My hair was just as scraggly as the Spanish Moss I was staring at! Great way to start the New Year... going on a good hike.
Thanks, Steve NoVA, for the photo work!
--Rick
Excellent update Rick, looks like a good hike that day.
Kevin
The hike was definitely a good one. Great weather and vegetation along the way were 'greening up' quite well. Take care!
--Rick
Looks great ... nice, long, and healthy.
Miss hiking at this time of year, but here in the North it's cold and the woods are filled with hunters.
Karsten
I'm from Michigan and I can relate to the woods being filled with hunters. If you do go out in the woods, be sure to wear plenty of orange!
--Rick
Your hair looks great, Rick, not scraggly! Is that Laguna Creek Beach?
Marriage Equality Silicon Valley
Thanks, Dino. No, it's in the Big Basin Redwood State Park. Great trails in there. Lot of trails I haven't been on... for now!
--Rick
Hey Rick, great pic! Your hair has certainly gotten very long and it looks super...I like your version of "scraggly". :-)
Cheers and happy 2009
Max
Thanks, Max. It'll be 5 years in March with no cuts/trims. As far as I can tell, it's still growing!

Hi Rick
I guess Steve and yourself were the longhaired kings on that trail! That's so cool that the two of you did a hike as I like that kind of thing myself.Just walking through nature has a way of calming oneself.Anyway great hair my friend as it really is lookin' long:)Cheers buddy!
Mark
Longhaired kings on the trail? Cool! :-) There were some parts of the trail where we had to be careful, small branches would snag our hair but not really a huge problem. Looking forward to the next time you're out this way...
--Rick
Hi Rick, yes you have to watch out for those sticker bushes as they just are looking to snag your hair!OUCH!!!LOL.I'd love to meet you guys again as I'm looking to make a return trip out west this year.I'll keep you posted.
Mark
Hi Rick,
Brings to mind that old '60s hippie song with the lyrics, "When you go to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair...", --- only instead of wearing flowers, why not try a modest bouquet of Spanish Moss in your locks? I will, if you will!
Long Lox 4ever,
Ken
"When you go to Big Basin, be sure to wear some Spanish Moss in your hair..."
"I will, if you will!" Hey Ken... look at all the witnesses you have! ;-)
--Rick
Hi Rick,
That is a great picture, and Happy New Year to you! Perhaps, one day, I might get out to the west coast!
Keep it growing,
David
Thanks, Dave... and a Hairy New Year to you, also! Looking forward to your visit!
--Rick
Nice update Rick and I had NO idea that your hair had reached this length.
BRAVO! :-)
Justin~
Thanks, Justin. As far as I can tell, it's still growing. I'll see if I can get a front shot soon that shows more of the length.
--Rick
Great update Rick. Nice length!
Bruce
Thanks, Bruce!

Rick, where did you see Spanish moss? thought that was only in the southeast U.S. ur hair looks great, lighter brown than it used to be I think.
rob
Here in Big Basin Redwood State Park, there's Spanish moss in quite a few of the trees. The first time I saw it was in the Southern U.S., when I moved to Florida. I was real surprised when I first saw it out here.
My hair color seems to change a lot, depending on the lighting. It could look black, dark brown, light brown, and/or blonde. And, or course, gray. ;-)
--Rick
Hi Rick.
Your hair looks nice, although I can see your true length with the backpack removed.
By the way, what was the weather like on your hike?
Matthew aka Regardless
The weather was real nice. We started at the beach and then hiked inland. The further we hiked, the warmer it got. We climbed to about 1000 ft. vertical and then back to the beach. In my estimate, the temp. range on the hike was about 55° to 62°. Great way to start the New Year!
--Rick
It looks like you and Steve had a good hike. Your hair is looking good. When the weather warms a bit, I may want to join you guys. Where is this hiking trail?
Scott
Thanks, Scott. The trail's in the Big Basin Redwood State Park. Things there are now starting to green up and will probably stay that way until around April or May.
--Rick
Hi Rick , cool update, thats some great length you have there and good to know you are able to get out into the outdoors and have fun too.
Cheers Dave
Thanks Dave. I've got a few strands that go down past my belt but my hair is so fine that they don't show up! It's definitely nice to be able to get out and hike the trails year round. Sometimes you just have to bundle up REAL good, though.
--Rick
Hey, Rick. Your hair is definitely much better than the Spanish moss. Wish I was hiking with you and Steve. BTW, I met Steve a couple of years ago in D.C. He's a great guy! Keep it growin' and flowin'.
TLH
"... Your hair is definitely much better than the Spanish moss." Yep, and it's much easier to brush, too! :-)
Take care and have a great year,
--Rick
Nothing like natural hair in a natural environment. Looking good!
Mouse
Thanks, Mouse. Hope you're doing well!
--Rick
Nice scraggle, Rick. You look like me from the back:) Keep it growing and growing.
