rather than bond hair to your hair, as would be the case with a weave. They look extemely authentic. I've thought about getting some hair added in before too as I have the same issue of "missing hair" up top. Whatever you do, post some pictures so I can see how it turns out.
