....Sir Terry is quitting commentating on Eurovision :-(
Well will miss that old Irish sarcastic sense of humour but then again when it's all tactical voting why bother!

Oh dear they will be replacing him with Graham Norton...oh dear!
Cheers,

Ok, for us ignorant folks on this side of the pond, what's a Eurovision???
Have a read and enjoy :-)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurovision_Song_Contest
It's a song contest open to all in 'Europe'. Its a yearly tradition where Europeans (us over here) sit down and watch mad people speaking & singing in languages we were supposed to learn at school but were too busy sulking (as teenagers do)..
its a yearly tradition (a night) when you realise you're not German / Dutch / Swedish / French / enter country as appropriate..
cos they're all mad and wear really bad outfits and sing really bad songs
and then you realise you're not actually being represented by anything musical by your own country because...
they're mad and wearing really bad outfits and singing a really bad song
and you cringe yet keep watching....
Best Thing :
Terry Wogan - I love his banter, especially now that 'Eastern Europe' is part of it and they block vote so that Russia / Slovenia / Eastern block country of your choice - win.... every year without fail.. because they can
It used to be about music now its about politics - sad really..
I'll miss Terry, I like Graham Norton though so I hope he speaks his mind and makes us laugh - otherwise there's no point watching it really.. apart from the outfits...
and you must've heard of this band.... who won in 1974

and for you boys who like LH (at the time someone asked me why she'd won and I said... a long-haired, eastern block woman in fur & leather... think about it.. but its quite fun..

betcha
ukraine vote for russia
russia vote for belaruss
sweden vote for norway
norway vote for finland
I'll be watching.. its tradition... lol
I may be one of maybe ten Americans who have seen a Eurovision or two and that is a shame. For those who don't travel overseas and experience other cultures Eurovision considered by many a joke that comes around in the spring and so people get together for Eurovision parties to get mildly smashed and laugh hysterically at some of the contestants and of course Terry's comments.
Graham Norton??? Well maybe no one else was willing to do it.
Jeremy Clarkson would have been great but he wouldn't lower himself I'm sure.
I always knew what it was but never saw one until about 4 years ago, What a laugh!
Kevin
I've actually seen Eurovision live once... And I'm not ashamed to admit it!
