i've been growing my hair off and on for 7 years now and im just starting again, at about eyebrow length.in the past years i never had a problem with dry hair but since i moved outside of town where its hard water i find my hair isnt the same.i dont know if it is the water or if its just the fact that now that im in the 20's(23) that my hair doesnt get greasy as fast or something? i actully did the opposite of conditioning more, instead im only using shampoo just because for some reason it looked better without using conditioner(also it weighed it down). and it seems i can go a few days without washing it this way. should i try some deep conditioning, whats your take? oh and should I brush and comb my hair even though its dry? or is it wise to just finger comb for now?
I dont think its because you're in your twenties, im in my latter teens, and I get dry hair here and there, probably because it is Fall/Winter...
I have soft water, but I know you can buy these filters for the sprayer thingie in the shower, which might help with mineral deposits
This is what I do though-
*Been using a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner (like Garnier fructis Moisture Works, what I use)
*Try not to shampoo every day, but every other day (depends on your hair type, I have thickish straight hair, sometimes I have to every day, or every other day, everyones different)
*Use coconut oil (that or you can use a leave in conditioner or other oils, like jojoba)
What I'd do 1st is try a shampoo change and see how that goes
Hope that'll help ya
Peace!

Also, I use a natural bore bristle brush, and they are great too
Water does play a part in the equation. I have a water conditioner and I love it, it's great for my hair and if
I go visit my mother or travel and use hard water I can
tell and immediate difference. I would recommend using
conditioner as it does help most people. Conditioner is like car
wax it coats the hair and makes it shiny which can help defend
against dryness but that alone isn't the answer. Conditioner
isn't everybody's thing and some hate it but try it even though
you may not like the look or it lays flat that's a trade off to
avoid dry hair.

ya i would love to have water softener at my place but my mom won't get it, so i gotta try other ways to get thru this, guess i'll just try other shampoos, or pay for the water softener myself, lol.
