Anyone know any places online that sell cool & unique hair ties designed for men? I only know of tailcuff.com but they don't have that many.
Rob, although I have not used any of her products, I have seen a number of favourable postings on this board concerning a woman trading as Monies Ponies, who hand makes hair ties and sells them on the Internet. I believe she caters for both sexes, and is based in North America [Canada I think].
Here in the U.K, hair ties designed for men are also pretty thin on the ground....I guess the hair accessory makers are only interested in the comparatively much larger and more lucrative female market.
It's only a thought, but have you considered making your own "unique" tie?. Alternatively, you could try looking for something suitable from the myriad of stuff aimed at women.
Dave, ya ought to try some of her items... I think you'd like'em. Yes, she's based out of Nova Scotia.
Same over here in the states. Except for tailcuff.com.

Okay John, if the foreign exchange [given the small amount involved] is not too prohibitive, I may try some. I gather you can get Monies Ponies on Ebay.
Cheers, Dave
Hi Dave!
monie here...I don't sell the little ones on ebay as I do them up indivually as they are ordered. I can custom make you any size you want...my little ones are 4 for 10.00 us. Available in pretty much any color. The picture you see is the smallest I can make them, I also can make them 1 cm wide if you have thicker hair, you may prefer that size. You can get my email from my auctions on ebay and contact me if you want more info. Not sure where you are located....shipping for 4 is 1.50 to the usa and 2.50 europe....Look forward to hearing from you! I would love to have more great customers like John!
Dave,
GO FOR IT, my man! Heck, I'd even try the normal full-size ones that she does list on eBay. They're the most comfortable hair items I've worn, and as long as you stay away from the feminine colors, they look perfectly masculine... :)
-J (who, does also wear a skirt and, for the most part, has had no issues with people accepting my style)
I already have a few normal size scrunchies...And yes, you are right John, they're very comfortable to wear and look fine in darker shades. Collecting them can also be quite "addictive"!.
Of course, over here in the UK, the Kilt has long been a part of Scottish tradition. I have noticed though, over the past few years, that this has now become a more acceptable thing for a guy with no Scot connection to wear south of the border, especially at formal occasions.
From a practicality point of view, I don't think a skirt is much different than a pair of shorts. It's all an attitude thing.
Cheers, Dave
Dave,
Yeah, so I've heard...LOL (I've got about 38 or so - all from Mona :D )
Yep.
And a heckuva lot more comfortable. Also tends to go very well with long hair...

I have a number of hairties made by Kenneth Johnson. He is Creek/Muscogee and now lives in New Mexico. I have included his web page--I don't see any hairties on it, so you would have to email him. I have several made from old coins ($100 range), one that is silver with gold inlay--about $250)(with a matching bracelet), and one that is 22K gold (about $500).
Here is a picture showing my lil scrunchies and how they look in the hair....note that the cross you see can be worn on the top or underneath....I have many prints suitable for men if you are looking to punch up the wardrobe a little and all the plain colors too...whatever size you want is available and you will not find a better quality scrunchy on the market anywhere! I GUARANTEE that!
