My hair is about three inches right now, the sides are starting to flip and stick out but that doesn't bother me, however the top of my hair looks worse. There is some frizz and "cowlicks" I guess, especially on the front which curls up and looks like crap. I only shampoo every two weeks, condition daily, and deep condition twice a week using Aussie products(Doing all this, my hair still feels dry) What can I do to calm the frizz and cowlicks? I don't want to use gel, nor anything that will leave my hair sticky/unmovable. I really love long hair but I'm wondering if it's just not for some people.
I would also like to add that the top is very wavy and thick, while the sides seem thinner and there is no wave.
You will find that as your hair gets longer, it's own weight will help to keep it under control. Until then, why not try some gel? What's the worst thing that can happen? If you don't like it, then you can simply wash it out. Just make sure that the gel doesn't have any alcohol in it. Alcohol will dry your hair out. I use Dep level 8 with great results. After it dries, you can leave it unbrushed for the wet look. Or brush your hair out for a soft natural look.
Good luck and keep growing!
Thanks for the reply. The reason I don't like gel is b/c girls like to run their hands through my hair sometimes and it's kind of gross to do that with sticky gunk in your hair. However tody I discovered a great alternative, I wore a hat for the first time ever (not all day, but when I went outside in the wind) and it did wonders for my hair.
