Hey, I got some questions about hair care.
I've had some problem with breakage so I've started using hot oil treatments. I also use Infusium 23, boars bristle brush and a big tooth comb, I threw out that crappy brush I used to use. I have some itching and flakes so I use Head and Shoulders, it helps some but not enough. I started using biotin about a week ago.
Since I started this routine I swear my hair has grown an inch in the past month.
It has been looking better, much of the time it looks like the avatar but sometimes it gets pretty fuzzy. I'm sure the water is crappy but I can't really do anything about that.
I was wondering what's the best hot oil to use or if there's something better to beat the fuzzies?
Cheers,
Paul
Hey Paul, hope your new year is off to a good start. Not able to answer your hot oil treatment ?, but the biotin sounds like it might be working for you. How much of it are you taking? I just started using it at 300mcg per dose. Since you said you have an inch of growth the past month..wow, that's twice as fast as normal. Perhaps I can find some infusium 23 myself...don't seem to have it at the local supermarket around here...
Cheers,
Max
Hello Max,
It's 300mcg daily. I wonder if I took more... Hey can you OD on this stuff? Lol
I think the greater length is mainly because I'm more careful when I comb it now. That and the Infusium 23, I used to use it and my hair was always better.
I buy it from Wal-Mart.

I use the same conditioner on my hair that I do after shampooing as a frizz-buster too. When my hair dries, I take some conditioner in my hands with a little water and work it into my hair as if I'm making a ponytail. Re-wet hands and repeat. Shake out your hair, like your head-banging or something. It's amazing how something so simple keeps my hair looking somewhat nicer than it otherwise would.

Hi Matt,
That's a good idea. Thanks. I miss head-banging too.

I use olive oil and coconut oil as hot oil treatments. Both are supposed to have small enoguh particles to penetrate the hair shaft, and are supposed to be better for that reason.
As for the breakage, are you sure the boar britsle brush is doing more help than harm? Sometimes brushing, even on just wavy hair types, can do harm for some. Also, getting a satin pillowcase can help with breakage.
Thanks,
Interesting, do you use either or a mix of both? Do you heat it?
I usually use the big tooth comb, I don't use the brush a lot. I'm starting to like the comb better than anything.
I don't know if I'm sophisticated enough for satin pillow cases, lol. JK, I might just get some sheets too.

What I would do is to wash my hair with bottled water (if you wash it once a week or so). People with allergies do that and also people who live in areas where the water is hard (like in my country). I think that would constitute a cheaper, better solution.
