Hello Everyone,
Seeing as I have not been at all active on this board in the past month or so, I figured it was time to finally post an update. However, you may be scratching your head at the title of this post... When I deleted my site, the scissors caught up with me and away the locks went. I didn't regret cutting, as I have been so busy with school and work lately that, frankly, I really didn't have the time to constantly be managing my hair.
That being said, I am starting over now. The worst is over in terms of stress and work. I will be applying to graduate schools within the next month or two, and seeing what happens. Specifically, I have my eyes on George Washington University in DC, Tufts University just outside of Boston, and possibly the University of Virginia, or American University.
Also, I am currently awaiting news from the State Department about my results for the Foreign Service Officer Exam, which I took over Halloween weekend. Though I don't put much hope in actually getting into the Foreign Service, as there are so many hoops to jump through before they will accept someone, and even that doesn't guarantee a position.
Anyways, on to the update. I cut everything off about a month ago, and since then, I have retained a fair amount of length. My hair has definitely grown much more than the standard half inch. =)
Everyone says I look so different, which I guess is true. Even so, I'm still my little ol' pragmatic self. =D
Hope you all are having a nice day, and that the weekend shall be filled with fun plans. See you around...
-James
looks great James glad your growing it back :)
Thanks, bud. Take care!
-James
Looks great, James. Your hair grows fast, that's a very good thing :)
Out of curiousity, what is your goal now?
Take it easy,
Hegg
Hey Hegg =)
Thanks a lot. Not sure what my goal is now. I'm just going to let it grow and see what happens. I have no idea where I'll be living or what I'll be doing in a year's time, so I might as well enjoy everything until then. Hope you're doing well. =)
-James
Nice to see your still alive James and although your starting over you have a positive attitude which is good.
I wish you luck on your hunt for grad school as well as jumping through those hoops. To think your boss would be Secy of state Clinton.... (grin)
Kevin
Thanks, Kevin. =)
Interestingly, there is a possible constitutional block on her nomination, due to the fact that she voted for a pay increase for the office of Secretary of State since being re-elected in 2006. I doubt that will have much effect on her nomination, considering those sorts of constitutional items seem to get glossed over anymore... but I digress. ;)
Anyways, thanks again, and take care.
-James
Hi James. I remember you getting a haircut back during the summer. Reading the post stating that you probably got another haircut. I can see why you decided to reset the month counter.
Nevertheless, hope you get accepted at one of the colleges you have been applying for.
I was at that length probably last winter and again early this spring.
Matthew aka Regardless
Hey Matthew. Thank you, and hope all is well with you. =)
-James
Hey James,
Man you never seem to slow down as I knew you were looking to apply to other schools after you posted your DC trip pics but now you even cut your hair!If you had been lurking the past week or so you'd have noticed a run on guys cutting their hair. Some were glad they did it while others immediately regretted it.Sounds like you fall right in the middle there. Its too bad you decided to cut what you already accomplished but hey, your young and that's an advantage as its gives you many opportunities to regrow again.Certainly I like James the longhair but you are a cool guy and I wish you the best in your future endeavors. Stay cool my friend:)
Mark
Hey Mark =)
In order to be successful, one must stay on top of things. However, within some time, I'll be back to long hair hopefully. Don't have a goal as of now, but I'm just going to let it grow and see what happens. Hope you're doing well, and thank you very much. Take care.
-James
You seem to be very busy and enjoying life James, are you going to keep it at that length now? It does look good on you. Thanks for dropping by :-)
~ Dave
Hey Dave =)
Thanks, and I plan to let it keep growing for now. We'll see what happens in the future, as I have no idea what I'll be doing later on. Hope all is well with you. =)
-James
Hi James,
Welcome back to the hyperboard, and I have been more in "lurker mode" myself in the past week, with some things on my mind that require my attention.
It seems as though you have been really busy, and I am so happy that a lot of your stress is behind you. It sounds as though you have a very promising career ahead of you, and I wish you the very best of luck in your future studies.
Hopefully, you will be able to keep growing your hair, and you are off to a great start. You are blessed with a fast growth rate, which is a definite blessing.
Take care,
David
Hey David,
Thank you very much, and I hope all is well with you. See you around the board...
-James
It sounds like you have a heck of a lot going on. I just thought I was busy! I say good luck with it all; I know you will get accepted into a grad program at probably all you places of application; you're a smart guy. It sounds like you have a career mapped out in detail. Lucky you who actually knows what he wants to do!
Your hair looks nice at this length too. There's a quotation in German that I can't remember, since I don't know German, but Hans-Uwe who used to post here used it sometimes. It went something like, "Nothing can hinder/damage/diminish the appearance of a handsome man." I'm sure there's a German verb that captures the sense of what I'm trying to paraphrase better than the English, but the sense of the quote is that you look nice with short or long hair. I wish I could remember that quote, because I really liked it. Oh well.
Good luck and hope all you rplans come to full fruition.

Hey Matt =)
Perhaps the word you are looking for is "beschaedigen"... though I could be wrong. I don't know the idiom, but my guess is that would be correct verb.
At any rate, thank you very much, and I hope all is well with you. The semester is almost over, so be glad! =)
-James
Hey James,
I like your new hair-style very much, --- and you look happy as a clam in chowder, I'd say!!
Nothing wrong at all with what many would call, "medium-length"... I think it looks great on you; and, every once in awhile, I miss my own hair being at more of a middle-length as well...
I don't miss my hair being short, though, --- NOPE, that would be going "too far" (lol)!!
Take Care, --- and good luck in picking out your next college!
- Ken
Thank you very much, Ken. I'm going to let it grow out more, so no worries there. I don't really miss the long hair much, but it looks better with my face, I think. =) At any rate, hope all is well with you. See you around...
-James
Hey, at least it doesn't look like you cut it WAY back. Imagine starting all over with a buzz cut... oy! ;-)
You look fantastic as always, James, no matter what the hair length. Good luck picking a school!
Mouse
Hey, thank you, Mouse! I haven't seen you around the board much lately, though you've probably been in the same situation as me. Anyways, I hope you are doing well. Looking forward to an update from you. =)
-James
Hey, James. I know how it is with college. I'm graduating this month with 2 degrees. I'm also considering graduate school, but I'm taking the spring semester off.
Good look on your foreign service exam. I hope you get accepted by the graduate school of your choice. D.C. is awesome, but the weather is rather fickle.
Your hair looks really good the way it is. Do what you have to do.
TLH
Thanks, TLH. I'm keeping my fingers crossed to see what happens. Good luck with your degree, as well! =)
-James
Too bad you chopped of so much lenght but it's your hair and your choise.
I did lose a lot of length, but it'll grow back in time. Hope you're doing well, Vincent. Keep it growing, buddy. =)
-James
Hey James..
I'm pretty much in the same boat right now.. I failed miserably in September... misery loves company..
Hope you're well..
