hey guys, i was just wondering a bit about combing your hair.
i have not combed my hair with an actual comb since i started letting it grow out, i just "fingercomb".
I have read on a few sites that using a brush can actually be bad for your hair/scalp, is that true? and is the same true for a comb?
thanks for any info/feedback!
I fingercomb my hair too after washing it, when its state is nearly dry.
A brush can really damage your hair because you stretch your tangled hair so much that it can break. If you comb your hair you shouldnt do it while its wet because you can damage it even more then. Start combing you rhair from the ends and get more up, let yourself time. You really don't need a brush then.
I start out finger combing, then I brush with a boar bristle brush. When I'm satisfied that any snags are free, then I use a wide tooth comb or sometimes called a "wet" comb. (I use it dry). After all that, I then go back to the boar brush and finish up.
Hope that helps.

Fingercombing is really the best of all, but after doing this you can graduate to a very wide-toothed comb............and then "if" desired go rather lightly over all with a good Boars Bristle Brush to bring out a nice shine. Bearing down hard with a brush isn't the best idea...........but light pressure should be ok.
I've found out that using a wide toothed comb works best for my hair and I try to wait until it's nearly dry to use it. After it's dry or before I go anywhere I use a Boars Bristle Brush and the wide tooth comb.
