Dear friends
As you can see by this and the other pic that Global Warming has indeed overpowered us here in Oregon. Nobody is going anywhere and my car despite being cleaned-off 2 times yesterday now looks to be imbedded FOREVER!
And hence, the Global Warming continues on its way.
TG it is "warming." I'ed hate to be in a Global Chill for fear of catching mee death of cold.
LOL
Justin!
ps: Looks as if I won't be swinging by today to visit any of my MLHH friends. Hey, I'm trapped!
Oh well, what's a tiny bit of white stuff compared to Winter in New England.
Beautiful pictures Justin, keep warm and put your feet up.
Merry Christmas to you and may 2009 be healthy and hairy :-)
~ Dave
Hey Dave
Merry Christmas to you as well and a great New Year with even longer hair! Here is a "night photo" just before a transformer blew-up and sent us sailing east while looking west despite the fact that the snow is from the north.
Take care-
Justin~
Well "dear friend" Justin!
It just looks like that you are snowed in for sure and thanks for sharing those lovely "seasonal" pictures with us! Looks like you will have to go and get the spade out and dig yourself out unless you can get you helpful neighbour to help as well.
A merry yule to you!
Cheers,
John.B
Hey John
Glad you like the pictures of the season. All that is missing is Santa, but he won't be around here this year cause I have been a bad boy.........which actually is a rather lovely way 2 be. ooooooh. Look at the picture I took last night in the dark and luckily the Boggie Man wasn't around to scare the s out of me. (He is noted for cuting off long hair on guys.) Good thing you live where you do.
Take care my friend and hope all is well with you way over there in the UK.
Justin~
In general, the prediction for global warming is average temperatures going up, however, individual locations may get warmer OR colder, wetter or dryer...AND the weather is likely to become more extreme, with larger variation and less predictability, especially with storm strength.
Hey Trolleypup
Hope all has been well with you. I NEVER knew this about the so-called Global Warming. Then, apparently individual locations may or may not warm-up as other places might not warm (though they should have) and all places in general are headed up despite the fact that the temperatures are lower when they should be higher in individual places, or sets of areas yet undefined (but to be so) once the Jet Stream reverses and sets-up warmer areas once colder with explicit predictability regardless of the fact that all that is warmer is now so much colder.
(And if you can follow that one you are a genius!) LOL :-)
Take care Trolleypup and my best to you for a wonderful holiday season.
Justin~
Actually Justin I'm sure somebody somewhere read that melted snow was good for hair and made it grow faster. So you could take it in the house melt it, bottle it, and sell it on the internet.
For all you know your sitting on a gold mine.
LOL
Kevin
Great idea Kevin and I don't know why I didn't think of it first. Perfect! Oh wait, I DID think of it, you see, I was that person! (duh.)
Alas, the snow I took in the house was too much and when it melted there was a flood going from the kitchen through the dining and living room and out the front door. Can you imagine? Shucks...........I had forgotten the bottles!!!!!! LOL :-)
Guess all the gold I have around here has chocolate inside, but the "foil" is for sale on ebay starting at ONLY .99. B sure 2 bid till it hurts,$$$$$$$$$$$!
Justin~
Hey Justin, there in no global warming north of you in Washington either! 13 inches of snow and 0 degrees over nightwhere I live!!! Ouch, and my sister just 120 miles to the east of me has 36 inches of snow just this week! Good luck digging out!! take care!
Hey Justin, we too, in Central Oregon, also have a ton of new snow. The snow blower at the house ran out of gas, clearing our house and the two neighbor's drives. Near the single digits for F. Temps tonight. Maybe you are better off staying at home tonight, my grandchild and her parents were almost killed today in a head-on collision on Oregon's Hwy 20, near Burns. Stay home, and keep that beautiful head of hair or yours growing for us all to marvel at!!!
-Daniel
Hi Daniel
Wow..........you have it really bad where you are. Glad I'm here now rather then in your section of the state. I almost was hit 2 times today by cars skidding out of control. Oh well, guess I have 7 lives left now before they are all used up.
Take care Daniel and stay safe. As for my hair? I shall protect it from "Frost-Bite!" LOL :-)
Justin~
Hey Justin, keep those wonderful locks away from the mad drivers. There is a lot of slip'n and slid'in going on. Keeping one's speed down, and good traction tires are the order of the day here. You have just beautiful locks and Oregon should declare them a "State Treasure".
Keep safe and warm.
-Daniel
Amazing longhairedone-
If anything, I would have thought it to have been just the same up your way. They really can get some nastys just south of the San Jaun Islands right on the coast of WA. BAD Wind-storms!
Funny how this Global Warming is working out. Hmmmmmmm, wonder what it is doing up on the Moon? Frosted Craters???
Take care-
Justin~
Some scientific theories say that a small temperature change upward, which we have had and is verifiable by the melt-off in the polar regions (Ross Ice Shelf) and temperature records and other such as the disappearing snow in Kilimanjaro, could cause a small ice age again. There was a warmer period in the Classical Age. (The Romans were said to have used Alpine passes that are ice and snow locked even now.)There was a medieval warm period (When the Vikings flourished, and grapes grew well in England: English wine was said to be better than the French. (Geoffrey Chaucer was the son of a wine bottler.)), and then the Little Ice Age through the mid 1800's. (The Thames used to freeze over every year, and you could walk from Denmark to Sweden in winter.) If the Gulf Stream stops due to freshwater meltoff from Greenland and the North Pole, then it will be very much colder in Europe and Eastern North America, and these cold pockets supposedly will influence other climate systems.
I read that as well, the thing that I also find troubling is the sea level rise we'll see and the cost of dealing with it. Then there's agricultural upheaval coupled with world population growth. If we live into our 90's we'll get to see some of the effects and how we deal with it.
Kevin
Hi Justin,
Yikes, or I should say, double yikes! What an amazing amount of sow, and it is very rare to see that much even in Nova Scotia! The weather patterns appear to be totally messed up, and they are forecasting 50 degrees here in Pittsburgh tomorrow. Hopefully, you will be blessed with milder weather soon!
Take care, and stay warm!
David
Hey David
Yikes is right. NOTHING like this has ever hit here before, at least in recent history that I am aware of. Of mild weather? We have been hearing of this for days, but it is taking its time showing-up.
Take care-
Justin~
Snow days are wonderful things....just putz around the house in your jammies, eat bad things, take naps and look at the stuff through the window. Enjoy !!
Walter
P.S. I canceled my plans to spend Christmas in Astoria, pretty nasty drive through the Sierras even with 4 X 4....maybe New Years
Hey Walter
Perhaps all will melt before New Years, but for now I don't think anyone could even make it over that Mt. range........even if they had 8 wheel drive! Can you imagine climbing that Column right now and looking out at the most fantastic view of snow on all of the mountains.
Take care-
Justin~
Justin, I didn't know you were a fellow Oregonian! Good to know there's another one of us on here. The snow has certainly caused difficulties with heading home for the holidays...
I see temps will go back to normal for you in the coming week and soon it will all be melted and just a memory.
Hope you enjoyed it while it lasted.
Of course I'll be buried in it until spring, but then I have a snow blower.
Kevin
Hey Kevin
Back to normal? I can't even remember what normal is. 12 miles of walking through this junk plus digging out a stuk (still stuck) car in the driveway sealed in ice. (Dug of course with a garden shovel as snow shovels are a bit rare around here as are plows in my area.............like there are none!)
And so, the Global Warming seems to continue onwards.........at least where I am. A "slight" warming spell DID happen for a few hours in the afternoon. Now DEADLY Ice hangs from the rafters!
Justin~
