Today I come to you guys with a serious problem. All of a sudden,my hair started to feel weak, excessively dry, especially in the ends, and I'm losing tons of hair.Yes,I've paid to have my hair chemically straightened in salons around 3 times this year, but this time I've went too far,but I haven't ironed my hair in a long time,so I don't know why this is happening now =/.I'm seriously thinking of chopping my hair to a length it will be stabilized, though I don't really know what to expect from this.Any tips and advices appreciated before I take desperate measures. This pic shows most of the hair strands that I lose during my showers,or at least what I judge to be most of 'em =/.Thanks in advance.
Hi Rafael,
To be honest, that doesn't look like that much hair. If it's a sudden increase in shedding, there might be another reason such as getting a new comb, weather changes, using more/less shampoo than before, using a different shampoo/conditioner, etc.
My hair is just about at armpit length and I lose more hair than that when I wash it. I've also found that using certain shampoos will cause me to lose a lot more hair, so I've stopped using some brands. Maybe you can try a different shampoo or using less of the shampoo you use now.
Also, stress is a major factor. If you have exams now or are going through emotional problems then that can cause more shedding too.
Hope this helps,
Peter
Stress can actually be a great factor responsible for my hair shedding,as I'm going through really hard times and am deeply depressed lately, but I'm almost sure the actual cause was the hair treatments I went through =/
It is possible that, with the stress you've been under lately from the alcohol problems, you could just be experiencing increased hair loss. This happened to me for a while this past semester, as I was very much stressed about work and school. Just don't be chemically straightening your hair anymore. That process is just beyond damaging. Let your hair grow, treat it well, and use lots of conditioner. If a small trim is in order, then it's not the end of the world. But do not be hasty about cutting... Best of luck, buddy. =)

Thanks,James, and though there's presently nothing I can do about the stress,I'm looking forward to get my hair trimmed by a few inches, that is If changing shampoos and conditioners doesn't work =/.
Don't cut or go near any Salon. That is NOT much hair loss. Perhaps you "may be" going through a shedding cycle. Of course what you have had done to your hair in the past has been brutal for it, but I wouldn't give-up hope yet.
If I were you, I would go right out today and get spray in conditioner and saturated the ends unlike you have ever done so before.(Hair by the way just doesn't fall off the ends.) The whole strand falls out "unless" by accident snapped.
Best of luck to you but please do not give up hope just yet.
Justin~
(Do you know of my Long Hair tutorial (7 parts) on the internet? If not and interested, just email me and I will tell you where to find it. I do not wish to give it out on this board as that has been done already 2 times.)
Thanks,Justin, and I'm gonna give the spray in conditioner a shot, and see how my hair reacts to it.If that doesn't help,then...crap! XD
And,unluckily,my hair is falling in loads,so...yea XD.
I'm most likely to read your tutorial sometime soon,as I'm in desperate need of help Oo.Thanks for everything again,Justin, and take care!=)
I wouldn't call that tons of hair, and a little dryness is not the end of the world. If you go and get any length chopped off you'll regret it.
Just wait a few weeks and see what happens besides you just posted an update where all looks good.
Kevin
Thanks.Kevin, and I'll wait sometime and see how things turn out, other than that I'll just use tons of conditioner and hope not to go bald in a near future XD.DO you know of any good brands of shampoo and conditioner that makes hair stronger and less dry?Take care,Kevin, and thanks in advance =).

I've always been skeptical of shampoo claims about making your har stronger and less dry so the answer is no I don't have any ideas. Some say "Oh this works good oh that works good" but you never really know if it was the shampoo or not.
Kevin
Then I guess a small trim is in order -.-
Hi Rafael,
Looking at that pic I'd hardly think anything was wrong with your hair in regards to excess shedding.Gee, I can loose that much every time I brush my hair during the day.I don't want to make it sound like its all in your head as the stress you are experiencing sure doesn't help. However, you recently posted an update and I thought your hair looked great.Other than the obvious to become less stressed I'd say try experimenting with hair products until you find one that works well for your hair.I find I'm doing that all the time myself.Hopefully with the New Year approaching that will lead to better times for you my friend.
Mark
Thanks,Mark, and I'm sure stress is an aggravating factor as for hair shedding in my case, apart from all the hair treatments I've been through -.-.I'll see how redken brand works for me,and try to use spray in conditioner and as much conditioner as I can, though I think the only solution at this point is wait.Other than that I'm doing my best to keep things in place around here, especially my head XD.Take care,my friend, and don't give up your splendid head of hair,as it is an inspiration to many, not only on this board, but to a vast number of others on this world.
I loose that much hair sometimes.
Paul
I see,but the thing is that I'm losing a lot of hair, meaning that my hair is weak, thin and dry,and I need urgent help from you guys, and this thread alone wasn't of much help =/.
Oh, ok.
Well, I was trying to help adjust a distorted and panicky perspective from a whipper-snapper. Everybody sheds, you're probably overreacting. 4 of the 5 other replies say, "it's not that much hair".
Gee, sorry I couldn't help you better.
Paul
Lol,don't worry,it's not that big of a deal =P.I can't really tell if I'm overreacting or not,but according to my mom,I'm losing a huge amount of hair,as she cleans my bathroom every day,and is nagging me about it.Today I bought some palmonive oil repairing shampoo, conditioner and mask, and will see how well that works for me.I just wanted to get some tips and advices on shampoos and conditioners, cause my hair is getting dry, thinning out and falling like hell, and it is driving me crazy XD.
I know what you mean, my dad and both brothers went bald. I'm checking mine all the time. Knocking on wood.
Paul
I wouldent worry about it too much. I have the same problem but I shed twice as much hair as that if not more, especially after showing and detangling I shed a mess of hair also as the day goes on I notice alot of hair on my shirt that shed.I dont know what the cause is but my hair seems to be in pretty good condition. I spent years worrying about it but I just led it go, becuase I dident want to cut my hair over it. I did notice there is some periods of time I shed hardly any hair and some days it sheds everywhere.
