Hey Guys,
I have been hearing for about a year about "Global Warming." Funny thing, but since announced, everything keeps getting colder, or so it seems in Oregon. Ha Ha Ha.......5 days of this stuff just cannot be handled out here and there is more on its way. (And to think, I moved out of New England 20 years ago to get out of snow!) LOL :-)
Justin~
That's not much snow I expected more!
Hey John
I shoveled the walk in the AM, but right now we have around 10" and it is still snowing hard. Very unusual for the West Coast........and they (whoever "they " are) say it is suppose to do this all next week. Yikes! Better get to my "hideout cave" for shelter up in the Pacific Mt. Range.
Take care-
Justin~
Ps: Goo Goos Toystore now all sold out of plastic snow shovels that are educational as well as child-proof.
Hey, Justin. At least you have that hair to keep you warm. It was in the upper 70's (F) here in San Antonio today. High tomorrow is in in the 40's. If you don't like it, wait awhile. It's great inspiration for long hair and beards. Keep it growin' and flowin' and have a happy holiday.

I don't believe in global warming. People say it to the public so they can make money for themselves.
To my point of view, winters have been quite cold in the last few years or so in Seattle (we had two major snow storms in Seattle during the winter of 06-07), and winter of 07-08 was cold enough for frequent flurries, which lasted all the way into the middle of April. And now, we have snow on the ground for a week. This morning, it went down to 14 degrees at the airport in Seattle. Summers also don't seem to be too darn warm, either. We still have some hot days, but we also have a lot of cooler days. Summer of 2001 was not all that warm (it only went up to 80 degrees nine times during the entire summer and a lot of days remained in the 50's and 60's).
With that, global warming does not exist in my life.
Regardless
You are right, it is cyclical. We had record highs and record lows in the past. It is just a hoax to give these people power and they don't even practice what they expect us to do. It's a shame so many people fall for it.
As I drove down 101 along the Peninsula south of San Francisco a few days ago, I looked off to my left and saw the East Bay hills topped with white. It was beautiful, and I was glad it stayed up there.
It has certainly been cold and rainy though.
Nice picture Justin, a sort of update, right? Lookin' good!
Take heart, in your old hometown, they got about a foot yesterday with another half a foot predicted for tomorrow.

For f**k's sake it snowed here in LAS VEGAS a few days ago lasting until Wednesday. And we all know Vegas is out in the middle of the desert.
Just as I am thinking of moving to your part of the world, all that white stuff happens !! Don't know if I could handle it....had to hide this week when "the Hats of White Tail" became marooned ! HA!
We had a fair amount here the other day....see the photo below under the post of "Khristmas Kat" response to Hairball.
Yeah, it globally warmed enough to freeze up my auto here in eastern Oregon. The George is in horrible shape and is expecting another large dump tonight and over the weekend. What part of Oregon are you in?
-----------------------------
for me. Even here, near San Francisco, it is a bit too cold. The highs have been about 47F. It snowed on our local peaks over 1500 feet high. Global warming, I don't think so, global climate change, definitely.
You ought to consider moving down south, if you can afford to do so. The SF Bay Area is nice.

You could always invest in some Damart undergarments to keep the cold out!
Hi Justin,
I cannot get over all the SNOW you have been getting in your part of the world! It seems to be happening everywhere, but ironically, where I am right now (Pittsburgh area), the ground is bare and a storm that was supposed to hit us last night missed us totally. However, I checked the forecast for Portland, Maine, and they are expecting 1-2 feet of snow there!
Hopefully, that snow will end out your way soon!
Take care,
David
HAHAHAHA! Depends on where you're at...
It's supposed to be 82 degrees Fahrenheit here on Christmas Day!
Hey Justin, that looks beautiful, I would love to have snow like that, and a white christmas? you are lucky, we are going to get a windy, warm and wet one :-(

Hi Justin ! I envy you ! Nice photos :)
I defiantly live in the wrong part of the country, I love snow. I lived in Germany for two years, it was great.
Alabama is just too damn hot, we got one snow storm back in 93 I think. I stayed in it nearly all day for three days.
Down here everything shuts down if the weather man hints at snow, lol.

nice waist length hair! here in florida, it's still HOT outside! its usually at least a comfortable temperature by this time, but this year, it didn't cool down very much.
I've been to Florida once and it was in December.I was staying in Miami Beach and the weather was very warm and pleasant. It was funny that during the day we had to use the A/C in the car as it was too hot inside.People also we swimming in the ocean too!Being my first time there I was taken aback by that.

