Hi all,
I stumbled across naturallycurly.com the other day and lots of people on there seem to be sticking to the CG method which involves giving up shampoo completly ( or those with sulfates in them) and using products free from silicone (ie. any ingredient with the ending cone or cane). I started this method about a week ago and so it is still too early to tell if it works for me. So my question is are there any wavy/curly heads here that have gone CG and if so any info would be appreciated, especially info relating to applicable UK products as i am not too good at reading the labels yet!!.
Cheers

I've found the site too and use some of their advises.
My hair type has some slight wave.
I still use shampoo as my scalp is very oily but only once a week, on other washes I use conditioner only.
One advise my hair loves is not combing it only when I'm in the shower, my hair now forms a sort of loose dreads instead of big poofy hair.
My hair is definatly too curly to comb when dry. I can only get my fingers through it when wet and full of conditioner! Loose dreads sound pretty cool and sort of what i am aiming for ( Long curl tubes if that makes sense!)
Cheers for the reply

This thread has a lot of info. People online call this version CO:

And both these articles outline it:

I have used numerous conditioners, expensive and cheap, but the oens that work best for me are VO5 and Suave.
Thanks for the links they have provided some intresting reading. Have you completly cut out shampoo or do you clarify every few weeks or so? I remember reading on a previous post that you use either jojoba or coconut oil. I like to use coconut oil every few weeks and i was wandering if CO washing manages to remove all of the oil?

I haven't cut shampoo out simply because my hair gets buildup easily, CO or no. I shampoo whenever it feels gritty and stiff, s about every three weeks to a month. Then again, I CO more than once a day sometimes, due to my job.
I use both in a mixture, but lately i've just been using coconut oil. I CO wash, first with a thin conditioner, then with a heavier one, rinse completely, then put some conditioner back into my hair and scrunch. Then I oil it and sometimes use a tiny, TINY bit of gel.
And Co removes oil better for me than shampoo ever could, even olive oil. I oil my hair after every single wash, and no greasies. :)
just don't use too much oil if you'rfe planning on wearing your hair down, thoguh. That can be a problem. CO will still take care of it; I use olive oil as a deep treatment and cake that stuff on, and ti comes out squeky clean. It just won't look nice after a wash. xD
I have been using the coconut oil as an overnight deep conditioner and i do use a lot but i guess it will be trial and error. I have never tried olive oil so that might have to be done soon. Thanks for all the tips

I only use olive as a deep treatment, just so you know. Coconut is light enough for me to use as a leave in if I don't cake too much on. :)