Well here in NJ we got dumped on for the most part starting on Friday.Right now as I type this the clouds are leaving and the sun is out!Yippie! It's funny as I drove to south Jersey yesterday and they had nothing.Go figure as I only drove 40 minutes and it was a regular day.Well isn't today the first day of winter?Wonder if we are in for a long one.
Mark
Hey Justin...wow, now that is unusual for that area isn't it? It looks pretty and I like the snow for about 3 minutes then I'm over it. Having lived in NY all those years I don't care if I ever see another snowflake! Great pic of you and the scenery though. Also, tell me again where you got that cool headband???
Happy season to you!
Cheers,
Max
Hey Max
Easy! Just go into a store that sells beads or better yet a store selling fabrics. The leather comes in different widths and shades of colour and is sold by the foot. (Not expensive at all and lasts just about forever.) Buy about 2-1/2' to a yard of it to make sure you have enough and cut away after getting the fit you like around your head.
Best of luck to you.
Justin~
Well Justin you'll get no sympathy from me. We broke records last year and we're ahead of that this season. Although we have a fleet of snow plows you don't.
Kevin
the snow continues along with a mist of freezing rain. Lost power today for about 4 hours. Few cars on the road. Ha Ha Ha. Nobody can move!
Right now the snow is up to my knees!
UNREAL! But then again, what IS real? Not myself, that's for sure. LOL :-)
Happy holidays to one and all.
Justin~
Enjoy the natural tranquility of nature oh trapped audience!
Justin, I bet you wished it was your hair "up" to your knees!
All the best to you and yours for the coming year. Always looks good on the headstone to get to another year alive!
Cheers,
Duncan
I don't think there is global warming
as today in central Wisconsin was -10 degrees.
any one who wants to claim there is global warming
needs to spend a winter in Wisconsin that would change there mind about it
0F with a windchill of -34F here in Muncie... I'd take the snow right now. LOL! =)

I have always been a bit skeptical concerning global warming. The Old Farmers Almanac states that we are moving into another Ice Age. It's butt freezing cold here in Arkansas. I guess I'm gonna have to start growing long hair on everything. Yep, that too!

Unless there's a change during the next 9 days, 2008 will go down as the first year without any temperature below 60 at my house. (At least as far as I've been keeping records --- back to 1993.)
Last winter (2007-08) was the first winter without any temperature below 60. It was a far cry from the winter of 1968-69 when the snow line dropped to 6000 feet and there was frost on Oahu and the temperature dropped into the 40s at sea level.
It seems that in recent winters, the cold fronts just don't have enough ooomph to push through the Hawaiian Islands. The jet stream has also tended to remain north of the state.
On numerous occasions, the jetstream would form a persistent cutoff low (a "Kona low") to the northwest, bringing long periods of southerly winds bringing warm humid air and extensive heavy rain, with the cold dry air staying to our west.
The warm temperatures (more accurately, I should say warm nighttime temperatures) during the winter have been offset by the unusually cool temperatures during the summer. The cool summer temperatures in Hawaii were mostly caused by the cooler ocean temperatures (La Nina, the opposite of El Nino) and the Pacific Decadal Oscillation.

Globally, the cooloff in the past few years might be attributable to the sunspot minimum as well as the Pacific Decadal Oscillation. I'm still inclined to believe that in the longer term the Earth as a whole is going to get much warmer.

Anyway, I think the recent colder temperatures in many parts of the U.S. may encourage guys to grow their hair long. It's my belief that the murderously hot summers during the 1990s is one factor that led to men favoring the short spiky hair that was popular back then.
